  1. Thought the same thing when I saw that this am. He does have 1 option left too. He's been terrible in the bigs, but wouldn't mind throwing him in Charlotte and see if anything clicks.
  2. Didn't want to start a new thread so will post here. Do any out of towners in here subscribe to MLB Extra Innings via Comcast? How do you like it? Able to access all games - subject to any espn or local blackouts - without issue like you would with MLB.tv? I have been an mlb.tv subscriber and supporter. Still love it. But I am unable to get MLB.tv on my basement tv and it drives me nuts. Moved into my current house just before last season started and bought a new LG tv. Once I had it mounted, realized that the LG doesn't support MLB.tv. FML. When I try to stream via my phone or PS4, its skippy/buffers a ton. Really not a realistic or enjoyable way to watch a ball game, so basically removes all ability for me to watch Sox games in my basement unless its a national telecast. So long story short, I am considering just biting the bullet and buying MLB extra innings. But I am a newer comcast customer (was always DTV person), and have never had the comcast MLB package. Did grow up with MLB Extra Innigns on DTV and it was fantastic. Would just love to get the opinion of a few people who have subscribed to the comcast version before diving in. Thanks in advance for the 2 cents!
  3. At least you'll be able to say you were right tho! It's also not really that hard for any acquisition to be "non disappointing". Literally anything that yields something better than $1M loss is a better result than buying him out. People can kick and scream that the $15M cost the Sox carried during this 2 week span is why Hahn didn't make more meaningful offseason moves at 2B, and potentially RF (again, best fit still out there with seemingly very limited options), but we dont know that. Pure speculation. Also, it seems to get lost here that Kimbrel is a really good reliever. I don't like the guy and want him gone. Hated the trade from day 1. But the decision to pick up the option has been made. Its over. If all they will get is a salary dump to line JR's pockets, and I am pretty certain they can get that as Kimbrel is at least as good/effective as Kenley who just got paid the same amount. Sox are probably better off just keeping him for now and seeing what surfaces during the season than simply just dumping to save $16M.
  4. I don't know. Didn't really follow along here last night. Just saw some chatter about it this am. Don't know what exactly Murray said.
  5. You referring to a 3 way or the Sox trade Kimbrel for Pollock and then turn around and trade him to Padres/Phillies?
  6. Id be shocked if the Sox trades for Pollock. Doesn’t really make much sense.
  7. Always been a Micker fan. He's unfortunately just ran out of time in this org. He's going to hit .220 with a 30 bombs a year for someone tho.
  8. Eloy for Ketel & Varsho would be interesting, though I don't think Arizona would do that deal with Eloy's current value. Eloy for Bellinger would be awful. Not sure Bellinger really has much surplus value. Some, but not much.
  9. I think all of his more major injuries have happened playing the field. I don't think Eloy is really "worth" less to the Sox being a DH. He's not a good OF and he's worth nothing when he's on the IL. Seems pretty straight forward to me. If he were a good OF of course his trade value would be higher than if he were a DH only, but Sox shouldn't be worried about his trade value. They should be worried about getting him 600+ at bats because healthy Eloy can absolutely rake.
  10. Its not really a platoon when one is in RF and one is DHing. That's the problem. For all this talk about a Vaughn/Sheets platoon, the current roster doesn't allow for it. Have to sign a RF for that to happen.
  11. I truthfully don't believe you could trade Eloy today and improve the club. He has the upside of one of the very best RHH in the game. Will he reach that upside? Probably not if the Sox keep running him out in LF everyday, but its enormous. You'd be selling low and it just doesn't make sense.
  12. Makes ya wonder. Leury is going to play so much RF is we don't make a move for a real OF.
  13. Me? No. I've said I'd stretch to 5/$100M to get it done. I much prefer 4/$80Mish tho and clearly the Sox do as well. Its not my $ tho. Its not like I am going to be mad if they signed him to $5/$110M. $2M AAV is nothing.
  14. I have never once said I want to pay him $22-25M. I think 4/$80M gets it done at this point. You had previously said you wouldn't give him more than $13M AAV which is comical.
  15. Gio is gone in 2 years. He isn't taking an extension unless its an overpay. TA we have plenty of time to figure out, but realistically, he's probably gone too. Just hard for me to get too worked up about the 2025 season right now. Sox best window is closed by then and they'll be fully in re-tool mode.
  16. Yet you've been assuring all of us 50x a day Conforto has 0% chance of signing with the Sox. Interesting.
  17. A. Worry about Giolito in 2 years and TA in 3 years.
  18. Don't tell @Polar Bear! Dude's got a 50% chance of eating the biggest crow sandwich on earth!
  19. What to do? I dunno. Watch Opening Day and about 90% of the other game this season because I am a die hard Sox fan and we have hands down one of the best 2-3 rosters in my 31 years on this earth? I think that is what I will do.
  20. Problem with rolling with no further OF additions is we're relying on the OFs to stay healthy when 3 of them have shown they struggle with that to varying degrees. Sox are pretty much fucked as soon as Eloy gets hurt. When Eloy and Engel are both hurt, they're royally fucked. Questionable decision making at its finest. I really cannot fathom that Hahn's thought process on RF and lineup balance has completely changed since the fall. He's just playing chicken with Conforto, likely because JR won't let him add on that 5th year, and to this point, Conforto/Boras are holding out for it. We know the Sox are interested - the guy with consistently the best info that actually uses his name has said they've made him an offer than frankly is probably the best he's received this offseason or he'd be signed elsewhere.
  21. Yeah.me too. There weren’t any options at 2B so truthfully I’ve expected Conforto the whole time. Not all hope is lost yet.
  22. Yah we are and have been on the same page on this since the beginning.
  23. The funny thing is, I don’t really think anyone bats too much of an eye at spending what we did on those guys if they just signed an impact RF first. The order of events has really pissed off the fan base. Of course, there is still the best fit out there. Truthfully outside of the lack of Conforto, it’s not too far from what I expected. Certainly did expect them to acquire a backup catcher tho.
