3/5 ST: White Sox vs Dodgers 2pm MLB Network
ChiSox59 replied to GGajewski18's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 06:02 PM) How did Ynoa's stuff look? Has Hawkins always had that slight bat wiggle/waggle timing mechanism in his swing? Ynoas stuff looked pretty electric. He got hit fairly hard, but reminded me a bit of a healthy looking Alexei Ogando. -
Where is the discussion on yesterdays game with the Dodgers????

QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 4, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) I want to represent all DVR users and propose that talking about lives games outside of the game thread is frowned upon. +1!! Won't be watching until tonight on MLBN.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 4, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) Random question, but are there any Chromecast users that use the MLB.TV app? Am I going to be able to get every Sox game with that and an antenna? Or will I get blacked out of a few? I don't use Chromecast, but I do use Apple TV and MLB.TV, and it works great. My guess is it would be the same with Chromecast. In the past, the only games that have been blacked out are nationally televised games on FOX or ESPN. A couple years ago all Saturday afternoon games were blacked out on MLB.TV, but honestly I don't recall that happening much if at all last year, so they may have fixed it. EDIT: Also what Lasttriptotulsa said..I live in MN, so no problem for me there.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Mar 3, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) No way do they start Sale on the home opener as they will sell that out anyways. I am sure they would like to start him that weekend though so they can get more fans to the second or third games. Doubt this has any bearing on the decision.

Impressive for Conor to quit dipping. The dude CONSTANTLY had a monster dip in, can't imagine how hard that would be to quit when you're that hooked. The weight gain makes sense. Chewing and eating are both oral fixations, and well when you quit chewing...

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) The Super Two deadline is a moving target -- you have to be among the top x% of rookies in service to reach it. Usually if you wait until mid-June, you're safe. But this is something different, it's just avoiding free agency. To become a free agent, a player has to end the season with six year of service time and not to have agreed to additional contract terms for the future. Here's an article that explains in detail: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-myth-of...f-team-control/ Gotcha, thanks for the explanation. In that case, I fully expect Rodon to be up in the rotation by June, unless Danks and Noesi are pitching very well.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) Are we sure that it is just a couple weeks for the extra year though? If so I agree, complete no-brainer for him to be in Charlotte (barring injuries that force the Sox' hand). Ok, well the dates seem to be all over the place. This is the first time I have heard only two weeks. Much like NSS, if it is only a few weeks, yeah run whoever out there a few times to get the extra year of control. But if there is a need for Rodon, I don't think the SOX will virtually punt 5-8 starts by starting say a still-damaged Johnson, Carroll or Beck if Rodon is healthy and needed. Does anyone know for sure when the cut-off is?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 2h2 hours ago Jesse Crain feeling much better than last year at this time. Has thrown off the mound but won't rush things Did Crain re-injure himself last year? My recollection was that he just never progressed to a point that he could play competitively, but that comment sort of makes it seem like he re-injured his shoulder while rehabbing with the Astros last year.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) I just don't think this is true or smart. I don't want to sacrifice 1 entire year of control of a stud Boras client that will be in his prime for an extra month and a half in the big leagues. Rodon is ticketed for Charlotte and it's the right call regardless of what the White Sox say. I think this line of thinking is somewhat backwards. Sure, if Rodon doesn't pitch for the Sox until June, they'll get an extra year of control - which is great, and should try to achieve that, IMO. However, they're also giving up 40% of a season of Rodon on the front end. It is a good trade off, in theory, but if the SOX need him before June, and he is healthy and the best option, they won't hesitate to call him up. I just hope it isn't in the bullpen.

Spring Training TV broadcast and Internet streaming schedule up
ChiSox59 replied to thegringokid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) Yes, this is the way it will be from now on. Hey at least you can still watch them on MLB.tv. I'm in the Sox market so they are blacked out for me on there, but I am not close enough to Chicago to get the local WGN so I have no way legal way to watch any WCIU/WGN games. That's just brutal. Hopefully the SOX fix this. -
Spring Training TV broadcast and Internet streaming schedule up

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Just a little reminder that WGN games will not air outside the Chicago market anymore. Although I'd rather watch BTVS than the Cubs....it really sucks we get screwed out of White Sox broadcasts Regular season too I take it? So if the SOX are on WGN and you don't live in Chicago market, you won't be able to get the game? If so, that blows. I always buy MLB.TV, but obviously like actually watching the games on a TV when I can. I generally steam the games on MLB.TV through my AppleTV so I can at least watch on the big screen but the video quality is only mediocre. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) I'll have my annual 4-seat section of season tickets this year again. But I won't know for sure about those specific dates until March. Feel free to send me a direct message on here if you want more details. Thanks. I will reach out to you in early March if I am still hunting!

Where does Adam Eaton rank among MLB lead off hitters?
ChiSox59 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
When healthy, he is about as ideal of a lead-off hitter as they come. I'd love to see him flirt with a .400 OBP this year, and I don't think that is totally out of realm of possibility. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) Can't help you, but it's probably going to be hard to find three tickets at least on SoxTalk. You could probably find them on StubHub when the season starts but I'm not entirely sure. Yeah, I know. I will probably just buy them through the box office when single game tickets go on sale, but figured I'd throw it out here too.

QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 06:32 AM) No, he'll keep 26. If he were going to change, Crain would have gone back to 26. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/roste...an.jsp?c_id=cws http://mlb.mlb.com/team/roster_nri.jsp?c_id=cws I find it funny that changing a uniform number is listed in the official transactions. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/trans...amp;team_id=145 Too bad Quintana got stuck with 62 when he did. Terrible number. I disagree. I think goofy numbers are great.

Surprising my old man with a trip to Chicago to see the SOX for his 60th birthday. Having been born and raised in enemy territory up here in MN, I wouldn't be a SOX fan if it weren't for him. We haven't made it to Chicago together for a few years, so it should be a great time. Looking for a set of three tickets for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday games against the Reds on May 8th-10th. I understand that single game tickets do not go on sale until late next week, but thought some of you season ticket holders may be looking to sell that weekend. Feel free to PM me or post here if you have any tickets to sell for that weekend. Thanks!

QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) Get a package, have rep access all year. Plus, as season ticket holder, you have lower level access. I have Fri, Sat and Sun for every home series. 38+ games? for under $200. $7 upper corners. I don't know if that was directed at me, but I live in MN. If I liked anywhere near Chicago I'd have been a season ticket holder a long time ago.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) If Rodon does not pitch with the Sox this year, will he be in the same position next year with the arbitration clock issue? Good question. I've wondered the same thing myself. Although I see it as a highly unlikely scenario unless he gets hurt.
-
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) That only applies to ticket packages. Single game tix are ticketbastard only. Or the box office. Thanks. When do the discount codes usually get released?
-
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jan 26, 2015 -> 12:27 PM) If you call the sox directly, you can avoid the fees. This goes for groups packages as well as season tix. Have you been assigned a rep? Will you be able to get single game tickets by calling on the 27th, or only online?

If you could acquire one last player to complete the offseason...

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Sell the farm for Cole Hamels. ALL THE LEFTIES!!!!! -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) I think he's gonna have some good games, but just as many absolute disasters. The problem with his velo loss isn't that he CAN'T be good, it's that he has to be on-point practically every pitch in order to be good. He'll have that stuff some days, but he'll have to re-invent himself to avoid being a problem more often than not, IMO. That's pretty much exactly what Danks did last year. He was really good about 70% of the time, and really bad about 20% of the time. 10% of the time he was somewhere in between. Look at these 6 starts: 5/2 vs. CLE: 5.0 IP 8 ER 5/18 @ HOU: 4.2 IP 7 ER 6/22 @ MIN: 5.0IP 6 ER 7/20 vs HOU: 4.1 IP 7 ER 8/5 vs. TEX: 4.2IP 9 ER 9/3 vs. MIN: 4.2IP 7 ER In those 6 starts, he pitched 28.2 innings with 44 ER (13.81 ERA). In his other 26 starts (21 of those were "quality starts"), he pitched 165 innings with 58 ER (3.16 ERA). Obviously if you throw out every SP's 6 worst starts, their numbers look better, but Danks is on a whole different level. If he can limit the stinkers a bit better than he did in 2014, Danks is serviceable in the 4 spot ($ not withstanding). Interestingly enough, his worst starts came against Houston, Minnesota and Texas, three of the worst teams in the AL last year. I don't expect big things from Johnny in 15, but I don't think he's going to that big of an issue. The $15.75M could obviously be better spent, but that's water under the bridge at this point.

I don't watch a ton of NL baseball (as my eyes are usually glued to the SOX), so I haven't seen a ton of LaRoche in recent years, but he sure has a beautiful left-handed power stroke. I look forward to seeing balls crushed over the RF fence. I predict a big year for Adam.

I think Jose proved just how good of a hitter he is in the 2nd half last year. Before the all-star break: .292/.342/.972 with 72 RBI and 29 HR in 322 AB After the all-star break: .350/.435/.948 with 34 RBI and 7 HR in 234 AB Sure, his power numbers took a hit as the league adjusted to him, and the 162 game season caught up to him. But he absolutely wore out RF in the 2nd half. He looked like one of the best pure hitters in the game (power numbers aside). My fearless 2015 projection: .328/.390/.995 with 40 HR and 120 RBI
