  1. Perhaps, but I don't blame Harper one bit for rejecting an early offseason offer of 10/$284M or whatever the exact dollar amount was.
  2. Agreed. But acquiring one of the best few catchers in the game certainly can't hurt their chances of luring Harper (or Machado).
  3. Indians don't report until next Tuesday, so still a little time.
  4. His Jordan tweet kinda sorta insinuated it happening today.
  5. Still think Kluber is the wild card. If the Tribe is serious about trading Kluber, the Dodgers are a great fit with Verdugo as one of the main pieces.
  6. In what world is Machado not a household name? He is hand down one of the best 10 players in MLB.
  7. Sanchez, Alfaro, and any of Moniak/Hasley/Medina would be a home run for the Marlins. Phillies getting this done probably increases chances we end up with Joc as well.
  8. If the Sox get him signed, I hope it’s a straight 7 or 8 year deal without opt outs or swellopts, honestly.
  9. I bet they wait until 2020 as well, but since his clock is ticking, that changes the calculus a bit. If he sitting on the minor league DL, they certainly would wait until 2020.
  10. Per the Twitterverse. Just off the top of my head, that seems to like he would be ahead of schedule.
  11. $1.4M with another $4M in incentives. Another decent and very cheap option off the board.
  12. sure - not really a natural 2 hitter in that lineup, and I do not want Moncada batting 2nd against LHP. But yah, Guyer would work.
  13. Not really. He has raked LHP in his career. IF (and its admittedly a big if at this point) the Sox add Machado and Joc, Guyer is a very nice platoon piece. If he sucks in ST or early in the season, so what you cut him. All three of Palka, Engel and Delmonico have options. Against RHP (post Eloy arrival): Jon Jay RF Joc CF Machado 3B Abreu 1B / DH Eloy LF Moncada 2B Alonso DH / 1B Castillo C Anderson SS BN: McCann, Sanchez, Leury, Guyer Palka starts the year as the LF, goes down to AAA with Delmonico and Engel once Eloy arrives. All three guys have options. Against LHP (post Eloy arrival): Jon Jay CF Alonso DH / 1B Machado 3B Abreu 1B / DH Eloy LF Castillo C Moncada 2B Guyer RF Anderson SS BN: Joc, McCann, Sanchez, Leury
  14. Mentioned him as a great platoon fit for the Sox a week or two ago. I like it.
  15. Last appeared in the Mexican League in 2017.
  16. Ahhh, makes sense. Wasn't clear, but makes sense when you state it that way.
  17. Long term, I agree. But for now, he needs to learn to be more aggressive. I think putting him in the 2 hole may cause him to think too much right now. We just need him to see ball, and when in zone, swing at ball. Back to the basics.
  18. It doesn't work great for lineup construction, but I would be kind of tempted to just let Yoan bat in a place that doesn't put unnecessary pressure on him or require him to think too much at the plate. Just stick him in the 6th or 7th spot against RHP and 7th or 8th against LHP and just let him hit without worrying about that things that come with being a leadoff hitter or batting in the 2 hole.
