  1. Valencia does still torch LHP - .295/.371/.496 slash his last three seasons. Not really an OF, but did play 17 games in RF last season.
  2. If Joc is added in the coming days, thinking Nicky starts in AAA and Palka is the 3 week stand in, that likely goes to AAA when Eloy arrives. First three weeks: LF: Jay; CF: Joc; RF: Palka; 4th OF: Engel Rest of season: LF: Eloy; CF: Joc; RF: Jay; 4th OF: Engel Engel probably sticks on the roster unless the Sox add a RH bat that can play all three OF positions. Brandon Guyer is a dude who had torched LHP most of his career, but he was awful last season. Maybe someone to look at for an milb deal with an invite to ST, though. Not sure how he is defensively at this point. There really are not any FAs left that can play a legitimate CF other than Pollock.
  3. MM is not turning down $200M+ to take a 1 year deal. I promise you.
  4. In another chapter of the terrible ballpark name changes, Miller Park will be called American Family Insurance Park beginning in the 2021 season. Awful.
  5. Why sign for $250M today, when you know that offer will still be there in a month, and you could extract more value from another club, whether that means signing with them, or just getting the sox to up theirs. At this point, this isn't ending any time soon.
  6. Whats the hurry for Machado tho? He knows the White Sox aren't going anywhere.
  7. I was surprised to see how useful Cabrera has still been the last couple seasons. I am also surprised that he's only 32.
  8. Makes sense. I think most are just spitballing moves that make some sense for both clubs. Taking on Hill would obviously lower the prospect capital needed to acquire Joc, and the Sox do need another SP and still have plenty of payroll space for a spendy 1 year of Hill, afterall. But I also totally understand the Sox not wanting to commit $18M on one year of Rich Hill in what is likely a .500ish season even with Machado, Pederson and Hill on the roster.
  9. Money is a significant issue for the Dodgers if they want to add more FA. They have interest in Pollock, and most people think they're at least monitoring the Bryce market, and LAD is likely a preferred destination for Harper himself. They're bumping up against the luxury tax and moving Hill would allow them to add Pollock or maybe even Harper with some more maneuvering. Its been stated over and over again that LAD is going to do everything in their power to stay under the luxury tax this season. I am not saying the Dodgers are for sure interested in moving Hill, but it definitely makes a ton of sense.
  10. Taking on Rich Hill I assume would quickly move us to the front of the line of bidders on Joc. That likes has more value to the Dodgers than the mid tier prospects they’re gonna get anyway. Id personally prefer to hang onto Fulmer if possible, but it’s not like I think his inclusion is an overpay. I’d just rather give him another season before giving up. Joc + Hill (no money from LAD) Bummer + Lambert + Stephens
  11. There are plenty of guys I’d trade. Just no point in selling rock bottom on a dude with 1-1 skills, who 15 months ago was filthy in the minors and approaching the fast track. Best piece I’d be willing to move is Rutherford in a deal for a SP. But I’d be willing* to trade guys like Yolmer, Leury, Palka, Delmonico, some arms like Bummer, Adams, Stephens, Mederios, Lambert, and Flores. Obviously not just willynilly trading guys for players that could just be signed on the FA market.
  12. This post is spot on IMO. Obviously you never draw a line in the sand, but the key guys are not going anywhere. I also think having too many good players is also a good problem to have. Joc Pederson is not blocking anyone right now.
  13. I feel like Hector Gomez is just trying to make himself more famous by being Mannys insider / hype man. Getting close to trolling at this point. Has to keep his name out there.
  14. I took the “added to” more as “more to come”...like there are additional details to share in the negotiations.
  15. Both Jay and Alonso have been high OBP players for the majority of their career. Neither has great 2018s, but both are legit Major League Baseball players on fairly paid contracts. Again; I like Palka, and if he were out of options my opinion would be different - but he couldn’t even crack .300 OBP last season. This team badly needs guys who can get on base. Palka Also provides zero defense of value. I just don’t understand the fuss. Having depth is very valuable.
  16. Lol. I like Daniel Palka. To think that he’ll be a better player than Yonder Alonso next season is silly. He has an option left and can easily spend next season in Charlotte. You’re complianing for the sake of complaining (shocking).
