  1. Rendon isn't Arenado or Machado, but he certainly isn't meh. Career slash lines for all three: Rendon: .285/.361/.469 Machado: .282/.335/.487 Arenado: .291/.346/.530
  2. I would prefer not to give Preller an opportunity to fleece us again. And I am guessing Padres would rather keep Myers for now since they just acquired a $300M 3B to help them win baseball games sooner rather than later.
  3. FWIW, I don't disagree with you. But if that is what it took to get him, I'd do it. The alternative is for it to never happen. But yah, opt out after 4 or 5 seasons is far more palatable.
  4. Maybe we'll record our first win, playing against Royals split squad. 205pm game time. Looks like it'll be streamed on Chisox.com for mlb.tv customers. Lineup: Engel CF, Anderson SS, Abreu DH, Alonso 1B, McCann C, Leury 3B, Madrigal 2B, Cordell RF, Tucker LF Jimmy Lambert on the bump.
  5. 2020 being the beginning of the window of contention is fucking pipe dream at this point. That went out the window when Kopech got hurt, and the Sox completely fucked up acquiring a HOF caliber 3B at age 26.
  6. I mean....I agree, but whats the point in keeping him? At best, 67% of his remaining control is going to be on sub .500 teams. Moncada still has 5 years...Eloy 7 (if the Sox don't botch that)...the calculus is different. I love Rodon and still think he can be a really good major league SP. The best play is probably to hope he blows up this year and trade him in July or next offseason. But he's another injury away from likely having very little value whenever he returns.
  7. Yah, I wasn't on board for trading Rodon at all until like...now. But whats the point in keeping him now? At most you're getting 1 impending FA season of him with this team competing. 2020 is toast. 2019 is another tank year. I suppose you let him go out this season, hopefully look like an ace, and trade him for a ransom in July. That is probably still the right play..but certainly not risk free. I think Pint still has a good deal of value. I personally like Tapia alot. Still just 25. Has absolutely raked in the minors and never really been given a chance in the Rox crowded OF. He'd a perfect guy to get in the backend of a deal, IMO. Obviously Welker is the big catch though, and if you can get another one of their nice pitching prospects with Pint (like Lambert), it makes alot more sense.
  8. Yah...tried not to be too pie in the sky. Would definitely prefer Welker, Lambert, Pint and Tapia...but that seems like a lot for an intriguing but often injured pitcher that only has 3 years of control and neutral value aging 1B on a 1 year deal.
  9. Honestly tho... Something like: Rockies Receive: Abreu, Rodon and Steele Walker Sox Receive: Colton Welker, Riley Pint, Ramiel Tapia and a lottery ticket (Breiling Eusebio maybe?) Who says no? Rockies looks a tad thin on OF depth in the minors, but should be covered in IF long term no with Rodgers, Story and Arenado. Would love to get Lambert or Rolison in this deal instead of a final lottery ticket....maybe including Walker could do that. Let's the Sox throw Tapia out in CF this season and see what he can do. At this point, I'd do it. 2020 is fucked. Trade Rodon.
  10. Send them Abreu and Rodon for Welker + Pint + something. Lets burn this MF'er to the ground.
  11. Who TF is Hahn earmarking his money for now? Its Harper or bust. Pay the fucking man.
  12. Seriously tho. I am not more interested in Harper than ever before. Pay the man his money to avoid spending top dollar on 2nd tier FA the next 2 offseasons.
  13. Yah, was mainly just spitballing to try and come up with a fair comparison for the age gap.
  14. I think he's beating 6/$219M fairly handily next offseason. He's 15 months older than Machado. So for apples to apples comparison, call it 2 years and 3 months older next offseason. Shave off 2 years off Machado's deal and he'd be looking at 8/$240M. So yah, I suppose I wouldn't blame him for taking 6/$219M based on the process Machado and Harper had to go through this offseason. But I still think he'd want to explore FA now that he's made it this far, unless he loves COL and want to be a Rockie for his career..
  15. For those that don't want to read it, they offered him 7/$245M including this season. So basically a 6 year $219M extension after the $26M he will make this season. I don't think he's going to take that.
  16. Moncada swining a hot stick early. Love to see it.
  17. Signing CarGo, Span and say...Logan Forsythe in the next couple weeks would be the most White Sox thing in the world to do. It wouldn't even surprise me at this point.
  18. When they have a team that supports doing such. We all hoped for 2020, but more likely 2021 now.
  19. Every single team in major league baseball would do the same thing that the White Sox and the Blue Jays are going to do. Every. Single. One. Eloy may not like it, but I doubt he's going to hang it over the Sox heads 7 years down the line. If he is as good as people hope he is, he isn't resigning with the Sox anyhow. The Sox also reportedly offered Eloy a contract extension late last summer and would have brought him up then. He, understandably, rejected that. So, it was partially his call.
  20. That would literally be the dumbest thing this organization could possibly do.
