  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) Exactly. I think Whitley and Perez are being over looked in the board discussions. A few people have mentioned Perez though. If people were OK with including Keller in a trade with Pitt then I see nothing wrong with going after Whitley and Perez. Hell, I would rather have Whitley than Keller.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) This is way off topic but does anyone think the Sox should give Byung-Ho Park a shot? He was just DFAed by the Twins. Not at 3 years $10M.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) I think I would take Martes (#1), Tucker (#2), Fisher (#5), Stubbs (#30). Is this too light, too much, or close? I'd like to get Reed in there somehow.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 03:33 PM) Because they wouldn't want the Astros to get Quintana. I'm saying that it's a leak on the Sox side hoping that the Astros bite. Rangers call them out since they don't want the Astros adding a pitcher of Q's caliber to help them win now which is possible that it could still happen. I suppose. Could also get the Astros to pay more as well, but in terms of next year, ya...Q obviously makes them better.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) Dammit. A few sources on the Rangers side already shot this down. It makes sense that they would squish this rumor. They're trying to win now just like the Astros. That was fun for a whole 45 minutes. If they're trying to win now, why would they squish it?
  6. Mazara, Gallo, Tavarez, Mendez. Worth noting that Mazara has 1.0 full year of service (seems silly the Rangers didn't wait an extra week). So he would only have 5 years on control, 2 of which would likely be blown on s***ty teams. By the time the Sox may be good again (2019), he'll be getting expensive.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 02:50 PM) Mazara, Profar and Mendez enough? No. If Profar is part of the deal, it better be the last piece. Dude has less control than Q. Makes no sense.
  8. QUOTE (striker @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) Nate Jones is 31 and has Tommy John surgery. Giles was 26 when he was traded and a clean bill of health. Jones is cost effective but will be 35 in the last year of his contract. If we could get the Giles deal great. That being said, if you sell at the trade deadline, it's possible you get more. I dont disagree with the age disparity. While teams may have concerns over Jones injury history (most notably his back), TJS isn't really a big deal anymore. In fact, many teams think guys who have had TJS have potentially stronger elbows and less injury risk.
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 31, 2017 -> 11:06 PM) At least my divorce was finalized yesterday. Two years of court appearances to end a 4 year marriage. Talk about a nightmare. So relieved that I don't have to wear a lawyer hat anymore... it's gonna take a good couple weeks for me to sink into life without all of that nonsense. Just gotta send her some more money and pay some back taxes... then the only tie I'll have with her is our son. Good riddance - mistakes in choosing a mate aren't easily amended. : Cheers to your new life! Hope your little guy took it all in stride.
  10. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jan 31, 2017 -> 10:03 PM) If you love this kind of stuff you should be doing an online OOTP league.. Can someone explain to me what a OOTP league is? I've heard it mentioned here before. Just curious.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) Only six more months of this. At least we'll have baseball to watch in 2 months...even though about 85% of Soxtalk is going to be rooting for losses.
  12. MLBTR says he required TJS for a torn UCL. Poor guy is right.
  13. LOL at Keith Law. I bet Moncada is 2 or 3 on MLB Pipeline.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 03:16 PM) Robertson makes sense for Washington, but I can't imagine them paying up for him. Depending on where the Sox are willing to go in this deal, they have some great positional talent in their top 10, plus all kinds of catchers rated throughout their system, plus some interesting international signings in their low minors. Yah, a guy like Juan Soto would be interesting.
  15. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) nats are still looking for closer. romo the best of the free agents. robertson, colome (long shot) trade options https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/824722970027458560 Rizzo: Rick, have you changed you mind at all on Robertson? I am really only willing to move Severino for him. Hahn: Hey there, Mike. Was wondering when I'd hear from you again. Ya know, thing haven't changed over the past month. I am still going to need Robles from you. Rizzo: C'mon man, you know I can't do that. I was already roasted for the Eaton trade. Hahn: Mikey, Mikey...its not my fault the market for the FA closers has come and gone. Let me know when you're willing to talk. Rizzo: (click)
  16. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) It sounds like Hahn isn't budging but definitely intends on dealing Q and Frazier to the top bidders with this quote. I was reading a lot of that 'de-LaRoche only and not rebuilding' crap which was starting to make me worried. Which is EXACTLY what he should do.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 12:50 PM) There are definitely a few names that could be of interest in the Sox eyes. For example for a super cheap price, I wouldn't mind a guy like Jake Peavy around to show some of the kids how to compete with intensity. Others of note, Matt Harrison, CJ Wilson, Doug Fister, Henderson Alvarez, Jered Weaver Somebody to suck up some innings and be a warm body. Bringing back Peavy would be entertaining.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 10:42 AM) If there was a player on this roster I would have moved for a minimal price, it would have been him. He has no upside left to improve into, and a pretty good chance at flopping. Agreed - but someones gotta fill out the rotation. They want Giolito, Lopez and Fulmer in AAA until at least mid June.
  19. QUOTE (South Sider @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 10:06 AM) As I suspected, our farm is very very top heavy to a guy like Law. We gotta hope Hahn can come through for us with successful trades of our secondary pieces in the time leading up to the trade deadline to fill in the depth of our farm. It's not easy pulling off a rebuild, but you could argue that the hardest part is getting the top of your farm in order. This is why Hahn isn't messing around with the Quintana deal. He wants to add 1-2 more top pieces and then go for the best-available pieces for guys like Jones, Robertson, Frazier, Melky, Lawrie, Gonzalez etc. Hopefully in one years time there will be more White Sox on this top 100 list. There will probably be less as Moncada, Giolito, Lopez and Fulmer will have all graduated.
  20. You lost me early on, but if the Sox wanted to compete, they would have signed more stopgaps than Derek Holland. I actually liked the idea as I'd much rather cobble together a team that has a chance to compete than watch a team win less than 60 games, but it is pretty crystal clear that's not what is happening. The Sox are going to suck.
  21. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 09:33 PM) http://isportsweb.com/2017/01/25/chicago-w...ntana-continue/ Lol, that Astros package would make me cry in happiness.
  22. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 02:31 PM) Can we trade you as part of the rebuild? Best post made on here today. Honestly, Conte Giolito has become such a blowhard, he's made this site difficult to read lately. The admins should really consider giving him a few week time out. It's just brutal.
  23. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) Literally the worst starting pitcher in baseball. IN HAHN WE TRUST /yawn While Tatis was always an interesting guy, to be fair, Law is the only guy who is going to have him in his top 100, let alone top 50. I think we'd all like to have Tatis back, but I'm not ready to crown him a legit prospect yet.
