This is from Eric Cross, formerly of Fantrax: “After the first game of a doubleheader on May 3rd, Greene was slashing .232/.292/.324 with a 31.7% strikeout rate and only four extra-base hits in 120 plate appearances. But since then, Greene has slashed .367/.433/.565 with 12 doubles, five home runs, and four steals in 164 plate appearances while dropping his strikeout rate to a more manageable 26.2%. For the season, Greene has improved his Quality of Contact metrics across the board and currently sits with a 10.2% barrel rate, 94.8 mph AVG EV, and 48.6% hard-hit rate. He also has a 78th percentile sprint speed and 90th percentile xBA.”

Not just this but look at the growth Riley Greene made this year

Keynan Middleton rips White Sox 'no rules' culture

This, this right here is exactly right. You would think a manager would covet the opportunity to be able to come in and clean up a culture and instill a new one but Grifol has proven to be incapable of that. The Sox need to cut bait, he’s awful in game. He doesn’t optimize the roster and he’s allowed for the culture to somehow get worse under his watch. Don’t even get home started on him salivating over Sal Perez. The dude is a clown. -
That’s true. It was a good signing but if they signed a superstar it would look a whole lot better.
-
Aren’t we rooting for Darryl Boston?!
-
Does Pedro do anything good? Are there examples of him optimizing the roster? In the extremely unlikely chance that there’s a FO change, whoever is in charge will hopefully be allowed to change managers but I understand if they wanted to see Pedro can do in 2024 before finding a new manager in 25

This should be a lesson that you don’t spend big money on RP. Unless you’re truly a CL/RP away from a title, it’s one of the worst uses of resources. The Sox were spending what like $35M+ on RP’s entering the season, that’s crazy.

Giolito & Reynaldo to LAA. Update: Angels put on waivers
Boopa1219 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think it can work. Tampa has made it to the World Series multiple times since 2005. There’s smart execs out there who could make it work, Hahn and KW aren’t those guys but I agree having Jerry as the owner makes it more difficult -

Rebuilding isn’t why the team is where they are. They are where they are because they failed to commit to the process. They didn’t sign a superstar when they had the opportunity to do so. Ownership didnt let the FO hire their manager and forced his friend in them. When they had high draft picks they took college DHs and a singles hitter, instead of guys who play premium positions. Instead of Madrigal and Vaughn, the Sox could’ve had Jared Kelenic in 2018, or Riley Greene, CJ Abrams, or Alek Manoah in 2019. They failed because they made bad decisions after they decided to rebuild. -

Everyone who’s on an expiring deal this season should be dealt. Not doing so is malpractice. -
Schultz struggling is good, it had to happen at some point. Now he can attempt to adjust.
-
He's cut down on the strikeouts significantly, it seems like he was primarily focused on swing decisions this year and you can see the progress in the numbers. I think the contact issues are a tad overblown but yeah, the other top college guys are all betting at making consistent hard contact.

Updated MLB Farm System Rankings After 2023 MLB Draft
Boopa1219 replied to The Kids Can Play's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Bottom 5-7 farm system for sure but it's not that bad when you look at it. We've seen some bad Sox farms and this isn't it. I think the farm lacks upside outside of Montgomery, Schultz and Wolkow. They need to inject for upside going forward. -
Why no to Honeycutt?

This guy can actually rake and play baseball

Board is going the Sox way so far

If the A’s take another Catcher

This is such a bad TV product. There’s no reason for this to be moving so slow when you can’t trade picks

It would be sick if they fired the Wake Forrest pitching coach for the same job but it might be a stop down for him.
