  1. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 09:54 PM) Well let's say they trade Frazier and bring up Moncada, moving Saladino to third. It can be argued that move may actually improve the team in the present as well as the future. Say they trade Holland or Gonzales but one of their young pitchers is doing well in the minors. They would be replacing the departed pitcher from within plus be adding to the organization with the return from the trade. Trading Melky would be a little trickier unless they get a young outfielder back that's just about ready to play in the major leagues. Sox are in a good position as long as Hahn does it right. However, if he just starts haphazardly gutting the team for low level prospects that are years away while having nothing to replace what they traded, it will be a move backward. Hahn needs to hold out for value and be prepared to keep his players if the right price is not met. This. All depends on the returns. By all means trade if you get impact young talent. But of this team is contending, trading the impending FA for garbage that is never going to make the big leagues does nothing for me. But we still have a long way to go before we're at that point.
  2. This team was never as bad as most here thought it'd be. Still think Cleveland will run away with this division in the end, but wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox in the thick of things in early July.
  3. Dane Dunning to WS. Ian Hamilton to BIRM. RHP El'Hajj Muhammad released.
  4. Best of luck to Pelfrey against the (previous to their last 2 games) red hot Tigers offense.
  5. Pretty funny he's getting no run support from the Bo Sox so far this season.
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 04:08 PM) Initially I was pro-tank for the draft pick, but we're much better suited to guys playing well and building value than getting a draft pick a few slots higher. I'd rather get the #6 pick and have Kahnle/Swarzak/Holland/Gonzalez turn into viable trade pieces than get the #2 pick and have all of them suck. Glad some people are coming around to this line of thinking. So much better for the organization, IMO. Several other names you could add to that list.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 09:57 AM) We have seen Avi get hot before, exactly like this. There is not many reasons to believe this cat changed his stripes Has he had a 20 game stretch where he has been THIS hot though? We're now 20 games in and Avi leads the AL in hitting, and is top 5 in OPS. I don't think he has suddenly become a star, but its pretty obvious that something has clicked. He is keeping is bat in the zone much longer. He isn't overswinging on every pitch. He is using the whole field. That, combined with his improved conditioning, and I think we have seen a young player that is finally coming into his own. I don't expect Avi to lead the league in hitting, or heck, even eclipse .300 by seasons end, but it does seem like perhaps we finally have an above average contributor with the bat. Time will tell, and I remain a little skeptical, but I believe more and more everyday.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 09:38 PM) I realize last year's 23-10 renders all discussion stupid at this stage of the season. I mean I wish I could remember last year's 23-10 and how sharp the Sox looked and how well they were playing. But I have no clue. Can't remember. This year's team obviously won't be 23-10. We'll be under .500 after 33 games obviously. I get madder than anybody when the Sox anemic hitters get shut out and I expect us to get shut out a historic amount of times this year. But when Avi wins another game with his bat it does impress me. When this pathetic bullpen excels like this, I'm happy. And when some really horrible starters pitch this well, I'm ecstatic. Right now I'm thrilled with Renteria. Again, after our 100th loss I'll be furious at him I'm sure, but the team sure looks interested under a real manager. What a post!
  9. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 05:37 PM) Who else is going to be there? Seriously, he's earned at least another month of starts. Sure, but that's not what you said.
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 05:17 PM) I know we are suppose to suck but isn't winning more fun? Yes, much.
  11. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) CF is Leury's the rest of the year, unless he completely goes into the tank. He's earned it. Lol, a bit premature.
  12. Just put him on the DL for 10 days and bring up Delmonico for a quick cup of coffee.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 04:05 PM) Would definitely fit the trend of Rodon and Hansen falling to them And Sale, for that matter.
  14. Retroactive to April 23rd.
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 02:23 PM) 2020 C - Collins 1B - ? 2B - Moncada SS - Anderson 3B - ? LF - ? CF - Robert RF - ? DH - ? Starting 5 Possibilities: Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, Fulmer, Hansen, Dunning, Stephens, Adams Trades coming, drafts coming, free agents coming, yay. Heck of a lineup you got there!
  16. Lol, well you guys beat me to it.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) Out of curiosity, does anyone have R/L splits for Davidson from the minors? Are they extreme? 16: L: .312/.393/.532 - 3 HR (77 PA) R: .251/.332/.411 - 7 HR (207 PA) 15: L: .217/.304/.435 - 9 HR (161 PA) R: .196/.288/.349 - 14 HR (367 PA) 14: L: .176/.292/.331 - 5 HR (136 PA) R: .208/.279/.374 - 15 HR (342 PA) 13: L: .225/.333/.304 - 1 HR (102 PA) R: .296/.355/.534 - 16 HR (341 PA)
  18. I go back and forth. Sometimes he legitimately makes me laugh, and other times I hate his stupid one liners and attempts at jokes. He isn't a baseball guy, so he doesn't have much to add in that regard. I like Hawk more, but I do agree that Hawk clearly isn't as good as he was a few years ago. All in all, I'd say Benetti is fine, and will probably continue to improve.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) Guy brings up the Royals in so many posts over the past couple years to the point where it is pretty obvious. Caulfield ain't too far behind....
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 03:33 PM) Last year, the Royals were struggling some then got well just about every time they faced the White Sox. I suspect that will happen again this season. Look for Hosmer to finally bust loose and maybe Gordon (unless Gordon is finished which is possible). But I expect Hosmer to rake this series and well as Moustakas and Perez. In fact, look for tonight's game to be something like 9-1 KC. Again ... they get well when they play the White Sox. Was going to ask you who you root for in these KC/Sox battles, but this made it clear.
  21. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 02:47 PM) Bad numbers so far, but it's still very early in the season to be making any judgements Agreed, was moreso responding to the poster that said he was "crushing it".
  22. QUOTE (Soha @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=t...tching/2017/ALL A quick glance at his stats, and it looks like the homerun is killing Lopez so far. I still love him as a prospect though. 1.62 WHIP at AAA is pretty terrible. But its a SSS, and I expect him to continue to improve.
  23. I'm for it. Massive upgrade over what we're running out there right now. 2 years removed from being a PLUS PLUS CF. Nothing to lose, and its possible he turns into something useful that could be traded for more that organizational depth.
  24. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) It was totally over blown and we all kind of knew that at the time. We couldnt possibly know who got the better of that deal or any other deals until it plays out. Some people were acting like it was an absolute steal before anything even played out which was ridiculous. Mainly because Adam Eaton is a criminally underrated player. Most good baseball fans don't even know how good he is, let alone the causal follower.
