  1. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:28 PM) Holy s***. A post-TJS pitcher who sucked out loud in his MLB debut, and a sub .800 OPS in A+ bat is the centerpiece of a supposed "franchise altering return?" After seeing what Shelby f***ing Miller cost, the domestic abuser Chapman cost, and what Andrew Miller cost, this proposed deal is a f***ing insult to SOX fans. You've got to be f***ing kidding me. Unless there are significant additions to this deal, we should be disgusted as fans. Dude, it is 2 of the top 10 prospects in the game. If it's just those two, I'd be very disappointed, but it's not going to be. Calm yourself.
  2. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:54 PM) A 16th pick from 2012 and a foreign amateur free agent for a 3 years of sale is a massive fail. Strange way to analyze the deal
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Bowden: The White Sox and Nationals are far down the road on a trade that will send Chris Sale to the Nationals in exchange for Lucas Giolito, Victor Robles and a low minor leaguer. Reynaldo Lopez and Koda Glover will not be in the proposed deal. The structure of the deal was first reported by Ken Rosenthal. Gross if that's the whole deal.
  4. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Were? So what happened, legit question I dont follow minor leagues that much. Bregman, Turner and Benintendi had great ML debuts. Giolito struggled in his, and Robles was in A ball.
  5. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) Kieboom and Dunning please. Honest question: what excites you about those 2?
  6. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) Let's be realistic, IF they move Q (we've heard they'll hold onto him) it's going to be after Sale gets traded when they pull Q out of their pocket and show teams "look what else we got". Yep, totally agree.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) No one is offering what you're looking for for Sale, we've heard absolutely nothing on our other pieces, who are we trading that is kick starting this rebuild? Have you heard anyone talk about Robertson? Frazier? Melky? Abreu? f***, I haven't even heard a peep on Q. That's cause Q is worth as much as Sale to the Sox. If they can't get fair value for Sale, they're not getting it for Q either.
  8. Agreed if the packages never materialize. Don't even need EE IMO. Gomez or Revere and Castillo should be enough to keep the team interesting and doesn't take the ability to sell off pieces in July like signing EE would. I do think someone will blink on Sale eventually tho.
  9. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 05:44 PM) I literally can't think of a worse scenario than not trading Sale and trying to plug holes with 1/2 assed free agents again. That's like signing up for a painful 77 win season while also devaluing Sale's contract. The longer he is under contract and healthy the higher his value is. Meh, not if you can't get full value. If teams are only willing to give up so much, you can probably get that same type package next winter. I'm not convinced we're ther yet and I do think someone will blink, but keeping Sale isn't a worst case scenario for me if none of the offers are to Hahns liking.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) True. But then again, if they can't trade Sale now, with the FA market so devoid of pitching, when are they going to be able to trade him? At some point, Hahn needs to do his job and actually produce. Trade him in a year or two when you can actually get somebody to handover fair value. I do not support a Sale trade just to move on.
  11. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 05:02 PM) Some good Hahn quotes on Twitter about the current approach. Would post them if I wasn't at work. Sure sounds like a rebuild. Who's tweeted it?
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 05:09 PM) We'll see about that. I'll buy the book IF he makes a deal. In the meantime, the Sox should be selling a bunch of other guys. Meh. If you can't get what you want for Sale, may as well try to win while you got him. I am not suggesting we go out and sign EE and Wieters, but Wellington Castillo and Carlos Gomez would work if we can't get a marquee return for Sale. That said, would be curious to hear Hahn's interview today. Will have to wait until I get home as I can't get on twitter at work.
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:30 PM) OMG dude I understand that. It doesnt stop him from having a plan and being transparent with some things in the media. Other executives handle it well and still lose no competitive advantage. Maybe Hahn's biggest problem is that he has no tact. If that is all it is than everything will be forgiven after his awesome moves pan out. Ha, yet he has no conviction or plan? Got it.
  14. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:16 PM) I am being hard on him and took that statement out of context because he literally never has a concrete direction with any answer he ever gives. Because it gives him literally zero competitive advantage to share his plans or the team direction. None.
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) Like usual, operating with no real conviction or methodically aligned plan. You think it makes sense for him to come out and say we plan on trading our most valuable assets for the best package we can get? That'd be dumb.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) He's talking about trading for them. Ahhh, ya, can't argue there.
  17. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) We keep hearing that about Benintendi, Turner, etc. If that's the case, they really should have made their moves for these guys sooner. Benintendi was gone when the Sox drafted in 15. Turner would have been a major reach for them in 14 - plus, Rodon looks just fine.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) The much more part of Rosenthal's tweet has my mind scrambling of who else would be in the deal. My guess is Ross, Severino, plus one of the position player prospects in the top 10. Not sure I love the deal, but I don't hate it.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) I keep seeing this. He was actually Rosenthal's understudy. He has many of the same sources. Just listen to the guy talk. He's a clown. He may have a few sources, but he knows shockingly little about the game for a guy many baseball fans look to as an insider. Its also obvious that the other insiders don't quite respect him as much as others. Its quite obvious during certain segments he is involved with on MLBN.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Supposedly the offers for Quintana aren't near the offers for Sale. The moron Morosi actually said if the Sox traded Q or Eaton they wouldn't be blockbuster trades. If that is true, there is no reason to trade them. Morosi knows nothing.
  21. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) Yeah if Turner isn't involved I don't like what they have to offer after Giolito and Robles. Their only interesting players are pitchers they are super weak on posiitional talent. I agree. But Robles, Giolito, Ross, Lopez and Severino is a pretty good return. I do think that move necessitates the Sox moving other peices for as much offense as they can get though.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) And by the time Carlos comes into his own he'll be due $200 million. The Sox have 5 more years of Rodon. Slow your roll.
  23. Listening to Rich Hill on MLBN now. What a great guy - happy for him. Didn't realize he lost an infant son a few years back.
