Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence

Well, I think she informed us of the investigation, not the league. -
Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
ChiSox59 replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Do you have twitter? Search Mike Clevinger under the photos tab and the ex GF/mother of one his kids instagram screenshots show up, including pictures of the alleged injuries. What she describes is certainly worse than what the pictures show, but obviously any sort of abuse of this nature is wholly unacceptable. -

Thanks. That is kind of what I figured. Means there is next to no chance Sox actually release him before this gets sorted out. -

I am asking what I asked. Not that complicated. If they release him today for example, and he gets put on an un-paid administrative leave before the season and then a suspended without pay much like Bauer did, if the Sox released him before that actually occurs, does it change the un-paid nature of the suspension. -

Yah, that's what I was thinking. Therefore Sox almost certainly will wait until he's placed on un-paid administrative leave while MLB goes through their process. -

If Sox release him before his suspension is handed down, do they still owe him the $? -

I felt the same. Not defending this POS in the slightest, but a couple scratches on the arm (that frankly could be from pruning a bush or playing with a kitten) aren't nearly as bad at Balta made it sound. I was expecting a bruised neck with handmarks or something. Unless there is something else out there I didn't see. -

JFC. Already starting to feel like another season from hell. -
2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread

Sure, its possible. I don't buy it that they "cannot afford" it, but moreso that the Jerry hasn't approved it. I think its more likely that the Sox were not interested in those 2 players. -

Ya. Certainly possible that KC preferred to move him outside the division, but they did just trade Taylor to the Twins yesterday. No one knows Modesi better than Grifol, so that's wroth considering as well. -

Seems like Royals just gave Modesi away. He's only set to make $3M in 23 before FA. -

Seems likely, but let's not pretend like Jerry anything but one of the main reasons why this club failed to execute on their plan. If he just let his baseball people make the baseball decisions, me thinks the last 2 seasons would have gone a good bit better. -

I think the "championship window" thing is very overplayed at this point. Has anyone actually affiliated with the organization mentioned that the Sox are in a championship window this offseason? It was said many times in the past, but I do not recall hearing it this offseason. The front office is obviously hoping for the best and for bounce backs from key players - I too am disappointed more hasn't been done. But if JR really set the payroll limit at $180M or so heading into the season, what else could they have realistically done? The reality of the situation is the multiple championship window was burned to the ground when Tony LaRussa sabotaged year 2-3 of said window and left a mess in his wake. -
Jason Benetti & Steve Stone back - options picked up

I’d be shocked if they are not back. -

Twins gotta get some sort of CF depth for when Buxton spends his 2-3 months on the IL. Isn’t going to be Kepler as he’ll be traded soon enough. Gallo deal still makes no sense for the Twins. -
I think its more that he is a 26 year old kid that isn't interested in being relegated to DH duty for the rest of his career quite yet. Just because he wants to play OF and the coaching staff is at least leaving that door open for it (closing the door would be kind of stupid, if its they only played him out there in emergencies), does NOT mean they actually intend for him to anything but the primary DH.

Grifol told Eloy to get some work in RF
ChiSox59 replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Who cares what Eloy thinks? No one should at this point. He has lost that privilege. I am glad he's not being lazy though. Its a good thing that that he wants to play the OF and is still training at it, not bad. -
If Elvis could be had for like 1/$3-4M to play 2B, considering the current state of the roster and external options, what would you guys think about that? I was never for it, but as the options dwindle, it feels better than handing the job to Romy if Evlis could actually be had for $3-4M.

Nah, Crochet is going to be needed in the pen. If they wanted to make him a SP, they should have done it in 2021 in the minors. With the TJS, ship has sailed.

I do agree that this fanbase gets a bit carried away with former players, and Cubs players. I think most fanbases do similar things - fans generally gravitate to what they are most familiar with. As for Madrigal, he is not a guy I would be targeting. There are definitely better options - someone like Joey Wendle would be great. But Wendle is probably not available with Jazz moving to CF. Madrigal is definitely available. I do think Madrigal is an improvement on the current options....at the moment. If the sox acquired him for like....Andrew Dalquist, I'd be fine with it. Romy is almost certainly just a guy. We all know what Leury is. I think 2B is Sosa's eventually, but he's probably not ready yet and could use more time in the minors.
