  1. He also was way down on Moncada, and that hasn't turned out super well. Not sure if he's changed his tune on Robert, but he was lower on him than most everyone else this past summer.
  2. Lol, those are legitimately the most useless things you could use to describe a player.
  3. Ryu is a better pitcher than Price and will come at like 60% of the cost.
  4. I don't really disagree, but I do think he can improve, and he definitely improved as the season went on. With Abreu in tow for 3 more seasons at least, Eloy is going to have to play LF the majority of that time. Maybe that calculus changes a bit if they move Vaughn this offseason.
  5. The Sox aren't move just turned 23 year old Eloy Jimenez to full time DH. Sounds good on paper, but its not going to happen. Complain away.
  6. Pretty minimal interest in Price unless Red Sox are eating half the deal. Whole Benintendi role in that deal seems far less likely now with Mazara around.
  7. My post above gives you all the info. Its $86M as of today. Some pre-arb guys make more than others, but $550K is the min. $600k is safe assumption for average, maybe a tad low. $9-$10M range for pre-arb guys is accurate.
  8. Which barring something surprising like signed Rendon, is pretty tough to reach at this point. Ryu for $20M, Porcello/Wood for $10-12M, and bench bat for $3M gets you to $120M give or take a mill.
  9. Sox are at $86M today with all guaranteed contracts including Mazara and other arb guys at their estimates and 15 guys making $600k. This counts Abreu at the $12.6M, so with the signing bonus spread amongst the three years. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/payroll/
  10. I get the angle guys, but I wouldn't hold your breath. There would need to be a lot of dominoes to fall if the Sox made Mazara move to save money to make room for Rendon. I think we'll see some money spent on SP, but at this point, everything that is left is imperfect options. I would love Ryu, but fuckina, why are we running Mazara out in RF for a year if we're spending $20M on Ryu? Mazara just screams to me a move that will be supplemented with Keuchel and a 1 year SP flier, and we'll top out at a payroll around $120M next season.
  11. Your words, not mine. Look dude, I am not a huge fan of this move. But its considerably better than paying up for Castellanos or Ozuna. Those would have been very short sighted moves that surely would have inpaired a mid market team like the Sox in a couple years. They're also dogshit defenders. If I am Hahn, I wouldn't have made this trade in mid December - maybe mid February when all other options failed, but not right now. Moving onto what they do with the rest of the roster, but at this point, I am not overly confident it will be anything exciting.
  12. Lol. Everything that could go wrong will go wrong, yes absolutely that will happen. There is also Michael Brantley.
  13. This has literally been explained to you over 100 times the last few weeks. Signing Ozuna/Castellanos isn't about 2020 - its about 2 or 3 years down the road when they're vastly overpaid DHs stuck in RF. Ozuna/Castellanos make the 2020 White Sox better than Mazara does. But Mazara is basially on a 1 year deal, and we're not stuck with 2 DH in the OF for the half of the next decade.
  14. Yah, I mean. They're going to spend some money on FA SP. At this point, I fully expect Keuchel (3/$50M type deal) and a Porcello/Gonzalez/Wood type on a 1 year deal for the back end. Maybe a Gennett or Deitrich to fill in at 2B and then bench. Pretty underwhelming finish to an offseason that I had exceptionally high hopes for after signing Grandal.
  15. I get it, but if you don't see the difference between 2020 and 2021, I don't know what to tell ya. But ya, I would prefer a better player in RF in 2020 than Mazara - we're on the same page there.
  16. Or its just the Sox old way of doing business. If you're going to pivot to a money saving move (regardless of if its to save money for Rendon, or to save money for Jerry), at least find a good player. David Peralta would have been an exceptionally better option because at least he can provide good defense along with above average hitting against RHP.
  17. But also because he's not a long term commitment. I no fan of this move overall, but Mazara at $5.7M for a 1 year is world's better log term than Ozuna at 5/$90M or whatever he's going to get. Ozuna makes the 2020 White Sox better than Mazara - Mazara makes the 2021-2024 White Sox immensely more flexible both on field and and monetarily.
  18. Because if Mazara doesn't improve drastically, he is non-tendered after 2020. Its not that hard to figure out. He's basically a 1 year player on a $5.5-$6M deal with a club option at $8-9M. If he doesn't blossom in 2020, he's gone.
  19. I have zero confidence the Sox are even looking at Rendon at this point. You don't make the Mazara move right now if Rendon is even a longshot possibility.
  20. Ya I love that one. “If he’s good his agent is Boras and he’s good as gone!” Like who gives a fuck - if he’s good we just found a fuckton of surplus value. Not super excited for this move, but I had Mazara like 6-8 range on my RF target list. If Ricky uses him correctly, it’ll be alright.
  21. Well the Nimmo hope was fun to be rejuvenated for a hot 20 minutes.
