  1. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) I am trying to think of a good player comp for what Timmy brings to the table. Is he comparative to maybe a guy like Altuve? Dee Gordon maybe?
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) WHy is Morneau on the DL? ACL? I'm suspecting he'll be slower than Paulie. Dude, do you even follow the sox or just spend half your day posting about how s***ty they are here?
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) Carroll is fine if he isn't overexposed. As a long reliever and a mop up guy, he will give you OK numbers, and cover some innings. Really where our starters have been lately, that would have some real value. The man has a 5.00 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in Charlotte. He's terrible. I like the story and all, and he's given the Sox some decent innings in the past, but they can and should do better.
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Hey this may be Robin's last game. So there's some good news. Doubt that.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) I really like when we have Carroll up as mop up. But we do have jennings and albers who can both go 2 innings or more. Carroll has turned into a legitimate pumpkin. No reason he should ever see Chicago ever again.
  6. I'd take him at the league minimum.
  7. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) And people like you are why JR can run an organization into the ground for 35 years without consequence. People like me? You know nothing about me. Don't get pissed at fans for not being fair weather fans. Trust me, I want the Sox to do well as much as you do - but I don't think boycotting them is going to make any difference, and I assure you that JR wants to win as much as anyone does (as he shows over and over and over again). Is this organization run perfectly? Absolutely not, but one of the reasons I love them so much is they always try, and frankly, while maybe it should have bit them in the ass pretty bad now, it really hasn't at all (speaking last 15-20 years).
  8. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) I don't watch games, I don't click on articles, and I don't spend one penny on them in any shape or form. That will have to be good enough. That'll show em'!
  9. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) This is perfectly stated, and I agree !00%. Kudos to you for refusing to support this sham of an organization. Do you all want change? Quit spending money on the White Sox. If everyone on this board decided to boycott the organization for the foreseeable future, you would be shocked at how swiftly Reinsdorf would respond. But as long as he is making money, the s*** show will continue. Sounds like a good way to get your team relocated.
  10. I really can't see the Sox firing Robin, but I hope that they do. I don't think managers make much of a difference, but it is obvious this team needs a jolt.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 12:17 AM) I bet deep down Rollins was glad to get released. Had to be the worst experience of his baseball career I'd think playing with this woe-begone team. This has to be one of the worst hitting team in Sox history. It's like the 60s when the mound was lower. Do you actually believe the s*** you spew out on a daily basis?
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 11:31 AM) How about playing Saladino 2B and Anderson SS with Lawrie DHing? Lawrie has a pretty good glove...
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:46 PM) I don't see why he wouldn't be, just a weird setup. Was someone else going to jump all over Justin Morneau and sign him totally right now where we had to get him signed to this $650k immediately? I guess it gives him a chance to work in the minor leagues, maybe that's something he can't do on his own, actual game action. Maybe that's it, just so he can try to re-gather his skills in live action. But if Morneau knew the Sox would still try to sign another LH bat, why would he sign this contract so early and be stuck with a team that could leave him in the minors? My guess is that his risk of that was about the same for any team he'd potentially sign with, and the Sox are about as weak as it gets from the left side. Every team could trade for a guy that blocks him between now and mid-July. My guess is Morneau is an insurance policy for the Sox. If it doesn't work out, $650k is nothing for an MLB team. If the Sox don't get the LH bat they want or get some key injuries, they have a guy that can be productive ready to come up. I like the move.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Probably for today. Speaking of which, what is Petricka's status?
  15. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) So is Danish a long-reliever for this team or...? Probably for today.
  16. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) Mauer I think I'd definitely take as his deal is over after 2018 and as a lefty who still puts up a strong OBP he'd almost fit ideally into the 2 spot in our lineup. Verlander I struggled with, that contract is rough but he's also having a nice year. Yah, I acutally think Mauer would fit great on the Sox, but not at $24M per. Twins eat half that....maybe. But they're not going to eat any of Mauer's contract, he's worth more to them than anyother team, which is why he will play out his contract there.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) It really is a little bit bizarre to race out and grab a guy 6 weeks before he'll be ready to play if your team is in trouble right now, gotta admit that. Doesn't mean it's the wrong move, just odd. We can't solve this problem right now so we'll just hope it solves itself and then we'll solve it in 6 weeks? My guess is Rick is still trying to find a LH bat.
  18. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) If I could pick any two MVP's I think I would take Mike Trout and Bryce Harper instead of Jimmy Rollins and Justin Morneau. You're quite the talent evaluation expert! Impressive stuff.
  19. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) Certainly didn't expect this. But wasn't it just a few days ago where Robin specifically said he wanted to keep Latos in the rotation and move Gonzalas to the pen? Now all of a sudden he's released. Sounds like somebody above Robin pulled the trigger (obviously) but I wonder if he was consulted or asked to give his opinion on this before it was done. Again you give them points for trying but as to whether or not it actually does any good, we'll have to see. Mark Managers generally don't make roster move decisions.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) This isn't trying to win. Find me all of these contenders with their middle of the order threat being a mid season free agent signing of a 35 year old injured 1st baseman. He's a far superior option to DH against RHP that Avi Garcia or anyone else on the Sox 40 man roster.
  21. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Its just sad. The Sox have nobody in the minors they trust to bring up, nobody on the big league squad who can do anything...only place they have to go is the dumpster. I don't find it sad at all. I like it when my team tries to win. No one in the minor leagues would come up and be an effective LH bat to DH. If he doesn't work out, you cut him and you can still go and try Danny Hayes or whoever you want. I'll say it again - its f***ing chump change.
  22. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) laughing out loud For $1M? Its f***ing chump change.
  23. Chicago White SoxVerified account ‏@whitesox The #WhiteSox have agreed to terms with first baseman Justin Morneau on a one-year, $1-million contract.
  24. QUOTE (Special K @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) That positional player comment is not entirely true. Semien is fine, Trayce seems solid. Also De Aza. But I get the point. They didn't develop De Aza. He was a waiver claim from the Marlins.
