  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:17 PM) We've been repeating the word patience for nearly a decade. Clock is ticking. Pirates, Yanks and Padres are running circles around us. Pirates Yanks and Padres? Lol
  2. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) I don't know if you'll ever get the right return for Sale that's fair to the Sox. But is Moncada, Benintendi, Devers and Kopech and Vasquez taking less in your opinion? Pretty sure Hahn would take that deal. But I highly doubt anything remotely close to that has been offered.
  3. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) IF Sale and Quintana really are on the market, then waiting isn't smart. As others have mentioned, the true value of Sale and Q is cost control and age. Every start they make for the White Sox diminishes that value. Waiting a "year or two from now" will substantially lessen their value. Additionally, I'm incredibly uncomfortable with the thought that Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams STILL don't know what lane to pick, and if they believe they can't get proper value for these pitchers, they'll just hold on to them and once again try and make 2017 and 2018 work by piecing together another 78 win team. No one is willing to pay for their current value, otherwise they'd have been moved! Patience.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) Therein lies the problem, however. Their trade value decreases as you wait longer...because those years of control are lessening. It's obvious that no one is willing to pay the requisite price at the moment. Hahn hasn't and shouldn't blink. We'll see if someone else does. No reason to comprise and get what you can get in a year or two from now just to make a trade. That's my point.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:05 PM) Duke is just another body. He's nothing special. The outfielder we got obviously is a bust to this date or St. Louis wouldn't have traded him. This will probably be his final chance to be a starter in the bigs. Lol, at least try to understand the game.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) Well it goes back to Dick's real estate analogy again...if you have a $10 million house, it may take you a LONG time to get fair value, or else you may need to sell it for less than market value, due to a lack of buyers. I think Baron's point is that Sale and Q aren't doing anything for us on our roster...so maybe the only alternative is to take a little less than market value. I would suggest you wait until the offseason if that is the case, but you can't really just keep holding them and saying "I'm not getting the 5 prospects I desire." Sure you can. You can just wait a couple years until their price gets to a point in which a team is actually willing to pay. You don't just give up years of control of underpaid aces just to move on. You get full value, or you wait.
  7. A little off the wall idea, but I wonder if the Sox would have any interest in taking Puig back in a lesser deal. I don't think his value has fallen enough for the Dodgers to do a Shields - Puig swap, or even a Robertson - Puig swap, but it would be a way to get a higher ceiling bat for the next couple years and an affordable price. Admittedly I am just spit balling, but it'd be a White Soxy move and we know this FO has has interest in Puig before.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 06:23 PM) heyman reporting Sale to dodgers done No he is not.
  9. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) Frazier, Sanchez, Torres, Andujar, Severino, and Acevedo, would be ideal to me from the Yankees. Judge holds very little appeal to me. Gross.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) Frazier, Torres or Mateo, Sanchez, Judge, Sheffield, plus another projectable arm or two. That's the deal I'm demanding from the Yankees. Would not accept anything less for Sale. I like this w Severino.
  11. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:31 AM) Boston has more star level prospects so Yankees would have to go quantity. Frazier,Torres, Sanchez,Severino couple fliers….Chance Adams, Jordan Montgomery, Dietrich Enns Judge needs to be in any deal w the yanks. Mateo too.
  12. Not super exciting, but Tilson seems interesting. Id probably rather watch him play CF than Shuck. Wonder how long he'll be in AAA.
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) I'm not sure but they're stacked for a Sale trade but it also would force a bidding war between them IMO Judge, Frazier, Severino, Sanchez, Mateo and Bird is a pretty strong package IMO.
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:18 AM) From the Yankees, I think Frazier, Severino, and Bird are must gets in any Chris Sale deal. Judge and Sanchez too. Rake em over the coals.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 7s7 seconds ago Sources: #Rangers have talked to #WhiteSox about Quintana as well as Sale. Same story: No traction due to differences in perceived value. Hahn asking for the moon, as he should be. But I'm sure a bunch of you will find a way to fault him anyway.
  16. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 06:40 PM) I replied to his tweet with an offer of Moncada, Devers, and Kopech for Q. That's a concession IMO.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) Got the Jons mixed up. But, Heyman did say that NYY would decline Giolito for Miller... Seems like a no brainer to me. Why would the yanks reject that!?
  18. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) So Cameron says a Benintendi/Devers/1 lower level guy (or Moncada/Kopech instead for the first two), Urias/Verdugo (or Bellinger instead of Verdugo)/2 lower level guys or Gallo/Brinson/Ortiz/1 lower level guy should be enough for the Sox to want to move Sale. If Sale was traded for any of those packages, would anyone here be happy with those trades? No. Those are the types of trades you can get when Sale has 1.5 years of control, not 3.5 years.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) If Cashner was worth what he got... He's also a better pitcher than Gonzalez, but paid more, and a FA after this year. But there was more moving parts than just Cashner which makes it a little hard to make that blanket assessment.
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Has to include Mazara. Drop Profar. I'll take Profar as the 3rd or 4th piece. Mazara/Gallo/Brinson/Ortiz/Tate would do it without Profar. Problem remains that it just decimates their lineup.
  21. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) It's wrong to think they will be as valuable next July because of three things: 1. They could get hurt (knock on wood, but it happens). 2. The trade market will be richer with expiring contracts, so there will be more supply. 3. They will have less team control left. The time to strike is absolutely now. I understand that the FO is deluded about the chance of competing next year, but that doesn't excuse doing nothing. Winners strike while the iron is hot. No one is going to pay the additional cost associated with the extra year of control right now. You'll get the same for these guys next year as you will right now, because no one is going to pay the exorbitant cost that Hahn is asking for, as he should be. May as well give contention one more shot in 2017 before half our offensive producers leave (and not punt the rest of this season too). Trading for the sake of trading is what gets GMs fired. Plus - if this board was in charge, about 75% of people wanted to trade Q for Puig at this time last year. How would that have worked out? Patience, lads. And the Sox have never said they want to do a full-rebuild. They said there clearly needs to be changes. Those are two different things.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) Honestly if they don't, rebuild and trade everyone. They'll seriously try to tell us they're contending by signing Jason Castro and Carlos Gomez. IMO - that actually makes a ton of sense (I have actually suggested that very thing). Blow it up next July if it doesn't work. Sale and Q will still be worth the same amount then.
  23. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) I think his take is a lot more realistic than what has been proposed here. You are going to have to get at least one pitcher back in a deal, Rodriguez and Owens are the most likely given their talent level and proximity to the majors. Kopech is a big risk given his meth use and off the field antics. Lol, meth? Dude wasn't using meth in the traditional sense. Realistic to what teams are currently willing to offer? Sure. The Sox are not trading Sale for a package centered around Eduardo friggin' Rodriguez and Henry flippin' Owens. That would be a joke, Hahn should be fired on the spot, and the Sox would literally be f***ed for the next half decade. If you don't get what you want, you don't trade him. Thats likely where we are right now.
  24. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Greenie and I and the other malcontents are not quibbling over Tatis, per se. we are complaining about constantly trading young guys for over-the-hill bums. Which has burned the Sox how many times? Basically never. The only dude who legitimately has been good is Semien, and while Shark was a bum for the Sox, he was hardly over the hill. Generally the Sox have traded away guys that never amounted to much of anything at the big league level.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) I couldn't believe that was the Globe. And Nick Carfardo is actually a respected writer. Smh. How some of these dudes get these jobs is beyond me.
