  1. First off, Yolmer isn't very good. I'd definitely take a healthy Tulo (which is a big if) as a starter at 3B (if MM ship sails) at the major league minimum over Yolmer. If he doesn't workout, there is literally nothing lost. Yolmer will still be there. $500k is nothing for the Sox. Its worth the extremely minimal risk, and clearly they're at least somewhat interested since someone went to watch his workout. The Jays just wanted to move on. It wasn't due to accepting or not accepting. They have other options and Tulo was just a distraction at this point. Alot of baseball people are also scratching their head at the Jays decision to just cut him loose. Tulo isn't signing with the Sox though. He's going to sign with someone out west.
  2. Yah, I think its just the "agreeing to terms" part that is left. Contract details and drafting can be hammered out between agreeing to terms and official announcement. I I think we hear about Manny's decision by Sunday at the latest.
  3. Id be shocked if at least ballpark offers are not already on the table.
  4. So you're either Soxnet on Twitter, or that dude just copy and pasted this post as as tweet.
  5. Aren't you just a ball of fuckin' sunshine.
  6. Rooting for Putnam. seems like a good dude, and he was actually quite good for the Sox when healthy.
  7. I'd definitely add him to the mix for $560k or whatever ML min is this season. Why the heck not? That being said, if the reports are true that he basically only wants to play SS, then I doubt we'll get him. He is also a west coast guy, so I bet we see him sign with the A's, Angels or Giants. Or Dodgers, would definitely be a Dodger move, even though there is really no room for him there.
  8. Regarding the bolded, those guys clearly aren't paying attention.
  9. Id do it pretty quickly, which means the Dbacks probably wouldn't. I like the idea though, and its definitely creative.
  10. You're not getting either player for these terms, and we know the Sox are offering more than that or MM and Harper wouldn't be wasting their time. And both are going to get opt-outs, and likely will take them. Paying Harper $30M+ in his 30's probably isn't going to happen, because he'll have opted out and someone will be paying him more!
  11. What do you consider a bad deal? Can't wait for this answer.
  12. Everyone is going to want Arenado. Waiting for him would be stupid.
  13. Dunning could probably pitch in the majors right now. The chances of him never cracking it are very low, unless he has career ending injury.
  14. Ummm I think 2 top 100 prospects, plus another guy that isn't far behind, gets you a pretty darn good SP. This is a pretty darn good package.
  15. It would likely be $80M+. Under that would be a huge win IMo.
  16. That’s a bit much, but yah at least seeing the guy has 68 followers first. Twitter is an endless cesspool.
  17. It’s about time the conversation in this thread switched to Machado. He is the guy we need. Harper would be amazing as well, but MM is just such a better fit. Of course, getting Machado signed can’t hurt with Harper if JR decides to have some fun and go for it for the next harlf decade. The organization has earned the ability.
  18. I have a feeling that MM and his agents have discussed dollars with the Sox before arriving in Chicago. And yah, maybe the Phillies spend "stupid money" and offer MM $400M, and if that is the case, yes he probably is signing there. But that is far from guaranteed, and using the term "remote" just seems like blind pessimism at this point. I understand the reluctance to believe the Sox will actually do what is necessary to sign either of these guys, but all signs currently point to them being the running.
  19. You've mentioned that. The fact that MM is in Chicago right now and is 1/3 teams he is visiting in person this week, evidence seems to suggest otherwise.
  20. 1. Buehrle 2. PK 3. JD 4. Big Frank Too many to list for #5: Bobby Jenks, Thome, Sweaty Freddy, Ray Durham, Chris Sale, Jose Quintana....the list goes on...
