  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) His K and BB numbers were pretty good in Korea, although that league is much easier to hit in. I still wish the Sox would've taken a chance on him though. He's the exact type of player that would be great in a rebuild. Is it? I'd rather give Liriano, Avi or Coats those ABs if we're going full rebuild (doubt that'll happen).
  2. I'd like it more if he wasn't going to miss all of next season, but sure, why not?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) MLB Trade Rumors ‏@mlbtraderumors 2h2 hours ago Twins Hire Torii Hunter, Michael Cuddyer, LaTroy Hawkins As Special Assistants http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/11/twins-hire-torii-hunter-michael-cuddyer-latroy-hawkins-as-special-assistants.html …://http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/...sistants.html …://http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/...sistants.html … Good. I've said it before and I will say it again, Sox hold the chips here. Get what you want or don't trade him. I don't want some garbage deal that doesn't include multiple headliners. The Sox need to win this trade massively - the future of the franchise relies on it.
  4. QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 06:18 PM) Screw it, if they want to rebuild on the fly and not do a total overhaul, why not try for Bregman AND Springer, maybe someone like Daz Cameron as a third piece.... I'd be perfectly ok with that deal. May not live up to people's standards or expectations, but I'd be very excited to watch the Sox next year. I have a feeling if we deal with HOU, we end up with Springer. Been saying it all along and just have a gut feeling. There were rumors from connected insiders that the Astros offered a Springer based package for Same in July, which the Sox obviously passed on. Doubt a few months will change their mind. Bregman is the guy, though I am intrigued by your idea of both.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 11:16 PM) When your depth doesn't get picked up by anyone in the big leagues and winds up in korea, you don't actually have depth. Again, I said not really a loss. The dudes close to doubling his salary, can you really blame him? And every other team didn't have the chance to get him, Sox released him so he could pursue this opportunity. It's not like he cleared waivers beforehand.
  6. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 09:43 PM) Good. Don't want him anywhere near the organization. Mark Lol, such a typical comment from you. Ranaudo is nothing special, this isn't really a loss, but you continue to fail to recognize that depth is your friend.
  7. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) Twins to sign Jason Castro per Rosenthal Clearly wasn't worried about winning. Seeing 3/$24M. If so, not a bad deal at all for the Twinkies.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) You think Sale's value can get higher? Probably not, but maybe. I just think Q has a higher probability of falling off a cliff and becoming a mediocre pitcher. There is no way Sale does that without significant injury. If Sale goes out and wins the CY young next year (definite possibility), I don't think his value takes much hit this year to next, and maybe even improves a bit. But its definitely not going to improve much. The comment wasn't really meant as a comparison between the two, but rather that I think there is a possibility we'd be selling high on Q.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) I have to say, I've been surprised at how little Sale's contract has mattered. It gets mentioned, but I think part of it is we are dealing with Yankees/Red Sox/Dodgers/etc. That's nice, but the 10 million in savings per year isn't really doing anything for them. PIttsburgh/STL would be the helpful teams there, but they don't seem to have the weapons. I'm pretty sure if Boston feels Sale is too expensive they'll just get Verlander and not really care too much about it. Thing is, its more like $20M+ in savings. Sale would make $30M+ per year easy in FA.
  10. Definitely bittersweet. I love watching Sale pitch. Easily my favorite, along with vintage Buehrle. It will be a sad day, but hopefully when it happens, we know right away it was a great deal for the Sox. With Q, I'd be less sad. Love the guy, but I think its a legitimate possibility his value will never be higher.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) Can you guys imagine the meltdown that will happen here if Sale isn't traded this offseason or if someone like Gray or Archer are dealt for a haul? There is going to be a melt down no matter what happens. Let's be real.
  12. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Would still need Swihart & either Sam Travis or Luis Alexander Basabe, plus some lower level throw ins. Give me those three (Benintendi, Devers, Kopech) plus Rodriguez and either Vazquez/Swihart and I will like it.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) Just not sure you also get Groome included there as well. What are there now, ten teams? Boston NYY LAD Texas Houston Atlanta Pittsburgh St. Louis Washington Cubs (nah) I haven't seen Pittsburgh mentioned but as pure speculation on here.
  14. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 06:40 PM) Benintendi Devers Kopesch Eduardo Rodriguez Blake Swihart 1 of Jake Cosart, Deven Marrero, Trey Ball, Christian Vasquez, or Brian Johnson To me this still seems like the most likely outcome if a Boston deal were to happen. I know some here might think it's a little light, but I'd be happy with this haul. This + smart moves with Melky, Frazier, and Robertson and we could be setup nicely for a quick turn around in my opinion. No need to move Q, Eaton, and Abreu just yet I think that's a great deal for the Sox. Don't need the last guy either, but would certainly take him.
  15. QUOTE (bruni @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) Why do posters keep talking about the Dodgers reluctance to include Urias in a package for Sale when even since July it was reported that Urias was dangled as part of a return for Sale? For Sale alone the deal must include Urias plus 2 top 50 prospects and at least one more top 100 guy. Throw Frazier into the mix would likely require another top 100 guy and 2 lottery picks. This is why - to me anyway - the Dodgers should have the ammo to pull off the deal. My guess is because he was pretty good in the bigs after July. That said, I think they'd include Urias, but it may mean not getting De Leon, or getting one of Verdugo / Bellinger. Personally, I want all four.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 07:15 AM) Don't think he gets dealt. We'd have to be blown away and not many teams have the bullets to get it done. This. I don't think there's any realistic chance Adam isn't on the Sox on Opening Day. No one is going to meet their price, and if the Sox REALLY don't HAVE to trade Eaton. Dude is dirt cheap for 5 more years. However, his value may never be higher.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:37 AM) I have zero issues with the White Sox bringing back pitching in a Sale deal. A rotation of Quintana, Rodon, Fulmer still has several spots to fill with things that are better than James Shields, you always assume some guys will bust out of any group you bring back/draft, and bringing back additional pitching could make moving Quintana more palatable as well. I'd probably have issue with the White Sox bringing back ONLY pitching, but I could deal with a pitching-headlined deal. I mean, I definitely want a pitcher or two back with top of the rotation potential, but I just have far more faith in the Sox developing pitching than I do of them developing their own hitters. Hence why I'd like to see a trade that is more centered around bats that are close to ML ready.
  18. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) Top 100 Prospects from BA's midseason list (excluding Swanson): 17. Ozzie Albies ss Braves Has made it to Triple-A just a year after being named a South Atlantic League all-star 33. Sean Newcomb lhp Braves Walk rate still high, but premium swing-and-miss stuff remains with 80 strikeouts in first 78 2/3 innings. 77. Kolby Allard lhp Braves Like Brady Aiken, Allard is shaking off a lot of injury-induced rust; the stuff has bounced back quickly. 78. Mike Soroka rhp Braves Soroka moved on the rubber, and the 18-year-old Canadian has thrown lots of quality strikes in his first full season in the Sally League. 95. Touki Toussaint rhp Braves A significant tweak to his arm slot and arm action has Touissant throwing more strikes and missing more bats. Sox need offense pieces. I don't think the Braves fit. Trade would have to be Swanson, Inciarte, Albies, and two of the pitchers and I still wouldn't love it.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) If we're trading Sale and Frazier to LAD, why not package Quintana and Abreu to Boston? I think Jones to BOS is a damn near certainty if the Sox end up moving guys.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) I'll take less in quantity if it means we get Urias in the deal. Urias, De Leon, Bellinger, Verdugo, Lux, and Puig. I honestly don't know how Urias wouldn't be involved. Sure, De Leon is solid, but he is already 24 turning 25 in the season without MLB experience. Same. I'd do this deal and I don't particularly like Dodgers as a trade partner for Sale, but if they offer the top 4, not sure you can say no. I would like to see Barnes a part of the deal though. That said, I don't think this will happen because it would go against what the Dodgers front office has done since taking over.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) Well that s***s on his trade value for sure. Meh. He is only going to get about $500k to $1m raise this year versus what he would have gotten. If he rakes like he did the past 2 months of the season, he'll be getting raises in the next two years, but its not like his salary is going to skyrocket. On the plus side, it gives the Sox (or the acquiring team) a little more flexibility in that if he falls of a cliff or gets hurt, they can non-tender him and aren't stuck paying $12M per.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) The trade can be a blockbuster and good for sox and not just be a list of all of the top players under 24 in an organization. NEVER!
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) Urias, Verdugo, Bellinger, De Leon, Puig for Sale, Frazier or no deal. If they don't want to give Puig then that's fine, he's really a throw-in. Keep Puig. Give me Lux and Barnes.
  24. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) Per Dan Hayes Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 7m7 minutes ago Jose Abreu opted out of his guaranteed 3/$34 million deal w/ #WhiteSox and instead will go year by year in arb w/ them. Still Sox property. Positive to this is it may reinvigorate Jose. He's got something to play for again outside of his next contract. I've never really found that to be an issue with Jose, just worth mentioning.
