  1. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 02:03 PM) Speaking of that, what's up with Saladino? I'd probably just waive Pelfrey see if anybody wants to pickup the 250k or so that he's owed, if not, who cares. Pelfrey has been our 2nd best pitcher the last past 2 months. My guess is when Holmberg goes 3+ today, Minaya is asked to mop up 3-4 innings, and is sent back down for Rodon, and Holmberg back to the pen.
  2. Just saw Cleuluis Rondon was released. Yikes. That bat certainly never developed.
  3. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) Had not been Eaton's injury, I doubt that's the case for the Sox. In order for them to get fair value back, one of the three pitchers would have to generate the same value (WAR) for the Sox as Eaton would have over the course of his contract. The probability of that happening is not likely. The whole Sox fleeced Nats narrative was an overblown. It was based on the assumption that Giolito was a still a top 3 RHP prospect in the game. Clearly he is not that, but he is making steps in the right direction. I still think this trade has the makings of a big winner for the Sox, but certainly not a sure thing. But its a trade you do all day when you're rebuilding.
  4. Why? Both suck. Have nearly identical AAA stats in SSS. Infante better MLB stats is SSS. Only reason I could think of is Minaya in 3 years younger and has a non-zero chance of being a part of the next Sox bullpen that matters, but just seems like a strange move to me.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 12:02 PM) Minaya up, Infante down Strange move. Whats the purpose?
  6. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) I just don't see a match with the Astros. Outside of Tucker and Bregman, neither of whom appear to be available, there isn't much to be excited about there at all. I'm not trading Quintana for some live arms. I really hope the Sox don't deal with Houston. If I log on one days and see "Q traded to Astros," I am going to cringe, because the return may look good on paper but not actually fit the bill for what this team needs. The Yankees are a much better fit. The Rockies, Dodgers and Cubs would be as well if they were interested. No way a deal with Houston gets done without Tucker.
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) Highly unlikely Rodgers is available via trade after batting .384 in the minors this season so far with a 1.068 OPS. I haven't looked in awhile, but a few weeks ago his home / road splits were crazy. I think he plays in an absolute bandbox. Still think he is very intriguing, but the numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) Another thing to watch is how much $$ they eat in the Frazier/Robertson/Melky trades. I think they'll need to eat the majority of Frazier and Melky's contracts to even garner any interest. I'd be shocked if we got anything remotely interesting for either of them.
  9. I gave it a 6. Last winter's trades: 8.5 Robert Signing: 9.5 2017 Draft: 7 2017 MLB performance of trade assets: 1.5 Accumulates into a solid 6. Frazier, Jones, Putnam, Petricka, Jennings, Gonzalez all being bad or hurt has really put a damper on what could have been really good to solid trade pieces. And that sucks. Quintana having 3 dumpster fire starts has not been helpful, and I doubt he is traded this summer. All we really have to trade is a fairly paid Robertson who may return 1 decent piece, and then we have two 2 diamond in the rough types in Avi and Kahnle - and who knows how much we'll actually be able to get for those 2. Its a damn shame, and why I was not on the "tank" bandwagon until after the deadline. Avi, Kahnle, and to a lesser extent Abreu, have really been the only bright spots of 2017.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 05:25 PM) What's wrong with McMahon? With the way he's playing this year, he's probably my favorite piece after Rogers. His bat is fine, but we don't need more 1B / DH types. Much much much prefer Dahl, but obviously he is a more attractive piece. Quintana and Robertson for Rodgers, Dahl and Tapia would be a great deal for the Sox.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) Which offer do you take for Q: Astros - Tucker, Paulino, Fisher, Colin Moran Dodgers - Verdugo, Calhoun, Buehler, Kyle Farmer Rockies - Rodgers, Tapia, McMahon, Almonte Yankees - Frazier/Rutherford, Mateo, Sheffield, Florial Which deals would require a + (be it Frazier for the Yankees, relievers for the others) to get it done, how much, etc. Astros for sure, but that Rockies package is interesting. Give me Dahl instead of McMahon and Almonte and I'd much prefer the Rockies. Or Dahl instead of Almonte, and Sox throw in a reliever. Heck, I'd give them Robertson.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) In his press conference he said he signed a contract to play on Sunday's. Contract? Lol, must be a hell of a softball league. Buehrle is seriously the man though. I live in Minneapolis so couldn't make the festivities this weekend, but tried to watch all the videos I could, the main ones multiple times. So many great memories growing up watching the Sox, and MB was always right in the middle of it. We as Sox fans certainly took his dependability for granted in the moment, but it is truly unbelievable what he accomplished. I'm not ashamed to say that a few tears were shed this weekend. Thanks for everything you did for the White Sox, Mark. One of the games finest.
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) I will definitely shed some tears tomorrow. I did at PK's final game and the number retiring. Definitely grew up at a prime time to be a fan (I'm 26 and started I guess becoming a fan late 90s). 26 as well and couldn't agree more. MB, the hurt, PK, 05. Some of this franchises finest hours and players.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 08:21 AM) Just a prediction, but I think this is how it lays out Quintana starts before 7/31: 6-27 vs Yankees 7-2 vs Rangers 7-8 at Rockies 7-18 vs Dodgers 7-24 at Cubs 7-29 vs Indians I think they'll stay away from 7-31 being his start date for obvious reasons, and 7-30 is Hall of Fame day, where I think MLB will tell teams not to take away from that. The Sox have a day game while the speeches are going on. Tough to tell teams not to make trades hours prior to the trade deadline.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) Quintana and Frazier (can play 1B/3B) to the Yankees for Clint Frazier, Chance Adams, Jorge Mateo, and Estevan Florial. Robertson to the Nationals for Carter Kieboom and Jesus Luzardo. Can't figure out who Kahnle would go to Packaging Frazier with Q probably hurts Q's value. I don't see the sox doing that.
  16. Looks like Alec Hansen and Jameson Fischer have been promoted to WS.
  17. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) Per the Doppler Radar, that rain ain't ending in Minny any time soon. Ehh. Looks like another 45 mins to an hour and then clear. But I am no meteorologist.
  18. Braved the rain for about 2.5 hours. Decided I may as well go back to work for a couple hours since I have a softball game at 630. They'll definitely get this game in, first pitch just probably wont be until 5.
  19. It's been an ugly year, no doubt about it. That said, still a bunch of upside in that contract. I still think he'll be a league average SS before all is said and done.
  20. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) If that remains the case, and the Sox keep him then they need to consider him for DH when they get good again (although in that case what do you do with Jose?) Both are controlled 2 more years. One or both will be gone in 2020.
  21. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 02:03 PM) I highly doubt the White Sox are going to be taking salary on this year. I doubt it too. But they should at least be open to it. Not necessarily for Panda, but just in general.
  22. Via Twitter. Assigned to Charlotte. Appeared in a couple games with Nats this year.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) I don't mind rolling with Delmonico and/or Hayes at 1B with Abreu the primary DH while still getting semi-consistent at bats throughout the season. Abreu semi-consistent at bats, or Delmonico/Hayes?
  24. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 09:52 AM) Who or what did we give up for Youkilis? Lillibridge and Zach Stewart.
