  1. Abreu 1b, Vaughn LF, Eloy DH, Grandal C, Conforto RF, Sheets AAAA, Collins who gives a shit. Easy.
  2. I don’t think Sox should punt off Sheets either because lets be honest, Sox have a serious deficit of lefty sticks and at bats to go around. He also has 2 options, so flexibility is on our side. But Sheets isn’t a guy that’s going to haunt anyone. Could he hit 25-30 homers? Yeah probably. But he can’t do much else. I know you’re a sheets guy and I get the love, but dude is nothing more than a no defense platoon DH with low upside. Again, he’s useful. But we shouldn’t be penciling him into anything but a depth role.
  3. Sox would have to eat at minimum half of Keuchel deal to move him. Not happening. He’s a fine 5. Sox let Rodon walk because they don’t want him. I get the angle on SP over RF, just doesn’t make sense based on How they handled Rodon. All those guys you listed will still get plenty of play with a RF like Conforto on the roster. We don’t have a LF either. If you wanna call Eloy one, then we don’t have a DH. We also don’t have a 2B atm which Leury is certain to play plenty of.
  4. There is no room in the budget or the rotation for Rodon. He gone. Sharpie it in.
  5. Fair enough. If you operate under the assumption Kimbrel is immovable and the luxury tax will move by $3M, Conforto will be a challenge. I just operate under hte assumption that Kimbrel is movable, making your $194M estimate more like $180M, which gives plenty of room to sign him. I also don't see the PA agreeing to a measly $3M luxury tax increase. I guess we'll all find out soon enough.....hopefully.
  6. I don't really think Kimbrel has much value, but I think they can get a Heuer type pre-arb reliever back for him while dumping the $. That is fine with me and creates $16M (essentially pays for Conforto in 22). $15-18M for Conforto + $12-15M combined for stopgap 2B and vet SP to compete for 5 spot = $30M. Current payroll is ~$170M ($154M if you assume Kimbrel is gone), so that keeps them under the current $210M threshold with plenty to spare, no? Even if you want to assume they can't trade Kimbrel, analysis still works by not signing the vet SP . Would be nice to have, but honestly I don't see that guy getting the 5 spot over Keuchel anyway. $170M + $15-18M for Conforto, + $5-$10M for 2B = payroll in $190-200M range.
  7. I would assume next season. I am sure the guys who got QOs after last season still have that attached. From doing some more reading on it, it sounds like under the current proposal teams would still get some sort of draft pick compensation for elite FAs, but no QO would be required.
  8. 1) I said trade away Kimbrel. Which means that number is over $30M. (yes, I know you don't think the Sox can trade Kimbrel for anything). 2) the luxury tax figure is almost certainly going to increase. 3) Conforto + scrapheap 2B and SP should cost around $30M AAV, give or take a couple million.
  9. I was not necessarily saying I was interested. I was asking why the Mariners would make the guy they just traded for after the season available. I would give up a couple low level prospects for him to play 2B everyday tho.
  10. Adam Frazier? The guy they just traded for 2 months ago?
  11. If we're going to make a trade, let's not trade Andrew Vaughn please. I'd prefer to be good for the next 5-6 years, not classic White Sox this thing into 1-2 year window. That said, this team is good enough as is to not make any major trades. Sign Conforto. Sign one of the many 2B options. Trade Kimbrel for a cheap controllable reliever. Sign a vet SP to compete for the 5 spot. Go to battle.
  12. Comforto is a much better defender than the other 3.
  13. That gives us about 2.5 weeks to figure this out.
  14. Also, maybe this gives Yermin a sliver of trade value.
  15. Not surprising from Boob, but the 2nd part of this tweet is worded very poorly. Is Boob saying that team's will no longer get draft pick compensation for elite FAs leaving? IE: no more qualifying offer?
  16. Bauer is clearly more than a little fucked in the head and into some weird stuff, but if the court of law is not filing charges because they cannot make a case, the guy should be able to play baseball. Its not inconceivable that this was all consensual. Its also not inconvincible, in fact quite likely, that Bauer took it way too far. I haven't read about this in months so my memory is a bit foggy on it, but IIRC, the woman in question went out of her way to visit him multiple times. Why would she do that if it wasn't consensual? You don't have to like the guy or his actions, but if there are no charges, he should be able to play a sport. That being said, certainly expect LAD to what they can to get out from under the contract. I'd certainly take him in our rotation for pennies on the dollar.
  17. I think they'll use him like they used Kopech last year, but maybe a tad more aggressive since isn't coming off major surgery.
  18. Shortening the season would be a travesty. Expanding the playoffs further would be dumb.
  19. I personally would rather see guys like Vaughn and Crochet competing in the big leagues where they belong as opposed to siting in the minor leagues due to prospect hugging. The whole point should be to put your best roster on the MLB field, not win top prospect lists. I have no issue with how the Sox have handled their younger guys, with the exception of giving up on Madrigal for an overpaid reliever.
  20. You know something I don't recall on injuries? I guess I could see them slow playing Kopech to some degree - but I don't see the Sox sending him to AAA or starting season in the pen so I think his maintenance and rest is going to need to come midseason. You can never have too much pitching - but I don't think the Sox are going to sign an expensive pitcher or trade assets to acquire one so they can pay Keuchel $18M to work out of the pen as a mop up man. They also have Lambert, Stiever and McClure who are all 25 and older and are basically at do or die positions in their careers. Not expecting anything from any of them, but if they need a spot start or two, they have a couple bodies that are due their chances. Again, fully expect them to add a vet SP or 2 off the scrap heap anyway.
  21. I expect the Sox to bring in a cheap vet or 2 to compete with Keuchel and provide insurance for Kopech. I am not trading Vaughn just to push Keuchel out of the rotation though. He's a plenty servicible 5 for this team in this division.
  22. I don't think we NEED SP. I think the Sox sign a legit RF (Conforto) and a cheap 2B (several options). I don't think the Sox should trade Vaughn to fill either. Would I trade Vaughn for Marte? Yeah, maybe. But now we need a LF/DH and and RF (no I don't care about Sheets). Just plugs a hole we created with the dumb AF Madrigal trade by creating another hole in trading away another pre-arb potential star in Vaughn. Keep Vaughn. Sign Conforto. Sign a cheap 2B. Go to battle with best roster in AL.
  23. Vaughn can play LF. Eloy can DH. Days Yaz needs to DH/1B, Vaughn/Jose/Eloy/[Conforto] can get a breather. Plenty of at bats to go around. No need to trade Vaughn unless you get bowled over.
  24. The third one is the only one that makes a lick of sense. I am not trading Vaughn tho.
