Correct. And that final option will be used in 2 days when he's sent to Charlotte. Not when he's recalled later this season. 1 option is good for the whole season.
-
That's....not how options work.
-
We think Leury asked the Uber to turn around?
-
Undramatic game threads is an oxymoron.
-
Speaking of Cespedes, I was scrolling through spring training stats the other day and he had appeared in one single game this spring. Is he hurt? I know he hasn't exactly developed as hoped, but I figured he'd at least be in line for a potential debut later this season or 2024 as a 4th OF type. Not exactly a great sign that he didn't get really any looks at all with the big league club in ST, or even split squad games. Just struck me as weird. .

There is no way Eloy plays 40-50 games in the OF if Benintendi, Robert and Colas remain mostly healthy. If one of those guys go down for a long period of time, all bets are off as they're not exactly loaded with OFs.
-
I'd prefer to have a 5th starter, myself. But I understand the sentiment.
-
I'd rather stick Alberto or Sheets in the OF than Eloy, honestly. Not because I think they'll be better defensively (Eloy is easily the best OF of the trio), but because Eloy does no one any good if he's hurt and eliminating the chances of him getting hurt playing the OF would go a long way towards him play 130+ games. Yes, Eloy is just as likely get hurt running the bases as he is in the OF, but you're eliminating like 80% of those chances by making him the full-time DH. The math is simple, IMO. Add to the fact that even though Eloy is a better OF than Sheets/Alberto, he is not a good one at all.

I know, just an irrational fear after Moncada coming out achy yesterday. Just need OD to get here!
-
I hear ya for sure.

Hoping we see a skeleton squad the next 2 days. Really don't need any injuries.
-
Probably best to just move on from it. Don't have to like him and he is indeed a shitbag. History suggest he'll probably be on the IL before too long anyway. From a baseball standpoint, if he can stay healthy, he'll be useful. Not the first POS the Sox have employed, and won't be the last.
-
I highly doubt that but we’ll find out soon enough. Definitely think a rebuilding type club would take him for the major league minimum. That said, I wouldn’t blame him for collecting $11 million while doing nothing. Good gig if you can get it.
-
Fegans article said Leurys locker was cleared out yesterday. He gone. I assume order of events will be DFA, clearing waivers and then being granted his release. Then he signs elsewhere for MLB min, saving Sox $700k of the $11M due and Leury is back in the big leagues in under 10 days.
-
With regard to Haseley, Let’s see in the hitters haven in Charlotte first. He was pretty dreadful there last season.
-
What happened to Burger being on the roster?
-
Merkin saying Yoan says his back is fine, fwiw.
-
Any word on why Yoan left?
-
He’d have to consent to it. Seems unlikely.
-
Leury was a useful utility player from 17-21. He was perfectly fine for what he was. Comping the Ricky teams to the TLR teams is kind of silly because the talent of the roster was much different. Don’t really care to debate him any longer as he’s gone, just saying i wish him well. The club make the right call.
-
I personally wish Leury the best. A good guy, always a smile on his face. He could still be useful as a 26th man and I expect he’ll find a new home quickly once he’s eventually released. Not his fault Tony and the FO grossly overvalued him. Good luck, Leury!
-
Kept reading. Too bad she’s going to be released.
-
Also hope Shaw goes to AAA. He could be useful.
-
That last part is a pretty big stretch.
-
While I actually mostly agree with this, he does hit right handed pitching pretty well and is a nice pinch hit bat off the bench. All things considered though, Sheets and Burger should both be in AAA if this roster was constructed appropriately.
