I still think Wellington Castillo is interesting.

    Catcher

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) IMO, they should be doing anything and everything they can to keep Collins at catcher as long as possible. They still need someone else there this year though. Absolutely they should.
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) Frazier for Tapia, McMahon, and Almonte? Would be beyond thrilled w just the first 2. Doubt we can get that.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:50 PM) That would have been a fair ask...if his 2016 had matched his 2015. Since you can say right now that he appears to be trending down, you have all sorts of other questions that knock that ask a bit down. 50-80 with someone 80-120 would make more sense to me. Depending on who they are I'd be fine with something like that.
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:45 PM) True, but the flip side is that if he performs, arb is going to be friendly to him. I don't think he's undervalued or over valued I think he's properly valued by most. He's a solid starter on a decent contract the return should probably be a B+ prospect and a lotto ticket. If you consider B+ a top 25 guy I agree. Otherwise I want a top 50, someone in back end or just outside top 100, and a lottery ticket Coop likes.
  6. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1 13m13 minutes ago Short chat with #Whitesox owner Jerry Reinsdorf: "Boston knows what it got (Sale). We hope we know what we got." #Redsox Kind of a cryptic message from the chairman. Clearly was talked into this. Hah
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:33 PM) Because he's turning 30 (at best) this winter, has declined two years in a row, and probably won't be a part of the next Sox playoff team. He doesn't have a lot of value but he likely has more now than next offseason or at the deadline after another slow 1st half. You need a good return for Abreu. He can be non tendered if he flops or gets hurt. His AAV is a steal. He is vastly undervalued around here.
  8. I've always preferred Moncada, I jsut didn't think there was any chance in hell they'd trade him.
  9. It is a sad day, but a necessary move; excited for Moncada and Kopech, and hope Chris gets to pitch in the playoffs next year.
  10. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) Pretty sure the bulk of that is sunk costs for Boston at this point, certainly the signing bonus and penalty. It's sort of funny, to date, Boston has probably paid more for Moncada than we have for Sale. Probably? It is not even close. Boston has paid Moncada nearly $65M. The Sox have paid Sale about $20M + original signing bonus. Boston will ahve paid Moncada probably double what he'll make with the Sox over 6-7 years.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) Like Basabe, don't know who V. Diaz is Hard thrower in A ball. #28 prospects in Red Sox system according to MLB.com. Don't love the back end of this trade. Really wanted Devers. But all in all, can't be too upset.
  12. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:31 PM) Not even their two best f***ing prospects, lol. what a failure Haha, what. Moncada is the consensus top prospect in the game!?
  13. Lets see how this ends before we judge, but Moncada and Kopech is a great foundation. Really need Devers in there to be perfectly pleased.
  14. Moncada, Kopech....and WHO ELSE!?!?! Please tell me Devers, please tell me Devers. Please tell me devers.
  15. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) HES DEALT SALE TO RED SOX FOR MONCADA KOPECH AND TWO PROSPECTS Huh?
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) Good god, I want to have access to Twitter right now. I'm relying on y'all to keep me informed. Please keep posting any relevant tweets. Thank you. Touche.
  17. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:09 PM) I'd hope so, but it kind of makes me think if Boston is only in the deal because we've lowered the demand. Any trade that you have to say, "well maybe they will flip player x to insert team" makes it a bad one. All trades should be judged on their own merit I mean JBJ is a great player, and an JBJ/Eaton anchored OF is tremendous defensively. I jsut don't like the 4 years of control if the Sox plan to trade more than just Sale.
  18. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) Going back to the Shelby Miller deal as a template (except for a real ace in Sale), JBJ could certainly fill Inciarte role, with Moncada filling the Swanson role. So it may not be crazy to get both. Maybe you net one more top 100 prospect (e.g., the Aaron Blair role), but probably not much more than that. To be fair, everyone has said Sox are looking at Shelby Miller trade ++ as template.
  19. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) So if you got JBJ, Moncada, and Swihart is that fair value for Sale? We also have the luxury of adding Abreu, or Jones, or Robertson to get some other pieces back (Devers, Kopech, Groome, Rodriquez). I'd be very, very, very lukewarm to that package. Moncada is exciting, but I almost like Giolito, Robles ++ more than that. Idunno... I think sox are smarter than getting JBJ unless they have something else up their sleeve (flipping him to Nats).
  20. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:01 PM) Hahn has said he knows we could be terrible for a few years if we rebuild and that's part of the price for a bright future. I'm not convinced they won't try to "win" next year until the team is torn down, however. Then JBJ makes no sense as the headliner.
  21. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) True. I hadn't thought of it this way. But if the Sox "love" JBJ why would they go and flip him? Because best case scenario Sox are good again in 2019 and JBJ has 2 years left at that point. To me, getting JBJ means the Sox will still try to patch together a decent team in 17/18, which I guess deep down I am OK with. I know most here arent, however.
  22. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 52s52 seconds ago Chisox asked for benintendi, as everyone has (bos wants to keep). Chisox likes Jackie bradley Jr. Very much, and others Ugh. Although I suppose Sox could turn around and trade JBJ and Q to Nats for an absolute haul.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Three way trade stolen from poster jonathanrod on SSS that I like a lot and is probably unrealistic from Rockies (but they are the PERFECT team to stretch out for a run) Rockies get: Abreu Giolito White sox get: Robles Rodgers Ramel Tapia Erik Feede Carter Kieboom Nick Banks Forrest Wall Kyle Freeland Nats get: Robertson Sale I don't like that for the Sox at all.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:37 AM) Let's say Washington hypothetically got Rutherford from the Yankees and included him in a Sale package. What would you guys say to this? Sale for Giolito, Robles, Rutherford, Stevenson, Severino, and Fedde. Probably, but keep Stevenson and Feede and give me Lopez and higher upside but further away bat. Someone like Soto.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) If that guy from the Red Sox forum is right about Moncada/Kopech/Basabe, I think I'd still do the Nats deal with Giolito/Robles + If Red Sox kick in Devers+ then I'd be all for it. Or do that for Q.
