Nice post. Not that I expect the Sox to use it, but does Tyler have any options left?

QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 17, 2017 -> 11:26 AM) Here's Dave Cameron's response to your proposal: Hmm. Interesting comment. Seems to downplay Rodgers and Dahl a bit, but I guess that is promising.

QUOTE (striker @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) Quintana + Jones for Dahl, Rodgers, Hoffman, Almonte, Pedro Gonzalez. This would get me very excited. Which means it probably isn't possible. To get Dahl, Rodgers and Hoffman alone would be pretty fantastic. But to add more interesting pieces? Probably a pipe dream.

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ May 17, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) While I agree it's premature to pencil Yolmer in as an everyday 2B, or to say his presence has much effect on Moncada, I would quickly and happily move Moncada to CF to make room for Yolmer if need be. Moncada will be up for his bat — IMO there's not reason to shoehorn him to 2B where he'll never be elite defensively when he could play CF, where he has a chance to be. I would hate to lose Yolmer's glove (or anyone's for that matter) just because we thought Moncada has to play 2B in the majors, when his bat will play anywhere and his speed + arm would transfer well (maybe even better) to the OF. This too. I think Moncada will be given every chance to stick at 2B, but I wouldn't be totally floored if he ended up in CF by 2019. I don't think Yolmer or Saladino (and I like them both) will be the ones to push Moncada off 2B though. I think it will be Moncada being less than ML average at 2B, a need in CF, and perhaps someone else playing 2B by that time.
-
When Moncada comes up, I think 3B will be split mainly between Saladino and Yolmer. They'll both get looks at 2B and SS when Tim and Moncada need breathers. Having too many useful guys isn't a problem. I doubt either will be traded. Both wouldn't have much value, and they're cheap. Makes more sense to keep them unless someone wants to give up something interesting.

I like the nobody's idea. Holmberg, Covey and Infante.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) Is Charlie Tilson still alive? Good question. Although pretty likely that Leury is our CF until he proves he isn't. -
QUOTE (Dunt @ May 16, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) Minor league career statline: Yoan Moncada .294/.396/.484/.880 Ian Happ .275/.362/.472/.834 edit: misread Soxace post.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 15, 2017 -> 10:01 PM) I strongly suspect it's because many Sox fans are in the camp of agreeing it was long past time to rebuild and try something different and they are willing to buy-in for right now. I think the bolded is the key. If this team still blows in 2019, attendance is going to be awful.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 15, 2017 -> 06:39 PM) Fantastic - the Sox don't need him in 2 of those years, and possibly 3, but they'll have him. And I suspect that will happen to a lot of the players who the Sox should be full-bore on moving. They'll still have them. So what do you want? Seems to me you'll b**** either way.

Looks like he's toast.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:48 PM) If you pick 2, they both need a hit. Double or nothing. Got it, thanks.
-
So you have to pick 2 guys to get a hit each night? Or do just 1 of 2 need a hot?
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 15, 2017 -> 06:21 PM) His choices for tonight are Kevin Pillar and Ezequiel Carrera. Since when do you get to pick two players? I haven't played in years and years, but swear it only used to be 1.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 15, 2017 -> 04:16 PM) Indeed, the trade was terrible regardless of whether Tatis was a quality prospect. That he is, makes it horrific. Equally horrific is the fact that the Sox didn't know it (no sane person would have traded real talent and taken on that contract). Maybe Hahn can make up for his bout of lunacy by nabbing a top 100 for Holland. They didn't take on the contract. The Padres at 2/3's of it. If Shields comes back and pitches decently, the Sox will probably be able to find a suitor for him before that contract is over.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) I wonder if Soto goes on the 60-day...have a feeling he's toast for a while. Good call

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 15, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) I don't see the market for Quintana being all that super duper. They can get some good prospects, but not the elite. Plus, as per above, it appears that the best prospects of likely suitors are in their own positions of need. Good thing they control him for 3 more seasons after this one, then. Because they aren't trading him unless they get at least 2 elite prospects.

I don't think anyone is going to bat an eye if Alfredo Gonzalez or Cody Asche are DFA'd to make room. Probably Gonzalez because they probably would have just DFA'd Asche yesterday if that was their plan.

Larry at SSS says it will be Gregory Infante. Infante is not on the 40 man, and would require a move to make space, I believe.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:15 AM) I said it when it happened and I'll say it now - Diaz as the last piece in the Sale deal is extremely underwhelming. I have no idea why the Sox didn't take a hitter over him. Pretty sure they were after Moncada / Kopech / Devers. When DD wouldn't budge on Devers, they went with Basabe / Diaz. But I agree - Basabe should have been the 4th piece.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2017 -> 03:20 PM) From the same chat, 95 pct chance Giolito is a reliever according to scouts. What a fall for him Yikes. He still has time to figure it out. The Sox are just going to keep tinkering with him down in AAA until he finds something.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 12, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) Anderson to attend friend's funeral. Won't be back till Monday. Can they put him on the bereavement list for that? Guessing it has to be a family member. -
Sucks you have to subscribe to read.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 12, 2017 -> 01:45 PM) We bring players on board through free agency, the draft or trades and help them develop into successful contributors. All the while complaining as the struggle and learn and develop presumably because they aren't hall of fame level contributors from the get go. Once they find it and succeed we start calling for them to be traded for someone or something. Don't know what or who that might be. How do you build a winning team with that approach? I agree with this to a certain extent, but the Sox are pretty well stocked with arms. If you can turn a guy like Kahnle into an interesting position player prospect, you do it every time. Whether or not that can happen remains to be seen. As we all know, outside of Moncada and Collins, the Sox have very little on the farm in the way of everyday players that project to be MLB regulars. If the Sox can turn anything on the MLB roster that we control for a short period of time, or really any pitching outside of Rodon, into position player prospects that are more than minor league filler, the Sox should do it.

Surprised to see so many Burdi mentions. Wouldn't be shocked if we don't see him until September.
