  1. Has anyone seen the economics of this yet? Eloy is still owed ~$4.5M + $3M buyout. Can’t imagine Os assumed all of that.
  2. At this point, a $100M 2025 payroll would require significant additions in the offseason.
  3. Good with me. Kid glove the heck out of him, and trade for a haul this winter.
  4. Again, this is insane. This is these dude's livelihoods. They have millions of dollars riding on their performance. Young guys want to stick in the league and make enough money to be set for life. The older scrubs want to stay in the league. Everyone is trying. Outside of a few guys, they just are not any good.
  5. I mean, i hate Pedro as much as the next guy. He should have been fired last season. But he's not completely wrong here. And at this point, its going to be mostly a new clubhouse anyway.
  6. The bigger returns have all been pitching heavy though. I think that is part of the problem. Will again caveat that I am not condoning the Fedde return.
  7. Ehh. It really depends on the offers. Its not inconcievable that teams just aren't going to pay top dollar considering the extension demands and the fact that Crochet can't really help you that much ROS with the innings limits. I get what you're saying, but if you don't like the offers, waiting is so much better than settling. The guy still has 2 years of control, and will still be pretty dang cheap in 2025 because arb raises aren't 10x.
  8. The best part about this is just getting Dejong out of the way. There was zero reason to continue to play him. He was going to be on waivers tomorrow, so getting a guy that maybe becomes a major league reliever some day is fine. Certainly not exciting, but if anyone was expecting exciting for a guy released 2x last season, they're bound to be disappointed.
  9. Love the switching dugouts situation. Bet he goes yard tonight or tomorrow.
  10. I cannot wait to never have to hear that dope speak again.
  11. DeJong will be on waivers tomorrow if he doesn't get acquired today. If no one claims him (and I think they would for like $600k), he should be DFAd the following day. Absolutely zero reason for DeJong to take another at bat for this team.
  12. Meh. Holding Crochet and letting all 29 teams bid on him this winter is WORLD'S better than trading him for best offer right now if the best offer isn't good.
  13. What else are the Yankees going to give us? I doubt Dominguez is available. Its literally Jones and several supporting pieces, or NYY isn't an option.
  14. I am not upset, tbh. Sorry if came off that way. Sometimes just gets a little exhausting weeding through your rhetoric. Doubt I am alone. Here's to hoping Robert has a monster first half next season. Sox could certainly use the good fortune.
  15. Well when you take your two best prospects off the table, one of which is vastly overrated, you'll get that response.
  16. He is an .816 OPS career gold glove caliber CF just reaching his prime years under control for 3.33 seasons. You love using small sample sizes to fuel your negativity, but then will use larger ones when its convenient. Robert has not been good in 2024, and trading him at his lowest would be dumb. But let's please stop acting like the guy doesn't still have a ton of value.
  17. Then you trade him in December when 29 teams are interested. Shut him down in the meantime if you're worried about injury. Selling low is the absolute worst thing to do.
  18. As for moving him today, I hope they don't. Robert will be vastly more valuable next July imo.
  19. Yah, I don't really think effort is the issue with Robert. He's just been in one of those funks where he can't lay off the slider. It happens every year. And then a couple weeks later he looks amazing again. He's just a streaky hitter. If he weren't, he'd be an 8 WAR Player. Robert may not be a "fiery" player but I don't think its an effort issue. I think most of it is he's just so athletic, he makes everything look effortless.
  20. Fairly certain Sox just picked up a little bit of Pham's $500k assignment bonus for being traded. Its probably safe to assume Pham had basically no surplus value and was in fact just a throw in.
  21. Very unlikely. Cash is always just an option in case they don’t want one of the players they agreed to select from. Dodgers didn’t even send anyone making any $; cash doesn’t make any sense.
  22. It’s a 30 game sample, yes. But his minor league sample is quite good. Look, I’m not defending the trade, but Vargas is a much better player than 90% of Sox fans are giving them credit for. Return should have included one of STLs best prospects as well, tho.
  23. DeJong sucks at 3B. Hopefully we can end that experiment after today.
