I dont think any player with a QO attached is a buy low candidate.

If the Sox decide to go through another rebuilding year, then they have no need for David Robertson. What do you think they could get for him, if he were to be traded?
-
I had a hour long conversation about this today. I said that if had to trade Sale to Boston I would want back: Boagaerts (He fills an immediate need, as he can be your third baseman or shortstop of the future), Yoan Moncada (I need your top prospect back and bat that should play anywhere for me), and another prospect or two back.

Should the White Sox and Atlanta talk trade?

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 16, 2015 -> 01:11 AM) Hector Olivera could make more sense than either of the aforementioned targets if the Sox have liked what they have seen from him. He's an older Cuban defector who plays 2B and 3B. He missed a lot of last year with Tommy John surgery. He's owed 34.5 million over the next six years. Not endorsing it just mentioning it. That would be a horrible pick up. As Vince Vaughn said in the wonderful second season of True Detective, "Never take on somebody else's burden." Olivera is over 30 and I have serious doubts about his elbow. This is the type of player that the Sox should stay away from. -
QUOTE (juddling @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) WTF CBS??? I have been waiting patiently for the last month or so for Person of Interest's return only to find online that this upcoming season has been shortened to only 13 episodes but it's the LAST season. RIP Team Machine........ At CCSD Jonathan Nolan said that they're approaching the upcoming season as it is going to be their last because they haven't been told anything by CBS. I still don't think an announcement has been made either way. But I think that this is going to be the last season because Nolan has another show coming up on HBO called Westworld (Where he is the showrunner), and ever since Interstellar's press tour, he has been seriously talking about directing a feature and that he directed the the pilot episode of Westworld to hone his skills behind the camera. Plus his brother has a new movie in pre-production, his wife sold a script to Legendary with huge blockbuster potential that the studio is keen on making and he is very much in demand as a screenwriter. I think that with all that is on his plate that Person of Interest is over.

I just posted this in the 2016 draft thread: Depending on what happens with the QO's they could have a pick before #30. Last year the #10 overall pick had a value of $3,231,300 and picks before #30 have a value of around $2M. The Sox could have about $7.1M to spend on their first four picks (First round, comp pick, second and third rounds) in the draft, going on the values from the 2015 draft. -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 02:05 AM) And those 3 players accepting their QO pushed our 2nd RD pick 3 picks better than we had thought. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) Actually he is one of three writers hired to draft scripts. They are doing a thunderdome script choosing Yes and no. They hired Will Beal (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300) to write their own scripts for Aquaman, and WB was going to move forward with the best script. When James Wan was announced as the director, it was revealed that WB/DC decided to go forward with the Kurt Johnstad script (Thank God). I imagine Johnson is in to write the last draft of the script as they gear up for production. *Kurt Johnstad also did a pass on Man of Steel after Snyder came on board, however Johnathan Nolan did the final rewrite.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) DC hires another writer to draft a script for Aquaman, this time the writer from the epic modern day classic, Wrath of the Titans Don't worry about that. James Wan is comfortable with him and uses him to rewrite everything he does (with the exception of the Insidious films), this is probably just a polish of the script.

Should the White Sox and Rockies talk trade?

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:51 PM) Can't remember many - Marte to Sox and then back to Pitt? DeLeon/Bonilla? But they do seem to like small trades...the kind I wish we'd make more of. They would be a nice partner in a Q deal. -
Thank you to everyone, but dont worry I've gone through this before. I just don't want my body to be destroyed and look like a black Louis Anderson after I recover.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) For any house/techno fans, Boiler Room has been live from Chicago the past two nights and from Detroit this weekend. Chicago versus Detroit...on reloop all week https://boilerroom.tv/chicago-vs-detroit/ I had tickets but could not make it. I should have tix for Saturday in Detroit and I am seriously considering driving there.

I am having heart surgery next week and wated to know if anyone knows any good nutritionist in the Chicago area. This is not my first rodeo with heart surgery and it destroyed my body, I would like avoid that this time around and really be as healthy as I can, since I will not be able to work out for a moment. So if you know any good nutritionist or personal trainers, please let me know.

I think that if they focus on improving on defense, that they could be .500 team.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) What do you mean? That's the whole problem with the movie. That's why that whole story line was f***ing stupid. Obviously there will be more to it than just. "You scared my face and made me bald, now you have to die."

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) i really can't see that and the revenge factor. but in this movie, he was cold and uncaring. his only goal was killing. just remember this part, i am going to be very cryptic in this. toward the end, he was driving in a car after a meeting, the person driving was kinda of looking at him and he was impersonal. not feeling or facial feelings being shown. again for me, that was denoting his lack of emotion. I meant by that last bit in my post We will get the ESB of our dreams in Bond 25
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) btw, what was anyone opinion of Dr. Moriarty the actor performance in the movie. You could have done without the character or make his ties to that one organization more apparent.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) I'm not suggesting you can't have fun with the movie. Even Skyfall had its moments. But I like the Bond films where Bond feels some emotion, he feels loss, rejection, devastation, etc. which fuels him to go get some revenge. That to me was a tonal shift that made these last few enjoyable. He had it in this one, but the explanation trying to tie it all together was so bad. And the previous three Craig films did that, this is a different stage in the character's journey. This movie was Bond confident in who he is and his place in the world. We don't need a super dark and emotional story because the character has moved on from that point of his life. Regarding Waltz, I thought the character was appropriate for the world that was started in Casino Royale. Again, the Waltz character was just a tease and he will have a much bigger role in Bond 25, where we will get Oberhauser fully formed and out for revenge of his own.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) Count me in the camp that wanted this to be Skyfall 2.0, which I consider to be one of the best Bond films ever. 30 years ago it was fine to do the over-the-top spy movie. But that's been played out. Adding some emotional weight to the character is a GOOD thing. Making him more human is a GOOD thing. Making him more of a cartoon character is not, and that's what this movie fell back to. Spectre is not an over the top spy movie, it's still grounded in realism. Daniel Craig said it best, they started something with Casino Royale and it comes full circle with Spectre. He said that he liked that all the classic tropes were absent in CR because the character did not earn them yet. With Spectre being Bond fully formed, they were able to play with those tropes. And Spectre is not a spy movie at all, it's an adventure film.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 07:09 AM) I hope they get every penny. When the fraternity first notified us, saying that they were taking legal action, they said that the three guys were pursuing their own cases as well.

After I saw Spectre, me and my filmmaking partner had an interesting conversation. We all that know (it hasn't been confirmed but come on) that Daniel Craig is coming back for Bond 25 and that Spectre was conceived as the first part in a two part story, and that Sam Mendes has confirmed that he is not coming back to do Bond 25. Who would you hire to direct Bond 25? I said Joe Cornish, he directed Attack the Block, which has been his only directing gig to date, along with Edgar Wright (who would be another good choice) he co wrote The Adventures of Tintin and developed and wrote Ant-Man. He also had a hand in the Cornetto Trilogy. I would pick him because in terms of stlye, you wouldn't miss a beat with what was started in Spectre and he is a really good writer. And as of right now he is basically a director for hire, so he would not have a problem doing the concluding installment in a franchise that was started by someone else (Campbell and Mendes), that would ward off more established directors. He was JJ Abrams top choice to direct Star Trek 3 and he is the favorite to direct Gambit. EON Productions's distribution deal with Sony has been fulfiled with Spectre and they're looking for another studio to partner up. A lot of people are saying that Warner Brother is going to be that studio (Disney has no interest) and that they are going to hand it over to Christopher Nolan after the completion of the Daniel Craig era. I know that he has been having conistent conversations with EON since Inception came out but the timing has never been right. Some people reported that when they first started talking that the initial hurdle was the level of creative control that he would have over the film(s) and choosing his own Bond, which is really his only cavet. This collaboration would be very interesting because there has neer been a director of his caliber and clout to direct a Bond film. Its also funny because Mendes has said that Nolan has been his biggest influence on his Bond films and he was even brought in some of Nolan's most well know collaborators (Most notably Hoyte Van Hoytema - Cinematographer and Lee Smith - Editor) to work on Spectre.
