  1. If the Sox wanted him for 2/$44M, they would have given him 1/$18M.
  2. Yepppp. Knew Carlos was never coming back here. Glad Sox didn't bite on that.
  3. Would have definitely preferred he come out and say 2B and RF are big time priorities, but we know they are.
  4. I am sort of astonished there hasn't been any action leaguewide.
  5. Didn't he have like 20 at bats and a week or two of service with Boston, and then the Sox sent him back to AAA for half a season? Not sure that week or two really changes the point. He was still rookie eligible in 17, and didn't get enough ABs to truly garner any real ROY consideration even if he was good enough to do so (he wasn't).
  6. Yes. My guess is he is passed around a few MLB rosters until he finally clears waivers. Wouldn't be shocked to see a rebuilding team give him a go, but the Ks are a real issue.
  7. He is out of options. And there is no space for him on the MLB roster. He's either traded, or has to clear waivers in the next 4 weeks.
  8. Basically what the Sox did with Moncada.
  9. Adolfo can be removed from any and all analysis. He will be out of the org in mere weeks as he’s out of options. The Sox should not be counting on Cespedes and Colas for anything. If one of them becomes an average everyday regular, that’s a huge win. In the off chance that happens, it’s a good thing. If you sign Conforto for 3 or 4 years for $18-20M and he reverts back to the guys he’s always been, you have a bargain and legit trade chip. You can choose between Colas/Cespedes and Conforto at that point. These are good problems to have.
  10. I personally don’t like it for these reasons. 1) Gavin’s bat fits a ton of team needs. Even if you assume the Sox sign Conforto, you’re still relying on everyone staying healthy including Eloy, Engel and Conforto who have all struggled to stay healthy. I personally would send Gavin to AAA to start the year, but I full well know he’s going to be needed plenty. I don’t think he’s much more than a solid platoon bat, but we badly need more left handed hitting and power. We don’t have much upper level depth after Gavin. Next best option would be K machine Adolfo and he won’t even be in the org in 4 weeks cause he’s out of options. 2) I’m not against trading Sheets or adding SP, but I just don’t think Bassitt moves the needle much. So maybe we win the division by 10 games instead of 7 games. Sox are strong division favorites and Bassitt isn’t even a slam dunk to make our playoff rotation depending on how exactly Sox manage Kopech throughout the year. Perhaps the new playoff rules changes the calculus on this a bit as those extra couple games could mean a bye instead of a 3 game series. 3) despite all Sox fans, myself including, wanting to send Keuchel to the moon, it’s just not happening. Adding Bassitt quote literally gives you no option but to stick him in a role he’s never done and isn’t suited for. I fully expect Sox to try to milk 20 or so starts out of Keuchel before dumping him, and everyone else should too. I won’t be irate or anything if Sox flip Sheets for Bassitt. I will be happy to have him. I also won’t be irate if Sox fire the Sheets bullet in another deal. But I just personally wouldn’t do that deal for those reasons.
  11. I’d sell high too. Just not sure 1 season of Bassitt qualifies.
  12. I said he “might” be our best SP. hyperbole was intended, but I do believe he has a chance to be very special. Probably will only see flashes of that in 22, tho.
  13. I mean I’d love to run a $250M payroll too and have TOR SP but I just know it’s not gonna happen. This team operates within a budget they’ve already smashed tbh.
  14. I’ll take the over. If it’s the under he got hurt. Kid gloves come off. We’ve already burned his most valuable seasons, unfortunately. It’s time. I’m fine with some maintenance time here and there during summer, but 110 innings is a joke if he’s healthy.
  15. Our 4th starter might be our best starter. His name is Kopech. Not sure why you keep referring to Keuchel as anything but the 5th SP.
  16. That’s still so incredible that happened. Who leaves like $12M on the table over that BS? Crazy
  17. Which is precisely why I’m not trading him. I’m not a huge Gavin guy or anything but he has a skill set that’s Quite valuable to the Sox to have as depth.
  18. I just don’t think the Sox are going to stick Keuchel in the pen. He’s going to be in the rotation to start the season if he’s healthy. It’s not like the vesting option is 80 innings. He hardly even hit it last season. I’m well aware that Kopech can’t throw 180 innings as well. Lopez, Stiever and Lambert will all get starts, as will others. As I just said, im Not necessarily opposed to adding SP but if you’re gonna move Sheets for it, I’d want a better deal than 30 Bassitt starts at best.
  19. In no scenario would Keuchel be my 4 when he’s in a rotation with Giolito. Lynn, Cease and Kopech. I am not against adding a SP, but it should be a longer term fit if it’s for Gavin. I’d trade Burger + for Bassitt tho.
  20. Getting Eloy out of LF would help otherwise he’ll be out of LF and DH because he’s on the IL.
  21. Exactly. Rotation is full. We have mlb ready guys who can take some starts. Grab a cheap vet to compete with Keuchel and go to war. Keep Gavin. If you’re gonna make a trade, grab an expiring asset SP for Burger + fluff and call it a day.
  22. I’m holding Sheets and dumpster diving SP. i know it’s likely Sox will make a trade or two and Sheets is at top of the list of who’s going, but 1 year of Bassitt in return is rough. Another SP would be nice but I’d rather have Gavin around for when we’re sure to need him. This team is plenty good as is to win division. Bassitt isn’t moving the needle on the playoff rotation.
