I would be pretty disappointed if it is Rick Renteria or some other old retread (Gardenhire, Washington, etc.). I am not against the Sox going away from hiring old players with no management experience, but its hard not to like the idea of AJ. I think he will be a great manager some day. He'd certainly spice things up.

Adam is great. However, if they do trade Sale and/or Q this winter, I'd be in support of moving Adam. The dude's value shouldn't be much lower than those two, in all honesty. He's really f'in good. That said, I hope they don't trade him - he's by far my favorite player.

Jared Eickhoff is already a mid-rotation arm. Jake Thompson, while he struggled this year in majors, has the chance to be a top of the rotiation arm. Two top 100 prospects, one of which is catcher, plus another arm. Not a bad deal for the Phillies.

Couple comments/questions: -While the Sale package is alright, I'd definitely like to see Kopech added to it. I don't know how excited I'd be if thats what they got for Sale, I don't necessarily see that as a franchise altering return, which I think is what you need. But ultimately, who knows if anyone will pay that price. Don't see why Melky would need to be included in that trade. While he gets paid about what he's worth, I have to imagine he has some value. I wouldn't mind keeping him around for next year - if he has another year like this year, you'd probably be able to get something decent for him at the deadline. -Valencia is going to non-tendered. There is even some talk of him being released this month. No point is giving up assets for him, especially Dan Jennings who has been a very nice piece out of the bullpen this year. -You really think Reddick is only going to get 3 years and $42M? I'd be all aboard that train if that's all he's getting, but I find that very hard to believe. -I have reservations about a C that has been moved away from the position anchoring that position for the next decade (assuming Collins ends up at 1B/DH). I'd take Swihart in a deal, but not as one of the main pieces. All in all, this would make for an interesting off season. The Sox would still obviously be straddling rebuilding and retooling. While that team probably doesn't sniff the playoffs, its not a complete pipe dream that it'd be around .500 come July. At that point, you never know. I'd just like to see the Sox take a more definitive direction; keep Sale and add some meaningful players, or just tear it down and don't waste money on Reddick/mediocre relievers/Kelly Johnson.

Strangely, we actually ran into him again as we were exiting the park after the game. He was standing by the exit texting on his phone, blending right in with the crowd. I patted him on the shoulder and said can't wait till next year - and he nodded and said stick with us boys. It was a really cool experience for a guy like me that's grown up a die hard due to my dad but never lived in Chicago or had the opportunity to be up close with Sox management. Funny enough, I actually shook Robin Venturas hand earlier this year in Macy's in a downtown MPLS skyway. Right place at the right time a couple times this year - pretty cool experience. Robin was nice too, but far less willing to engage in conversation; that said, I was more excited to meet RH - the mans got my dream job!

I really hope Robin isn't the manager next year. Anyone else, please.
