Red Sox looking for cost controlled pitchers
Boopa1219 replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 11:09 PM) Holy f*** no. That shows you that the Red Sox wouldn't make good trade partners -
Haven't had this much fun talking about a slave trade, since me and the other black students at UIC got together every February for our Black History brunch. This is so f***ed up is not even funny.

Cardinals Fire Scouting Director For Connection To Astros Hack
Boopa1219 replied to Boopa1219's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (AlSoxfan @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) Well if what he does is steal other scouts work then maybe he's not such a good scout after all????? That was not the point of the hack, the point of the hack was to see if the Astros stole any sensitive materials from the Cardinals -

Who do you want to see replace Robin as manager of the Sox?
Boopa1219 replied to Boopa1219's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 03:07 PM) So today is the day to finally start talking about this? After the now infamous Shark debacle, I had enough. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) No mention of Mendoza, don't know what that means. Chicago White Sox @whitesox 6m6 minutes ago Chicago, IL White Sox have agreed to terms with four international FAs: OF Franklin Reyes & IFs Brayant Nova, Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Santo Vasquez The White Sox expect additional Latin American signings in the coming months. Mendoza is probably a smaller signing

I have been a pretty big Robin supporter over the course of his tenure but after the past 10 games I have had enough, I think that White Sox should part ways with Robin Ventura. Getting rid of Robin won't solve all the problems that plague the team but it would be a step in the right direction. I really want Rick Hahn to hire his own manager and with that manager establish a culture of winning, where they teach and approach the game the same way throughout the entire organization (DSL to MLB). Let me start off by mentioning two names: Bo Porter and Brandon Hyde. Porter was the manager of the Astros from 2013 to 2014, I think that despite the fact that the Astros were clearly tanking (to steal an NBA term) and= had a terrible roster, they still played pretty hard and played from the games that I have seen. And he taught the young players on the team how to play the right way, he deserves credit for the way the Astros are playing now in my opinion. When he was looking for a manager GM Jeff Luhnow wanted a guy that was akin to Joe Maddon, and those guidelines lead him to Porter, who also is not afraid to bring sabremetrics into the dugout. Lunhow said, “Bo understands and appreciates the effect technology and the analytical side has had on the game... He wants to not only accept it, but take it and let it impact the organization. I think he will help us continue to apply some of the things we’ve been working on.” Reports about Porter being too intense and his displeasure with his overall involvement in the org's decisions came out around the time of his firing. I think that Porter would bring some forward thinking to the dugout and an intense mentality to the team, while bringing his track record in player development with him. Brandon Hyde is a former White Sox farmhand. He managed in the Marlins farm system from 2005 to 2009. He became the Marlin's bench coach in 2010 and served as their interim manager in 2011. In 2012 Theo brought him over to the Cubs, where he was the farm director and the Director of Player Development, he served as Rick Renteria's bench coach and he is currently the Cub's first base coach under Joe Maddon. Rant Sports had this to say about Hyde, "Hyde is known as a great strategist and a true student of the game. In fact, one exec even went so far as to tell me, 'He can flat manage a game. If it had to go down to it, I would want him managing my Game 7.' Hyde is also known for maintaining great relationships with his players, and he has a successful background in developing young players, which could make him attractive to a team in rebuilding mode." Mentor Jack Mckeon had this to say about Hyde, "When I took the (manager's) job to finish (2011), I thought he'd have a chance to replace me... He was very-well prepared, very aggressive. He wasn't afraid to jump on somebody if they needed to be jumped on, which a lot of coaches don't want to do. But he was on top of the game. He was always keeping me sharp on what you want to do, in situations he was always ready for advice. He was ahead of the game." That's some pretty high praise. THis is someone who has worked their way up the ladder and despite being 41 years old, he has extensive experience in the dugout alongside of the modern greats and he comes from a player development background. These are just the first two guys that popped into my head. Who do you want the team to hire as their next manager? What kind of qualities do you want to next manager to have?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) From the rumors before, signing Guerrero alone would have busted their pool for this year. I'm not as high on him as most people are, I think he has maxed out frame.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) That is going to be interesting. With so many teams over, they aren't going to vote for penalties. I would assume there will be none. Exactly why 2016 is the year to break the bank. Its been said to be a stronger class too
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) 12 teams are not going to be able to sign a player for over 300K next year and the majority of those 12 teams are traditionally the biggest spenders. The Sox are in great shape for next year. So since the biggest spenders are out, that could translate to the top guys signing for less money when compared to the top guys this year.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) They aren't this year. They will be again next year and the year after. I would assume that the penalties are going to carry over to the international draft?
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:22 AM) I like the optimism, but that's not really the Sox's MO. I would be very surprised to see them all-in on the top guys. 12 teams are not going to be able to sign a player for over 300K next year and the majority of those 12 teams are traditionally the biggest spenders. The Sox are in great shape for next year.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) If that sets the market for Martinez, you can pretty much count the Sox out. That's not entirely a bad thing, it's possibly that the Sox have deal(s) in place with the top 2016 guys.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:11 AM) Bring them on in. Get all of the bodies you can. Now what really gets interesting is will the White Sox bust the pools to go for Cubans. Eddy Martinez is floating out there and would instantly be our #1 prospect if we signed him. There are a couple of others who could be key pieces as well. Alvarez signed with the Dodgers for $16M

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) Not Buddy Bell? Does Hahn really have time to jet down there? Did he when we signed Adolfo? KW? Can't remember.... Yep, he's done it every year he's been GM. That's probably why he didn't travel with the team, he was probably meeting with the families and finalizing the deals.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) According to industry sources, the White Sox agreed to an $825,000 signing bonus with shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., ranked No. 27 on MLB.com's Top 30 International Prospects list, and a $1.5 million bonus with outfielder Franklin Reyes, ranked No. 30. The club did not confirm the agreements. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/134...rnando-tatis-jr I guess we have to wait for the press release to get exact details.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) Per Jesse Sanchez, Sox have (so far) signed Franklin Reyes for $1.5M, and Fernando Tatis Jr for $700k. Reports on Future Sox coming soon. I think that they're going to announce more players today since they haven't issued a press release yet and I imagine that both Hahn and Paddy are in the DR and are going to introduce the players to the local media

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Lets grab Martinez or Guerrero Jr and I'll be happy. Edit: also, Dodgers sign Alvarez for $16 mill and a few others for around $2 mill. Were only slotted for $2 mill to spend. They have to figure out a way to fix this system. Guerrero Jr is not coming to the Sox, the Blue Jays had him locked up for a while.

Everyone should follow Jesse Sanchez on twitter to monitor the chaos. @JesseSanchezMlb

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) It seems like just a couple weeks ago his fan boys were telling me that his .350 OBP was a bit low for what he had in his future. Funny how BABIP works. It would be great if he put it together and I am fan of him but from a scouting point of you I've never seen the love the Sox FO has. I have never been high on him either, like you I don't see what the Sox see. And I don't consider him to be a core player, meaning that the Sox shouldn't be privy to exclude him from being mentioned in trade talks.

Lucius Fox isn't signing with the Dodgers as talks broke down, according to Kiley McDaniel and Jesse Sanchez. Both have him landing with the Giants for $6.5M according to McDaniel, which will put them in the red for the next 2 years. That's another team in the red for 2016 and most of the traditionally bigger spending teams are out. As of right now, the Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, DBacks, Rays, Cubs, Red Sox, Angels are non factors in 2016, and after July 2nd you can add the Phillies and the Blue Jays too. Keep an eye out on the Royals and the Twins as well.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 12:13 AM) What's the latest with Eddy Julio Ramirez? *Martinez Kiley McDaniel project him going to the Dodgers for 11M, while Jesse Sanchez said that the race is still open
