  1. A live arm lottery ticket would have been nice but you’re not exactly in a position of power at the negotiating table when the guys already been DFA.
  2. Good lord Benintendi looks cooked. He can’t possibly be this bad.
  3. Post DFA, Jrod traded to Phillies for JRs favorite - cash considerations. Optioned to AA.
  4. Hmmm. I’d rather just throw Speas in the pen and see what we have than retain Leone/Shaw.
  5. We'll find which set of Pedro's boys will succeed starting at 640CT.
  6. I think it’s that he has no position, doesn’t get on base particularly well, doesn’t have a body that ages well, and has been injury prone. I think trading Burger was a perfectly fine thing to do when your team needed to improve on defense and get away from RH free swingers. You can argue the return, but the jury is still very much out on Eder. I get Burger was an easy guy to root for him. I like(d) him too. But worst trade in franchise history? My lord, what a take!
  7. And this is how having so many NRIs can bite you.
  8. Pending a physical. You'd certainly think they'd want to get that done ASAP, but also will have to make 40 man space so Sox are probably OK slow rolling it for now.
  9. Charlotte sure putting on a show tonight. Gonna get 30 burgered by the Os prospects.
  10. Sammy Peralta, who somehow held onto a roster spot all offseason just to get DFAd right before OD, was claimed by the Mariners this afternoon.
  11. I literally said “that that for what it’s worth”. I agree the Sox aren’t exactly the gold standard here. I don’t think anything I said is unfair. Some people really hate Clevinger and he’s earned that.
  12. Because he's not generally regarded as a good dude, was seeking a 2 year deal and her peripherals were far worse than his actual results in 2023? The Sox had him in the clubhouse for the entirety of 2023. If Getz feels like he isn't a problem, the current version of Clevinger probably isn't. Pretty sure he's literally been mentioned as being a good guy to have around by people around the org. Now that take for what it is worth, but still worth mentioning. I am not really all that concerned that other teams didn't want him. Guys that have legitimate upside and no baggage sign for 1/$12-15M deals, not 1/$3M deals. The former was obviously out of JR's budget this season. While its a bummer Clevinger may not return a ton - if anything - via trade, he will eat innings that need to be eaten. If he happens to be really productive, teams do silly things for a short term cheap pitching at the deadline. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Clevinger return something if he repeats (at a lower cost) or improved upon his 2023. That said, I am not trying to convince people to like the dude. Your opinions on him have been earned.
  13. Idk what Getz plan is / was to be honest. It’s hard to understand. As for Clevinger, I think they put this offer out when Cease got moved and Clev eventually took it. He’ll eat innings at a low cost, which will be useful and certainly JR approves the price point.
  14. Sox can pick 10th. Just not inside top 10. Based on the payroll space, the stupid draft rules, and a terrible division it sure felt like trying to cobble together a decent team on short term deals made alot of sense for Getz, but clearly JR disagreed.
  15. 1 year $3M with an additional $3M in incentives is the deal.
  16. I was responding to a poster that literally said “they ate money on everyone else they traded last deadline” which is blatantly incorrect.
  17. I don’t know if were or not. How much money did they eat last deadline?
  18. Lol I understand that Clevinger was owed $6.65M. This is a fact. You’re making assumptions that JR was willing to eat $ to trade him, neither of us know. I am working with facts, you’re making assumptions that you have no clue are accurate.
  19. Source? What money did the Sox eat in their deadline deals? I’m nearly certain they didnt eat any $ on Lynn, Kelly, Gio, ReyLo, Kelly or Graveman deals.
  20. Yes, perhaps. It’s also possible JR wanted to cut payroll which the rest of their deadline moves would indicate. All we know for sure is that Clevinger was still owed like $6.65M on deadline day and had only 1 start since coming off the IL. I am not suggesting teams were interested, but it not hard to imagine the Sox were only interested in moving Clev if the other team was eating most or all of the $.
  21. Would have cost teams $6.65M for like 8-10 starts with very little guarantee he was healthy at that time, but he likes to ignore that fact.
