Rodon gets the start on Friday

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 14, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) Well the Brewers suck. As a team they have the 2nd highest K% and 5th lowest BB% in baseball this year, so were an ideal match-up for Rodon's first start. Oakland should be much tougher. They're one of the better teams at putting the ball in play, and rarely swing at pitches out of the zone, so not a good match-up for a rookie with control/command issues. 10K in 7IP is probably a little optimistic. Maybe 6 IP, 4 BB, 5 SO. No idea for hits/runs. Rodon faced the Reds. -
QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 14, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) Regardless of who made the decision ( I believe it was KW) this move is about as two faced as it comes. To basically say they are gonna be patient with Micah bc he has been performing very well offensively and struggling a bit defensively but is the future of the team and then to turn around the next day and demote him is just wrong. I lost all respect for the front office with this move. Not the move itself but how they went about doing it. This post makes me laugh.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 14, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) he has 2 errors. I'd say he is one of our best defensive playears and did far less to hurt the team then conor, eaton, abreu, or even Alexei has. He also has been a better hitter then, conor, alexei, and Eaton You've said that before to me, and you're wrong. Errors are a terrible metric for grading ones D. He missed several plays that weren't ruled errors that should have been made. He didn't turn double plays that should have been turned. There is a lot more to defense than errors. Sure, Alexei has made some bonehead plays that have hurt the SOX, but you can live with that from a guy that makes plays no one else in baseball except maybe Simmons or Gregorious would make. I will agree that Eaton has been disapointing in the field, but I am far from worried about him. Gillaspie...ugh..he's been brutal, and that's why Beckham is stealing his ABs, because he's been unf'in real at 3B this year.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2015 -> 02:18 PM) I hope they can find a 4th outfielder that can hit against LHP, especially if Melky's struggles continue. If you watch the games, I don't think you'd think Melky is struggling. Hitting into some real bad luck. He's been stinging the ball for a few weeks without much to show for it.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 14, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) I can see this move for defensive purposes but unless Sanchez has made huge strides since last year it will be a drop in batting average, OBP, baserunning, etc. This move to me makes absolutely no sense especially since this morning the Sox said they were gonna remain patient with Micah since he is the future for the sox Micah's D was piss poor. He single handedly lost or made a play that drastically changed the SOX chance to win a game several times to his poor D. He'll be a good player in time, but AAA is where he belongs for now.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 13, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) Anyone else think that on days Beckham and Bonifacio are both in the infield, they should be playing Beckham at second and Bonifacio at third? Just my opinion as it seems Beckham is better and the combo of Alexei and Beckham was always great on double plays up the middle. Meh. Gordon has played gold glove worthy defense when he's played at 3B.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 10, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) Micah has had a far less impact negatively on defense then Ramirez or Connor or even Eaton Connor and Eaton sure. Don't agree at all on Alexei. Why is Danks pitching out of the stretch?
-
QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 10, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) He is way better then Emilio at 2B I haven't seen enough of Emilio to make that determination, but I know his scouting repot at 2B isn't great. I have a hard time believing he is any worse than Micah though. Like I said, I like Micah, and I think he should be out there most days, but his negative impact to date on D cannot be understated.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 10, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) Yeah, why isn't Micah playing today? Does he really need two games off in a row? I like Micah, but his D blows.

5/9 Reds @ White Sox Doubleheader

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 9, 2015 -> 09:22 AM) Game One. Noesi (0-3 6.75) vs Cueto (2-3 2.72). First pitch at 3:10. Broadcast on CSN until 6PM, if game goes longer in moves to CSN+. Tickets from yesterday's game and the nightcap will get you in the building for both games today. Game Two. Rodon (0-0 2.84) vs Marquis (3-1 5.22) First pitch 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game One. Broadcast on WGN. Tickets from yesterday or today will get you in for the nightcap, plus already being in the park. I believe that in order for your tickets from last night to get you in today, you'd have to exchange your tickets from last night at the box office for a ticket of equal or lesser value for today's scheduled game. That's my understanding anyway. -
QUOTE (flavum @ May 7, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) I'm usually not a fan of the "winning series" thing in the regular season. Each day is an opportunity to win one game. But it's good they got a couple when they did. And now...the weekend of a thousand rain delays. Aaaaand the weekend I planned a trip to Chicago for over 5 months ago...of course the weather looks like s***! But they'll do their darndest to get the games in since the Reds obviously will not be returning to the Cell. Hopefully if there is a cancellation, it is Friday night and they play two on Saturday.

Don't want to start a new thread to ask this, so I am going to ask it here.. How do you block a poster?

QUOTE (Mike F. @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:40 AM) Are they wearing the '83 unis again? They should. I bet they'll wear them until they lose.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 5, 2015 -> 01:00 PM) HR open for tonight's games. If we are gonna get our offense going it should be tonight. Go Sox!!! I think you may have jinxed the Sox w/ this HR contest!!

There is a whole lot of baseball left. The Sox go 8-2 in their next 10 and its back to .500 with 130 to go. But they do need to dig themselves out this hole quickly. Well under .500 a month from now will be troubling. And with the way this team has looked the past week, 8-2 seems like a pipe dream. But I'll keep watching, cuz that's what fans do.

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
ChiSox59 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Never really been in in the fire robin crowd, but after witnessing the last four games - my gawd why not? Beyond pathetic baseball. Something has to be done before this gets worse. -
I like Shucks game..don't mind him getting some ABs.

QUOTE (LDF @ May 3, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) this has been bugging me since i read it..... who is Mr Harvey? Matt Harvey. NY Mets pitcher.
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ May 2, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) Yawn. Yawn me all day. Yah, this team has been s***. It sucks. But why come to a message board and brag about not watching games? It's stupid. No one cares. You're certainly entitled to do whatever you want, but there's is name for that, and you probably don't like it!

I have always liked what Gillaspie brigs to the table against RH pitching, but he has been putrid. Hoping to see Gordon out there today. Eaton and LaRoche need to step it up big time. I feel like alexei has been squaring the ball up for a good chuck of his ABs, w not much to show for it. I don't worry as much about him.

I'll be there. Been to the first two, and I'll be at the next two. And it hasn't been pretty.
