  1. Scholtens has honestly earned getting a crack at a starting role. I say give it to him.
  2. Leasure looks like an interesting pen prospect. 1.057 WHIP, 14.4 k/9 v. 4.1 bb/p this season.
  3. Nastrini is a pretty legit prospect, and immediately probably our 2nd best SP prospect. Considering what we gave up and the dollars attached, him alone would have been a win.
  4. 1.50 WHIP in AAA. What could go wrong. Claim Tucker Davidson, please.
  5. Poor guy. Disaster season when there was quite an opportunity in front of him.
  6. LAA DFAd LHP Tucker Davidson. Sox should have taken him back in the deal. Id much rather see what we have with him than Sammy Peralta. May well end up on the Sox anyway as if he isn't traded I am sure Sox will put in a claim and they're 3rd in line.
  7. It cost LAA about $1M in tax. Not that costly. The Angels farm is terrible - we literally just got 2 of their best 3 prospects. Not a whole lot else to get by eating a couple million.
  8. Yeah, he got absolutely shelled and then optioned. IIRC, they brought him in with bases juiced and then proceeded to walk 2 of the next 3 guys.
  9. Probably just saving it for Clevinger tomorrow. But yah, would be playing short today.
  10. You sure went from Gio isn't returning anything of note to Quero is protected prospect in a hurry.
  11. Sox recall Sammy Peralta. No word on the other move, which is sorta strange.
  12. And what if Giolito didn't want to sign an extension and would rather bet on himself in FA, and then he walks for nothing but a 3rd round comp pick? Based on the Sox record and Giolito's contract status, retaining him would have been absolutely insane. You can say 'well, we should have extended him" all you want, but they didn't so its a rather moot point.
  13. Solid deal. Can’t complain aboit getting one of the best catching prospects in the game for like 10 Gio starts. Bush for ReyLo seems fine; arguably LAAs best pitching prospect. Nice deal on paper, and not even prospects that are mlb ready. A few Soxtalk narratives squashed with this deal!
  14. One of the more insane takes this place has ever had. A true gem
  15. Downgrading defense at two positions has never made much sense to me, but I am more open than I ever have been to moving Yoan around. Mainly just because there is really nowhere else to play Burger with Eloy and AV on this roster, and they should all play when they're healthy enough to.
  16. It’s been widely reported that the Sox were the high bidder on Wheeler and his wife preferred the east coast. Doing nothing because you’re scared to lose a trade is 1000000x worse. But alright
  17. Got it. Can't argue with that. Read your comment more as take the best offer you get between now and his next scheduled start. Wouldn't be opposed to skipping him.
  18. The Sox have the same chance to have Giolito on the 2024 roster whether they trade him in the next week or make the awful decision to retain him for the next 2 months. It makes no difference at all. Giolito - like 99% of the all FAs - will sign with whoever offers the most money. It is super duper highly unlikely that is the White Sox. All things being equal, of course we'd rather have Giolito on the 2024 than not considering the state of the Sox SP staff. But you absolutely take what you can get for him now, which honestly, is probably someone that will be on that 2024 SP staff.
  19. I said its better to trade him before the next start, but you don't take a lesser offer than you think you can get a few days later due a remote chance he gets hurt. Hopefully they get their ask met in the next few days and its a non issue.
  20. Ehh there’s plenty of ways he pitches for the Sox again. I’d certainly prefer to move him before his next start purely to avoid an injury, but if the Sox don’t get the offers they like, they should take it down to deadline day. This conversation sort of reminds me of conference tournaments in college hoops. Everyone is like my team needs to X, Y, Z to get into the dance or get this seed when it reality it has no impact. Short of an injury, Gios trade value isn’t changing by his performance next start, last start, or the start before.
