I believe that if the Sox are out of it at the deadline not only should they try to bring in some young talent into the system, but I believe that they should be hoping for the highest draft pick possible, that could do some serious wonders for the org. Let me say that I think the team should be in the mix for the division in 2016, but with another high draft pick and what not they could open and prolong their window. Theo Epstein always said that if your team is out of it after the deadline, you might as well hope for the highest draft pick possible.

Saw the first episode of True Detective new season, it's pretty good. I like the marketing campaign of the second season, almost non existent and is relying on word of from the fans of the first season instead of huge ad campaigns and whatnot. I signed an NDA last night from Hbo and WB so I can't really say much. If you're expecting an repeat of the first season, you're going to be disappointed. This is new ground and completely different. The story revolves around Satanism, not "I hate you dad, Im going to join a hardcore band" Santanism, but actual, hard core Santanism. If anyone had studied Santanism, you know that sex plays a huge part into the practice of the religion, think about the Manson stuff. My favorite character is Ani (Rachel McAdams) and her knives. Vince Vaughn is bad ass, he just has this aura about his performance. I thought it was pretty good and it is more up my ally compared to the first season, which I thought was great. I cant wait for the rest of the season.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) Doubt I'll see a better movie this year then Ex Machina. Don't consider it a summer movie though. Came out in April. Nvm you're correct, I saw it May, my mistake.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) Part of this is RV fault for allowing this s*** with Alexi too go on forever. Please explain?
-
Alexi has cost the team some runs with his poor play in the field

Damn

Jurassic World was fantastic easily the second best movie of the summer. Number 1 is EX MACHINA

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) I saw Entourage last night and I thought it was great. Storyline was whatever but it was funny and entertaining. My girlfriend who has never seen the show was very entertained. I saw it at a preview screening in April and it got a huge applause

I believe that Nunez, Alfaro and maybe Mercedes will be with the AZL team, if not they'll be on the DSL roster shortly. There was a conference call earlier in the year and Bell and Laumann spoke very highly of them, and remember Micker went straight to the AZL.

Good teams always find a way to win, maybe the Sox can pull thisbout -
Don't know where else to post this but I hated the Melky signing when the team announced it and I hate it more and more each day.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) f***ing Flowers. I'm not going to place any of the blame for the game getting out of hand on Flowers -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 11:33 PM) Mota is a full younger then any player we just picked in the entire 2015 draft. Of course he has a lot of growing to do. I never said he didnt, I'm just comparing him against Mateo at that point in his career

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 04:46 AM) Jonathan Gray (Rockies) hasn't exactly torn up the minor leagues...he was also from OU, if I remember correctly. What does that have to do with Hansen?

QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 07:11 PM) I like this Ricky Mota. Obviously about 3 years too early to even discuss him, but so far, so good in the DSL. You're right but lets give credit where it's due. He reminds me of Jorge Mateo of the Yankees (In my opinion their top prospect not named Aaron Judge), but I think Mota has some more growing to do.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) Depends on how desperate they are for cash, and how willing the White Sox are to give it up. We've never really made that type of move, that I can recall...but it would make sense if the Jays looked at it as adding Samardzija and being able to add 1-2 more pieces with the cash sent over by the Sox. Their attendance has been just so-so this year (also had high expectations going in like us), so you'd have to imagine they're not exactly rolling in the dough. What did Forbes say about their profits/losses over the last 2-3 seasons? That would be one area to look at. The Blue Jays never made never made that type of move before, that's why they have to make it, they're in the mix for Papelbon. They could win the division this not only this year but they have the brightest immediate future of of all the teams in the east and Shark would cement that. Plus they have some pitching depth in their system

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) Let's be real, most working class fathers would kill for 3 days off in a row to attend their daughter's graduation halfway across the country. Robin could have easily taken a travel day, a day for his daughter, and been back after 2 days. That he took 3 says something about something IMO. I agree, be there for your daughter, but 3 days? I mean, come on. With great privilege comes great responsibility. You have one of 30 MLB managing jobs, how about you act like it? Of course, he has a lifetime job so he could probably take a week off and nobody would mind. Oh well, I can't stand his managing Parent will probably do a better job. You're overreacting. Breathe, chill out and calm down

The Blue Jays want pitching, I would trade them Shark for Hoffman and cash straight up.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) Yes, but July 2nd guys are a crapshoot. Many of the guys that will get the largest bonuses will never advance beyond AA and an equal share of guys that sign for less than $250K will make the majors, there is just way to many variables in signing 15 and 16 year olds. Whereas the Cuban guys have quite a bit less volatility as they have performed for another 3-5 more seasons. They are the equivalent of the talent that is available in the draft, and while there is still a bust rate it is less so than that in the July 2 market. I would sacrifice signing some of those top guys in 2016 and 2017 if we can get the equivalent of 3 additional first round draft picks from Cuba in this class. While that's a sound philosophy, lets agree to disagree

I re-watching The Wire and wanted to see if there are any other people on here who are familar with the show. In my opinion is one of the greatest television shows off all time, in every aspect from the performances to the cinematography and especially the writing, (Showrunner David Simon wrote every epsiode). I love how each season dives into a different aspect of the 21st century American city (especially the inner cities) whether it's the war on drugs in post 9/11 America, the school system, the political machine or the media. I'm about to finish up season 1 today, and its even better on subsequent viewings. If you’re unfamiliar with The Wire, you need to check it out. "The King Stay The King."

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 11:13 PM) FWIW, over the past 2 seasons, his partial one last year and now this one, Avi's isoD is like .60 That's pretty good. He gets hit quite a bit and he takes just enough walks that combined with his high average (I think he'll always hit at least around 280, with some seasons up around 310) that's going to result in a OBP of around 350-380. Not bad. What about his TWTW

Its only 10 games gice or take but Ricky Mota is having a solid start in the DSL. I think Alfaro and Nunez will be up with the AZL team to start their careers
