  1. http://variety.com/2015/film/news/chistoph...ie-1201662561/A The main characters of this film are young adults/teenagers and they'll be surrounded by an established supporting cast (Hardy, Rylance and Branagh) and it will be shot on both IMAX 15/70mm and 65mm. I'm willing to bet that there is more to the film than what the studio has let out and that this is more than a straight up war film, but Nolan doing a "War Epic Action Thriller" on large format film is more than a straight up war film.
  2. One of the best contracts in all of baseball. Think about this; If Chris Davis is worth $21.4M (In the eyes of the Orioles at least), how much is Jose Abreu worth?
  3. Starting this spring all the major studios will starting looking at applicants for entry level positions and internships. Just go to the studio's website and head to the career page and information should be there, if not give it some time. I know that Warner Bros. has info up already. And if you know anyone that would be interested and that person is a minority (including LGBTQ) tell them to look up production companies, call them and ask them about diversity programs, the studios should have some as well but this is Hollywood, so I would not be surprised if they didn't.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) This isn't correct. San Diego will have 2 picks (Upton, Kennedy) in front of White Sox. Sox currently sit at #29 with Murphy signing. Iwakuma going back to Seattle didn't help. No, the Sox as of this point in time have 27th pick in the draft. And it should get higher as more players sign.
  5. Fully expect The Force Awakens to get a major award push. For both above and below the line awards.
  6. Seen it twice now. It's phenomenal. It asked a hundred questions and the story could go anywhere from here.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) My buddy got to see it last night and said its really really good. He told me some vague stuff, no spoilers, but will refrain from even mentioning them. I know a couple people that work at Bad Robot and went to premiere, refusing to talk to them till I get out of the marathon.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) Platoon him with Trayce I don't want a platoon player that makes over $17.75M annually over the next three years and one that is in the downside of his career. Even if the Dodgers eat the majority of his salary, still a no.
  9. If you want to avoid spoilers get off the internet now. People (non press) are starting to spill the beans as they leave the after party (which everyone who waited in line was invited to) even though the embargo is lifted on Wednesday at 12:01am
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) Saw the night before. Its exactly what you'd expect. Had lots of funny parts, had no real point to it being made. The only thing I found interesting is Joseph Gordon Leavitt was not very good in it. I think around looper it began a push that he was a new superstar. He was good in looper but I don't see any charisma in him. I don't think he could carry a weak script. He was incredibly annoying in this. I thought that movie was terrible. It relies to heavily on references and horribly overused clichés. This movie tried to be a comedy and a drama at the same time, while not prioritizing one over the other and it failed it at both. Hugely disappointing.
  11. The Commissioner has left the door open on the HOF. https://twitter.com/jareddiamond/status/676460933162672129
  12. Katherine Bigelow and Mark Boal are making a movie about this case. Boal worked on the second season of the podcast as a way to share information
  13. I don't want to see the Sox spend big on anyone this winter. One of the worst things you can be in pro sports is old, non competitive and uncompetitive. The White Sox are on their way there. I think that they should focus on acquiring young talent, rather than spending big on FAs. And if the Sox were to sign Cesoedes, they would be paying for his decline and that's not smart.
  14. He is not worth the lost of a draft pick.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) http://screenrant.com/x-men-apocalypse-trailer/ Singer, it's time to hand the reigns to someone else. This looks awesome. I’ve been called many things over many lifetimes. Ra. Krishna. Yahweh. That has to be my favorite single line of dialogue that I've heard all year. I love the Singer X-Films but my biggest complaint about them is that they are too short and don't always dive all the way in. An example of that would be in Days of Futures Past, when Vaughn was the director, he said that he would spend ample time in the future setting and he described his take on it as 'X Men meets Terminator'. Anyone who read the comic knows that the future setting plays a huge role in the story but it was only in the film for about 20 minutes. Singer said that Apocalypse is the longest film in the series and its the biggest in terms of scope and scale. Which makes me happy. I really like how Fox is approaching the X-Men franchise, rather than doing a full reboot, they retconned everything by creating an alternate timeline, which allows them to recast and whatnot. In my opinion, Singer is the perfect person to direct and godfather these movies. I remember watching an interview him on Charlie Rose, when he was during press for one of his films and he said that at it's core the X Men are about an oppressed people, fighting for their acceptance in the face of bigotry. With Bryan Singer, being a gay, Jewish man he brings something personal to the movies that you would not get from most directors. A good example of this would be the Iceman arc in X2. Fox was supposed to market Days of Futures Past as Bryan Singer's big comeback. He did a ton of press during production and while in post but after those (false) allegations about him came out, Fox halted on that angle of the marketing. I wonder what Disney/Marvel is thinking, because as it stands they are never going to get the X-Men films right back. I do know for a fact that if this movie or any Xfilm has tie-in video games/comics, merchandise and toys, that all of that money goes straight to Disney. They even stopped marketing the XMen in the comics. Maybe they stop publishing and manufacturing all things XMen and try to suffocate the property to hurt Fox, like they did previously with Fantastic Four. Of course they can buy the rights back but Fox isn't stupid enough to give away their biggest franchise but if Disney were to buy it back, some people say that it would rival what they paid for Lucasfilm. Which goes to show you how big the XMen universe is and its franchise potential. There are currently 2 films about to be released (Deadpool and Apocalypse), another 4 films (Wolverine, Young Mutants, X Force and Gambit) in active development and 2 TV shows being worked on.
  16. I do think the Sox need to draft their third baseman of the future if the (BPA) fit is there. There are some intriguing names like Drew Mendoza and Nolan Jones. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) Montas for McMahon seems like a better fit. Definitely no to Fulmer. This trade would intrigue me.
  17. Don't want him, he has an QO attached.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:04 PM) Great post. Made me laugh out loud. I actually was thinking I wouldn't mind seeing Frazier in a Sox uniform. It's risky acquiring NL guys but would they take Eaton/Rodon and a Class A guy? We got Trayce to take over for Eaton. I am not trading Rodon unless I am getting a young, cost controlled, stud position player back.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) I don't get overly upset because it's a movie, but... that change dramatically altered the tone of the scene. It undercuts the potrayal of a key character. It changes the landscape, and Lucas' recent excuse for it (that he saw Solo as a John Wayne type) was bizarre (much like the rest of what he's done as his career has gone on). I saw '97 version first but when I see that version of the scene, I get that this is a badass space pirate and I think that scene is meant to show the audience not only how badass Han is but how shady the world that he operates in is. When I see the original version of the scene I come to the same conclusion. Han is a badass and he operates in a really shady business (like any other drug dealer). For me, it dose not change his portrayal, the landscape or his character's arc. You can't really say that Lucas is wrong, this comes from his imagination and he can do whatever he sees fits. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) "Upset" is a little strong. It's just silly. 1) Han's not really on a redemption arc anymore because apparently he was never a gray character. Instead of killing someone to save his ass, it's self defense. 2) An experienced bounty hunter missing at point blank range is far-fetched. 3) There was no mention of Greedo firing in drafts of the original script, so why is Lucas denying it was ever written that way? It's just weird. I don't get any of that.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) So, if we trade for Frazier and sign Upton? You'd still want to sell with all that money coming off the books the next year? I don't want them anywhere near the team. Todd Frazier is not worth Tim Anderson or Carson Fulmer in my opinion and Justin Upton is not worth giving up having three draft picks in the top 48. If you want an outfield bat, go get Cespedes, since he has no QO attached.
  21. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) This discussion of the re-releases reminds me: Greedo shot first is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen! Why does it matter? The changing of that little detail did nothing to alter the tone or purpose of the scene. I never got why people were so upset.
  22. For the people that signed up for the advanced movie screenings, did anyone go see In The Heart Of The Sea on the 8th? I just saw the tickets in my email and wondered if anyone went.
