I had to jump on a conference call right as Leury got thrown out stealing 2B. Thought the game was over. Couldn't believe my eyes when I reopened the window to see Jose in a post game interview. Mercy!

Good lord, just leave Alonso in Boston.
-
Alonso will be DFA'd when Castillo returns. I am fairly certain of that. He may be gone before that.
-
3 SP on the current roster. Nova announced for Saturday, Gio for Sunday. Lopez going today. Santiago pitched yesterday and Detwiler on Monday. Covey making a rehab start tonight for Charlotte. Is #Ceaseday finally going to come. Frankly, he hasn't pitched well for about a month now. I doubt they go bullpen game 2 out of 3 games. He hasn't pitched since last Friday. It almost has to be Cease....right?

Yah I disagree. Even if Garcia is playing SS, we could use another IF. I don't htink they plan to keep Leury in the infield everyday now either. I do think Collins will stay when Castillo returns - Collins Dhs again RHP (occasional start at C), Castillo DHs against LHP (occasional start at C), McCann catches 5 days a week (occasional start at DH). I actually think it works quite well. I do agree that the Sox are carrying an extra reliever and option Fulmer or Ruiz, or DFA Osich. But that only solves 1 of the 2 rotation openings. Sox may able to get by through the ASG with 4 starts though. Bottom line is that Palka likely isn't really that close to getting recalled.
-
The Sox have 3 SP on the active roster. That will be addressed before bringing up Palka. They are also very short on infielders, so I imagine Mendick would be next. Then you have Castillo who needs to return from the IL in a week or so. Then maybe Palka gets his chance again. He's a bit down the pecking order, and wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him until September, unless there are several more injuries.
-
I don't think we have anyone on the bench but Collins. So not really an option.
-
So far so good. Nice to have him in the lineup so far.
-
Its nice to have another real major leaguer on the team.
-
Lol at that bunt. Ricky gonna Ricky.
-
Full slot value.
-
I can't wait until Ricky is gone. Seems like a good clubhouse guy, but he's just so insufferably bad at in-game management and making lineups its pathetic.
-
Any update on Lambert? Was the TJS speculation premature?
-
Dissenters are going to dissent. Until the Sox change prove them wrong, they aren't going to change their tune. Even then, they'll still find something to complain about. Probably that they paid too much!
-
Meh, if anything, it gives me some hope that they think Anderson's injury may be minor enough that he doesn't need an IL stint.
-
Yah, I agree. I could see it being Covey or Santiago, though. Still only 3 SP on the active roster and that obviously needs to change.

I once played catch with James Baldwin in the LF corner before a game when I was a little kid. That was pretty awesome. -
I will be so disappointed if Escobar or Goins are the who they bring up.

Collins is going to sit against most LHP. Get used to it.

Jon Jay was traded last June from the Royals to the Dbacks for 2 pitchers, one who has been pretty decent in the Royals minor league system and another who was interesting enough to be picked 9th overall in the rule 5 draft and the Jays are doing everything they can to keep him in their organization so far this year. People within the Royals have said they're kicking themselves for leaving Luciano unprotected. So, while the return may not be interesting (I said salary relief, which clearly isn't very interesting), its not farfetched at all to think Hahn could get someone to take the remainder of Jay's $4M salary and perhaps throw in a warm body. You may not like Jon Jay, but he has a career OBP over .350 across 10 major league seasons and can play all three OF positions. He doesn't really make a ton of sense for the Sox right now, but the guy is a major leaguer whether you want to give him that credit or not. But yah...LMAO.
-
This really isn't that complicated. Alonso will very likely be gone when Castillo returns. They will very likely run Jay out there everyday for the next month and eventually send him off to someone looking for a 4th OF for salary relief.
-
Jay is a meaningfully better hitter than the other 2 options, Cordell and Tilson. I understand not wanting Jay on the team, but he is very clearly the best option in the organization besides perhaps Robert who very obviously should not be in the big leagues right now.

Complete disagree here. Timmy struck out the previous AB with three called strikes, all of which were clearly balls. He was pissed. It was a strike when he b****ed at the ump, but I don't blame him at all. He definitely went into the clubhouse as saw those pitches were all balls on the previous at bat and had something to say. About as good as we can hope for outside of Ricky's obsession with Yoan 7th against LHP. Glad to see Collins get the starts with the lefty on the mound.

Been tooting this horn for a long time. Cept I’m dreaming bigger with Cole and Wood. Though there are definitely other LHP I would welcome instead of Wood.
