  1. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 12:58 AM) Ugh, son of a b****. First Jason Parks, now Kiley McDaniel....now whose podcast am I going to listen to learn about prospects? His comprehensive list was so incredible, it's going to suck for Fangraphs to replace that kind of work he put in. I'm sure they won't. Kevin Goldstein too.
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) His BABIP is out of wack. If the BoSox took Danks and gave us 50 million I'd do it. Not sure what the deal is on his vesting option though. That would be a bigger deal than "something to consider." I definitely think the Sox are interested in taking a risk on a bigger contract on an offensive player with upside. If another team throws a lot of money it could easily end up in surplus value. 1.) Take a calculated risk on a guy with a big contract that another team is willing to pay you to take him. 2.) Move Q for a package of young players. 3.) Augment lineup with a crafty FA signing that has no QO attached. 1.) Trade LaRoche for Ramirez and 40 million. 2.) Trade Quintana, Frankie Montas and Carlos Sanchez to the Cubs for Kyle Schwarber, Jeimer Candelario and Javier Baez. 3.) Sign Uribe. L CF Eaton R 3B Uribe R 1B Abreu L RF Schwarber S DH Ramirez R 2B Baez S LF Cabrera R C Flowers R SS Ramirez Thompson defensive replacement for Thompson/Cabrera. Gets looks against LHP. Johnson gets starts at 2B with Baez getting looks at SS. Get a lefthanded hitting back up for Flowers. Defensive infield is awesome. Flexilbity is there. Schwarber, Uribe, Baez and Ramirez bring badly needed power potential. Hate that Q deal.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) Welcome to 2015 where you can't draft the same way as the good old days. Yeah some of those teams overspent in the draft, but they overspent to get what they thought were the best players on the board.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) i can see this debate in a good theory and based on good judgement with available information. with the opinion that sometimes players hopes may not become, if development fails. but when a team is picking in the top 7- 10 i will always take, a pitcher, unless a hitter comes with a huge gossip of being a great prospect. however the level of pitching, at this present time, only the top 2 or 3 are what i would say excellent prospect / sp. however how can you not look acquiring an elite bat over the possibility of getting a sp. now only defense in my point is 2 players who were passed over.... mike trout and giancarlo stanton . Know why the Cubs, Cardinals, Giants, Astros and Dodgers got where they are? Do know how the Braves teams of the 90s became a 15 year dynasty? They took BPA always, regardless of where they picked and what their org needed.
  5. A over 30 declining player, no thanks.
  6. About to see Steve Jobs. I was really excited for this movie and followed the production. I was super stoked that Christian Bale and David Fincher were teaming up to do an Aaron Sprin script, but sadly due to Steve Jobs' widow that won't be happening. When you think about it, the movie we're getting is not the movie that the people involved set out to make. We're getting the compromised version in that sense. Still excited.
  7. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) Oh I know. I'm just reiterating it. I have a bad feeling that the Sox will f*** up this pick somehow. Ever since the current CBA came into effect, the Sox are a fairly good drafting team, at least when it comes to first round picks. I would like to see them become a little more creative when it comes to spreading out the bons pool.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:47 PM) Steverson led one of the worst hitting sox teams in history and his job is apparently safe. Take a deep breath and think about that for a second. Also think about his bigger role in the org.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 1h1 hour ago Phoenix, AZ White Sox having scouting and player development meetings this week at Camelback Ranch. Hahn, Williams, Cooper and Steverson all here. OH MY GOD, THEY DID NOT MENTION VENTURA
  10. A strength of this class is left handed bats.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 09:22 AM) So we all thinking we will draft a hitter at #10? Who are the "targets"? I haven't read anything on prospects yet. I think the targets are going to be the best player available. If the Sox are going in thinking we have to take a hitter at 10 and a pitcher with the comp pick or whatever, their draft is screwed
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 06:53 AM) 2 things, he is a hs'er and where the sox are selecting, he is not an option. second he is listed as maybe a later 1rnd'er right now. now when the new season starts and end, there will be many changes .... What do you mean he is not an option, every player who declares themselves eligible is an option. What does being a HS'er have to do with anything? Especially when the new scouting director has said multiple times that he prefers HS'ers to college kids. I never said that he should go at 10 to the Sox, I said keep an eye on him. And you even said that there is going to be many changes over the course of the season, then why bring up any of the things you did.
  13. Keep an eye on Drew Mendoza. 6'4 SS from LF, with a nice lefty swing.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 07:03 PM) One of two things happened... He got a couple of offers that blew away the $2.5 million, or this story was a plant to drum up some interest. Kiley McDaniel said he got 7M plus offers from multiple teams but didn't bite in hopes of getting a bigger offer, which didn't come. Bobby Evans was kinda wishy washy In his remarks
  15. The first and only trailer to The Force Awakens comes out on October 19th, according to the reliable Star Wars News net. They are the only site to come out and put their name on the line and attach it to a date. Talked to someone at the film festival office who works with Syncopy, and you'll get more info about the new Christopher Nolan film before the holidays.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) I can't see him waiting until next summer. That is 10 more months to go unpaid and not play professional baseball. I tihnk he will because he will get more money if he waits because more teams will be willing to go over and some of usual suspects on the international market are not able to sign him.
  17. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 08:01 AM) What has he done to earn your trust? His job.

  19. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) Get him now, there are plenty of other young Cuban guys out there to make it worth your while to go over the limit this year and all alot closer to the majors then the guys the Sox would be signing on the next two July signing periods. Now is the perfect time to bust the limit with the abundance of players available, the depth of position players in the Sox system, and the impending international draft. Completely disagree, the 2016 INTL class is supposed to be the best it's been in years and Sox would not be willing to pay the overage fee on those contracts for Cuban as opposed to 16 kids in the Dominicans because of how expensive they are compared to theit LA counterparts
  20. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) This kids height isn't that surprising, but I was referring more to his muscular stature than anything else. The guy is ripped. Even the most muscular kids I know aren't like that. Again look at college football recruits
  21. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) I'm sorry, but I doubt this kid is 16. He's probably 18 or 19. There is no 16 year old I know that is built like that. Look up Ronald Washington, he's an American and the top projected player in the 2017 draft, he looks just like that. So yes, it is possible for a 16 year old to look like that. Even look at college football recruits, they look like that. If Lazarito was an American, you would not doubt his age.
  22. I would wait to sign him till the 2016 signing period. The dude is pretty determined and that bodes well for his success and according to the picture of that accompanied the article, he is a physical specimen.
