Would Beck be a guy we could get underslot at 11?
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) Well we previously drafted him, so that always shows interest and often seems to reconnect. He lost about a year in Missouri to an injury (not TJ), and struggled enormously to control anything. This year he was better, but I've seen nothing that projects him as more than a reliever. He would be a great relief prospect, but good arm, no control relief prospects don't seem like round 2/3 guys, especially with TJ already. Thanks. Name definitely sounded familiar.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) I still think we take Montes de Oca in the 2nd or 3rd. Whats the story with this cat? The "still" makes it seem like there is a backstory.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:59 PM) Could this have anything to do with Moncada possibly going back on the DL ? Hanson would have to clear waivers to go to AAA.

I see on the white sox transaction pages that the Nats traded some cat named Mick VonVossen to the Sox a couple days ago. Wonder is this is related to the Raburn deal? Seems quick for a PTBNL to be announced. TRANSACTION PAGE

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:28 PM) At the time he was waived, there probably was a team or 2 worse in the AL. But your point stands. Yep. Curious to see what the Sox do here. Could always just option Willy Garcia. Or Minaya. Or Infante. There are lots of options.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) All though to be fair, if the Sox won the claim, that means he got through the entire NL, plus almost all of the AL as well. Dont the Sox have the worst record in the AL? Meaning he got through the whole NL, but none of the AL.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) AAA I assume. He is out of options, so may as well start him there. Maybe not. Didn't realize he spent at year in on the big league club. So in order to get him to AAA, pretty sure Sox would have to expose him to waivers as well.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) Does he go on the 25 man roster or minors AAA I assume. He is out of options, so may as well start him there.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 02:13 PM) Yet more sickening disrespect of Eddy Alvarez Yah, nothing more exciting than a guy OPSing .692 in his 2nd trip through AA as 27 year old!! Alan Hanson is a guy everyone on here wanted a few years back in a trade. Trying to think of who it was we were looking to move at the time at Pittsburgh was rumored as interested. Peavy maybe?

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) Quintana's FIP of 4.10 is really not that bad. That shows he has been pretty unlucky this season and his numbers should improve. 3 1/2 seasons of a quality left handed starter should not come cheap. The Astros are very much a contender right now, and for the next few seasons. Tucker, Martes and Musgrove might be too much for them to stomach, but a deal could still be built around their prospects. That deal just isn't a great fit for us. I'd prefer Tucker, Fischer (who has been absolutely raking in AAA), Reed and Perez.

For those who follow college ball more than I, does anyone keep a somewhat up to date mock of the 2018 draft? Curious to see where Beer is slotted these days. Thanks.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/c...ries/102635742/ Carlos Correa comes out and says that the Astros need another #1 #2 top of the rotation type pitcher to make a deep run. Quintana for Tucker ++ Just not gonna get top dollar for Q right now. Maybe if he rights the ship the next 6 weeks, you move him right before the deadline, otherwise it is best to wait this thing out.

Lets get him in, Sox fans.

June 7th game Thread: White Sox@ Tampa Bay Rays

Let's rough this Faria cat up. Haven't even heard of him. -
No Micker? I suppose he's cooled off a bit lately.
-
May as well.

Pretty sure it is Brendan McKay not Hunter McKay.

QUOTE (ron883 @ Jun 4, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) Yolmer is making this decision much more difficult. Well at least your prognosticating record is rock solid.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 31, 2017 -> 01:35 PM) I honestly don't think the market really accurately values that kind of difference in control at this point. It seems as though anything over 2 years sort of falls into a bucket of "controllable," while anything less falls into "rental." Mmmmhmmm.

It is probably pretty much a foregone conclusion that Quintana is not going to be traded during this season. But thankfully, we still control him for 18, 19 and 20, so we still have plenty of time to deal him. Having 4 very affordable years on his deal put Q's value past the point of what anyone was willing to give up. The Sox will likely be able to get a very comparable package to what was offered last offseason this coming offseason, or even after 2018. There is a point of diminishing returns, and his contract status was past that. It sucks he's taken a clear step back so far this year, but really, it isn't the end of the world.

May 30th Game Thread: ChiSox vs. BoSox
ChiSox59 replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in 2017 Season in Review
QUOTE (Wanne @ May 30, 2017 -> 08:06 PM) Quintana/Schwarber trade makes so much sense....honestly...they're not doing either team any good. That would be a horrible trade and one you could still make in a year or two. -
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 28, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) Well a 20-25 HR guy with an .800+ OPS is never going to be the worst player in a given lineup- probably one of the best. Personally I'd love a Delmonico/Davidson Corner combo with Abreu at DH/Backup 1B. Add in Good Frazier and I dunno where any of these guys are going to play. And then Yolmer and Saladino too? Glad I'm not Hahn or Rick this July. Delmonico cannot and will not play 3B regularly at the major league level.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 26, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) And to excitement of many, could get them Beer. Isn't Beer considered to be more like a mid first rounder at this point?

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 25, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Volberg is my guess Volstad? It's Danish, and it's a stupid move. No reason for no Lopez.
