  1. Yep, sure worked well when the O's got swept in the playoffs and gave up 21 runs in 3 games.
  2. I had completely missed the Sox signed Chad Kuhl to an minors deal a few days back. Didn't see that reported anywhere or here. Was brutal last year for the Nats, but has appeared in the bigs 7 of the last 8 seasons (other was down with TJS) and pitched 137 innings for Colorado in 2022.
  3. Winker is a horrific OF. Doubt he's an option. I think Grichuk, Duvall and Gallo should all be explored.
  4. The absolute best case scenario is Hill and Flexen have career year first halves of the season are are flipped for some other teams AAAA garbage they don't want to to clear 40 man space, or a middling prospect that needs protecting the next winter they won't have room for. These guys aren't going to return any value even in the remote chance they are great. The only signing the Sox have made that have any legitimate flipping upside is Fedde, and even that upside requires alot to go right.
  5. If Sox are married to burying Colas in AAA for most of the season, Gallo is a logical choice. The guy blows, but at least has some upside and will play above average defense. I imagine he'd probably prefer to play for a team that has a prayer at competing, tho.
  6. I felt like once the Sox got hosed in the lottery, it might have changed their stance on 2024 roster construction. If you can't do better than the 10th pick, and you're in a god awful division, you may as well try to scrap together a passable club on short term deals. Since the winter meetings, the Sox look closer to a team that is tanking (for no benefit) than a team that is attempting to at least stay afloat in the ALC. Its so gross.
  7. Man, if you can't get a RF via the Cease deal, just let Colas learn in the bigs. Robbie Grossman does absolutely nothing to move this org forward.
  8. Oh yes, offseason articles. Definitely a great source of information.
  9. Why would the mariners trade one of their legit SPs if they’re trying to compete?
  10. Then again, Cease is the one legit chip the Sox have. They aren’t trading Robert for at least 2 years. I am not blinking in January 2024 if I’m Getz. Teams will grow more desperate as the winter drags on.
  11. I don’t claim to be an expert on the BoSox prospects, but Rafaela would be a very underwhelming main piece for Cease based on scouting reports I’ve read. Diminutive glove first RHH. The glove does sound awfully nice, and I would not be opposed to acquiring him as the 2nd piece, but I am not trading Cease to BoSox without them dipping into their top two prospects.
  12. O’s fan positing incessantly on Cease rumors in White Sox message board saying something is getting old and childish is super rich.
  13. ATL wasted so much money acquiring Kelenic they had to give up Grissom to prorate the Sale deal.
  14. Pretty tough to call any deal at $15M AAV an “albatross” in today’s game.
  15. Yeah, but none of Maldonado, Hill or Flexen fit that description. Theyre just old and bad players that are what they are. Even if they have great first halfs, these guys aren’t returning anything more than backend 40 man / AAAA fluff best case scenario.
  16. Yah…Sox really didn’t like him. Made that pretty obvious.
  17. I do not believe that is the case. From MLbTR: Flexen returned to free agency at season’s end despite having less than six years of MLB service. That’s common for players who sign a major league deal after a stint in a foreign pro league, as he did during the 2020-21 offseason after one year in the Korea Baseball Organization. Flexen will be a free agent again next winter despite still not reaching the six-year threshold.
  18. The White Sox could easily sign viable free agents. They’d just have to offer more $ than anyone else - just like 95%+ of all free agents. Players go where they get the most money the vast majority of the time.
  19. Feels like this could have / should have been an milb deal. Not a huge sum of $ by any means, but hard to see the vision.
