  1. Maybe its time we let the Sox take it slow with their kids. What is the rush? obviously he is too good for high A and will be in AA before long. Its all good.
  2. Hoping for a quick recovery from Adolfo. He is still my pick of the guy that is going to blow up and turn into a force with the Sox.
  3. Eloy has looked pretty much awful in the OF. But as I mentioned in another thread, moving him to 1B or DH right now would be crazy. He just spent $45M on the guy...we need him in the OF. You can always make him a DH down the line, and that will likely be necessary, but right now is not the time. Hopefully he can improve out there.
  4. Now is not the time to make Eloy a DH. The Sox can always do that later. Please stop banging this drum for the time being.
  5. Sounds about right to me. It sucks, but is what it is now. Should help the tank. Get Nicky some more at bats. Really hope this doesn’t lead to Engel in CF most days.
  6. I just really don't think there is any benefit to removing all doubt about Collins being a catcher at this point. We can always move him to 1b. Once that happens, there is 99% chance its never going back. We'll always have that option. I would prefer to use him as any early career Gattis/Carlos Santana/ Napoli type, then just making him a DH/1B only right away. I'd be fine with Ozuna or Castellanos. I think Castellanos would be a bit cheaper. Both are poor defenders.
  7. We expecting Gio back from the IL for the Wednesday start?
  8. They paid him less than the league min. At this point, its a complete non issue.
  9. He was awesome in rookie ball last season as well.
  10. Yah. The Sox did something right here. Credit where credit is due, and such. I imagine this was part of the negotiation. So Ervin, your best offer is currently $2.15M, we'll double that, but if we DFA you within the first 45 days of the season and you reject the assignment, you're only due the pro-rated amount of $4.3M. A man who has made over $110M in his career probably went for the upside at a place he felt he had a good opportunity.
  11. Doubt Cease had anything to do with it. I'm guessing Santana preferred to bet on himself and make $4.3M if he pitched well and hung in the big leagues as opposed to taking some other much lower deal that may have been fully guaranteed.
  12. That is what everyone thought. Turns out he signed the 45 day consent form. Probably why Hahn was somewhat coy when asked about dropping $4.3M on Santana. Basically he said (paraphrasing) that's not for sure. Everyone thought that meant Hahn was saying someone else could pick up Santana, but (obviously) Hahn knew about the advance consent. FWIW - it is not 100% clear to me if Santana accepted his assignment, if the $4.3M would have still been due to him. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/04/white-sox-designate-ervin-santana-for-assignment.html
  13. That is what we all thought, but it turns out the Sox made Santana sign a 45-day advance consent clause. Basically what that means is that a team can release a player within the first 45 days of the season without any future obligations. So basically the Sox owe him the pro-rated about of $4.3M, which based on his amount of time on the roster, should be less $450k.
  14. Wow - so basically the Sox only owe him the pro-rated amount of $4.3M, which should be about $425-450k. Not nearly as bad as $4.3M. Also, that was really dumb of Santana.
  15. Let's sweep the O's. They played pretty well against us last week, but they are an awful baseball team. Looked awful this weekend against the Twinkies.
  16. Yah, I see a 2 year/$25-30M extension happening before this season is over.
  17. Is this just negative speculation or you know something?
  18. At this point you definitely need to keep running him out there.
  19. If Eloy has to go to DL, fuck it, give me Tilson. So done with Engel.
  20. “Will be re-evaluated tomorrow”
  21. Left ankle sprain. Xrays negative
  22. Evan Marshall next in line in Charlotte? I know he's not on the 40 man, but hes' yet to give up a run. Looks like it could be bit of good luck, however.
  23. Yah, I don't know. Its puzzling. Glad he's gone, but its just amazing how much money Hahn and Co wasted this offseason.
