Twins don't really have many lefties with Kepler and Kiriloff on IL and Gallo also dinged up and not playing lately. Not that those are big names to begin with. Its basically Larnach and Nick Gordon and bunch of righties.
Anderson SS, Robert CF, Benintendi LF, Vaughn DH, Sheets 1B, Grandal C, Alberto 3B, Colas RF, Andrus 2B
Moncada on the bench after a rough weekend in favor of Alberto, and Sheets at 1B while AV DHs.
Yeah, I think this is what happened. His natural instinct was go for for the catcher plow, once Seby came down with the ball and he was dead to rights, he had a last second change of heart.
The injury could have been avoided with several different slide styles to the right of the baseline. While Cruz was probably out regardless, a really good headfirst swipe slide would have made it a tough play on Seby.
Its unfortunate, but I can also understand why Pirates fans are sad/mad to lose Cruz. Would be a similar feeling to Robert going down on a play at the plate - we'd all be frustrated. I think 90% of them deep down realize it was on Cruz, even if they don't want to admit in while its still fresh.
Sox should probably try to win this series. Getting this one today is imperative as the pitching matchup is the only one clearly in our favor with Lynn and Gio coming off stinkers.
If sitting Robert once every 10 games keeps him off the IL, I’ll happily take 145 games played. Would I have had him in there? Absolutely. But I get the logic.
Yaz sat because day game after night with day game tomorrow. Pretty simple on that one.
Guys get DFA all the time. What are even talking about. You’re acting like DFAing a low leverage reliever isn’t something that happens like 5-10x a week across the league.
I’d be more concerned if those guys looked like s%*#, tbh. Our offense actually is looking pretty good. If Robert and TA and Yoan have good seasons and stay healthy, Sox will be fine.
