Perhaps, but this quote didn't sound overly sarcastic - "That said, yes Rodon's K rate is down, he was operating 92-94 a lot last night and is pitching to contact, but a young pitcher, coming off injury in a lost season, no need to over extend."
They aren't shutting Rodon down. He's yet to eclipse 165 IP in the bigs in a season. He won't get there this season either, but they aren't shutting him down.
Rodon has been an absolute stud his last 10 starts. He looks every bit of the top tier SP the Sox though they were getting third overall in 2014. #theroadtorodon
People who dissect prospects for a living have him ranked the 2nd best prospect out of 2018 draft. Your bolded comment had no basis in reality other than just throwing shit at a wall.
Why is he throwing so few pitches?
First 2 starts in WS:
2 IP (39 pitches), 2 hits, 2 walks ,1 K, O ER
3 IP (50 pitches), 4 hits, 0 walks, 6 K, 2 ER
4 IP (75 pitches), 2 hits, 5 walks, 5 K, 1 ER
Seems like he's get an awfully quick hook.
Not that my opinion means much, but this isn't that bad. Kid was chatting with with buddies on a social media site. Did he say some dumb shit? Sure. Should he have been smarter than to do it on a public forum? For sure. But like someone else said, pretty much any guy that is 18-35 (I only use that range because I am in the middle of it) said dumb shit like that when they were teenagers.
You're kind of cranky dude. I apologize I missed it. No need to be a internet tough guy over a simple question (that I edited), especially when I wasn't even talking to you.
Cordell has missed the majority of the season with a back injury. I believe he is OPSing over .800 since his return. Realistically with Leury hurt, Cordell should be up getting regular at bats over a guy like Ryan LaMarre. Cordell is probably nothing, but they're going to give him a shot at some point.
Castillo placed on DL this morning with "shoulder inflammation".
His suspension must have been up. Sox twitter says he will continue to rehab in Charlotte.
The Sox are doing the right thing here. Long term, 162 games in a potentially meaningful season is far more valuable (even if is an expensive season) than 40ish in a lost season.
I assumed he'd go Sunday on regular rest. I'd be a little surprised to see him go Friday on short rest even though he had an abbreviated start on Tuesday. I figured they'd go Shields (Thur), Lopez (Fri), Gio (Sat), and Kopech (Sun).
But I see what you're saying with the listed probables today.
