If you’re insinuating that the Sox would dump Benintendi and pay the rest of his deal to do so, I strongly disagree. If Jerry is paying him, he’d much rather him fill a roster spot.
-
Lol. The Os top 10 prospects are all of the table. Except Joey Ortiz. He’s available.
-
Crochet to Touki piggyback could make some sense while it lasts, like you mentioned.
-
Did Getz say this? Must have missed it.
-
I for one am happy the Sox didn’t trade for Michael Busch. Would have been a very underwhelming primary offensive piece. I’d prefer both of Bradfield / Beavers honestly. While I wouldn’t love a quantity deal for Cease but Westburg + Beavers + Bradfield + a pitcher would be interesting and could age really well. But certainly not ready to pull the trigger on something like that.
-
If stretching him out includes him spending 6 or so weeks in the minors, I’m all for it. Gladly extend that control a year on a guy who has been criminally mishandled.
-
Fantastic post! He's amassed 463 and counting posts in this thread as an O's fan, but won't respond to this one!

I think there is a solid chance the Sox just want to move on from TA. But at like 1/$7-9M, he at least provides some upside.
-
I could get behind signing Duvall or Gallo because the Sox have made it crystal clear they aren't putting Colas in RF from day 1. Which is fine. Duvall or Gallo actually have the ability to be above average regulars, and on a cheap 1 year deal, could be a flippable asset. Also, until Cease is traded, you at least have to consider the angle that the Sox are in a god awful division and cannot get better than the 10th pick anyway. If you're going to hold Cease, may as well sign Duvall/Gallo/TA and take chance on a SP like Lorenzen, Wood or Syndergaard. Back to Colas - don't get me wrong, I definitely think he should be getting 350+ PA in 2024. But I am OK letting him earn in AAA first. But this talk about dumping Colas from the 40 man or his days with the Sox being over are silly.
-
I'll take the over. If TA is under $5M, Sox should sign him and just move him around the diamond.
-
Let him go? Dude has 2 more option years and costs nothing.
-
Colas is one year removed from the exact type of guy that we’re targeting in Cease deals. Just let him play!!!
-
Their payroll is like 60M+ below last years opening day payroll. They’re not out of money. Jerry just doesn’t wanna spend it.
-
Removing contractual status, I am taking AV every single time.
-
Sox did pretty well on these.
-
lol, only guy to beat his estimate. This dude is gonna be Pedro’s toy.
-
Well it’s no secret that Grifol didn’t like him much. But that clown shouldn’t be deciding Colas fate. Again, fine not just handing him the opening day RF role, and also fine bringing in a legit vet for RF like Duvall. But the Sox should should try to get Colas plenty of MLB at bats in 24.
-
It’s so stupid to not let Colas figure it out. I’m fine to let him earn it for a month or two, but he’s the best internal option in RF for the long term if the org by FAR. Now if you acquire someone like Kjerstad, that changes things.

I gotta see it with my own two eyes before I can actually state that. I watched the Astros a decent bit last year, and certainly in the playoffs, and can't say anything stood out to me. Don't get me wrong, I would not have signed MM - certainly not for $4.25M - and I am not expecting prime Machete, but I am not sure he's actual "worst catcher in MLB" bad at defense yet. Advanced metrics have always been a bit hit or a miss on catchers.
-
I am not at the point of stating Cease's 2023 is going to stop Getz from getting a monster haul this offseason because I do still think someone will cave to the ask. But in the event that you are going to go into ST with Cease still on the roster, FFS at least spend some of JR's money to bring in 1 more serviceable SP and a decent RF like Duvall, Grichuk or even Gallo on 1 year deals. If you can't even tank for a good pick, may as well try the misfit toys route and see where things stand in June.

I can’t categorize any further influences from the Kansas City Royals as a “very exciting move”.
-
Yikes. Make it stop, mods.
-
And all they have to show for it at this point is a cocky fanbase, a first round sweep exit in the playoffs and a current rotation that will have them middle of the pack at best in the east. Congrats!
-
Stop it, you biased white Sox fan!

The list you’re referring to is old. Schultz will be a consensus top 50 prospect once all lists have been updated.
