  2. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Mar 4, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) No worries on Danish. He's 20, has yet to pitch in AA ( though he will this year) and its early in ST. The only expectations I have of Danish at this point is to take the things he learns in ST with him to Birmingham when the season starts. Exactly
  3. I thought that Tyler Danish did pretty solid, he bounced back after the two walks to get a nice double play
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) I met him at SoxFest. Very nice guy and really just another version of Hahn in terms of background, the way he carries himself and even the way he dresses. This was only a matter of time and I am sure he'll be sought after by other organizations in time. I read that he's big into analytics, so could the sox be more inclined to use sabremetrics?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) Nothing linking White Sox to one of the top guys http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/july-2nd-pl...ing-into-focus/ Beat me to it. Im sure the Sox have some deals in place, maybe he responds to my comment. Also the Sox can trade for an additional, $1,721,500 in bonus allotment, whcih would bring their total to $5,164,500.
  6. What does this mean for Buddy Bell?
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) Like Rob did with second base, we now take a look at the 5-player field for backup catcher: Soto, Brantly, Kottaras, Nieto and Smith. Who does SoxTalk think wins the job? Probably more to the point, who is most likely if for some reason it isn't Soto? Im rooting for Brantly and Kottaras. It would be beneficial to have another left handed bat on the bench.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 1, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) Position players that impressed me OF Vlad Guerrero Jr, OF Franklin Reyes, SS Aramis Ademan, and OF Starling Heredia. I liked: Aramis Ademan - Really nice swing from the left side. Seuly Matias - Bat speed Carlos Vargas Sterling Heredia - Kiley McDaniel has raved about him, I think hes attached to the Cubs. Gergory Guerro - I have seen a lot of video on him.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 1, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) This is great stuff, thanks! By the way, you could about double that by adding in videos from our YT channel. We've got video on many of those same ones, but also a few dozen more that you don't have there. I didn't realize that. I'll add them in.
  10. This is another playlist that I made that contains video of all White Sox prospects. This playlist contains video of players acquired by the draft and through international free agency. I will keep on adding to this playlist.
  11. I'm putting this playlist together, most of it comes from Fangraph's Youtube account and I am going to add some from Matt Hall's baseball account as well. I am pretty interested in international prospects and that whole side of baseball operations, lets hope the Sox put together another good July 2nd signed period.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) Yadier Alvarez. The next Yordano Ventura. He should be in for a big bonus too
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) I don't think anybody is even giving you that for John Danks. The Cubs got Tommy La Stella. Tommy La Stella is a cheap, average-ish player. You still have to give something of value to get that value, and I'm just not sure we see that with Danks. The Cubs got a lot of INTL cap space for Scott Feldman thats how they were able to sign Torres in 2013. Obviously Danks has to pitch well, and the Sox might have to pay some of his remaining salary. I think getting a player like Vlad Jr into the system is worth it.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) He would probably cost our entire pool, by himself. Maybe more. The Sox could trade for more cap space before July 2nd. Let's say Rodon, who I think should start the year at AAA, pitches his way into the rotation, then a guy like John Danks becomes expendable and for him you could get multiple INTL bonus pool slots for him.
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 12:01 AM) Simply naming the guys he signed isn't much of an argument. What are you basing all of the success off of? I said those are guys that have come stateside. 5 LA guys to come stateside that quickly considering that there are a lot of guys who repeat the DSl for 4 or 5 years and most of the guys never come stateside, is pretty good. The 5 guys thst I mentioned have come stateside in a rather quick fashion, 1-2 years and dont forget Micker came straight to the states which is rare too.
  16. QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) I'd be curious to see this argument. That's incredibly hard to quantify at this point and even down the line there's plenty of variables to account for. Victor Done, Luis Martinez, Antonio Rodriguez, Micker Adolfo, Johan Cruz are just some of the guys that Paddy has signed, those are the guys that have come stateside so far. Probably 2 or 3 more will make the jump this year. To my knowledge, very few teams not named the Yankees or the Cubs, are having that kind of success from 2011/12 to 2014. Paddy has signed some solid prospects in his short time with the Sox. There is some real talent on the DSL team.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) Ben Badler ‏@BenBadler 15m15 minutes ago Sounds like the Yankees workout will be the last private workout for Yoan Moncada. Expectation among people involved is he signs next week. After their evisceration of the CBA in regards to their INTL, this deal should not be allowed to go through.
  18. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) I agree but I would prefer if the Sox did what they did last year and spread their money around and sign a group of solid prospects and not just 1 player, like the Brewers and Rays did last year. Maybe the Sox can make a deal(s) for more INTL cap space. Since they don't have the draft picks, they need a big year in LA. I will add this, since Marco Paddy came aboard in 2011 the White Sox INTL/LA Operation has been among the best in MLB. The Sox have singed some intriguing, quality players. And we're only starting to see some of those guys make their way stateside.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) Vlad Jr would be a great get. I agree but I would prefer if the Sox did what they did last year and spread their money around and sign a group of solid prospects and not just 1 player, like the Brewers and Rays did last year. Maybe the Sox can make a deal(s) for more INTL cap space. Since they don't have the draft picks, they need a big year in LA.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 12:21 PM) That tweet is getting my hopes up now. I really want VGJR now. How does he project? Since Vlad is the #1 overall prospect in this year's July 2 period, so he'll comment a high bonus probably close to $3,000,000, maybe even $3,500,000. As a player he as has huge power potential and projects to be a huge run producer who can anchor the middle of our order. He might be on the 'built side of things' as he is 6'2 and 220lbs, but I think that he could slim down as he isn't done growing. He probably plays RF or 1B in the pros and I would rate his power tool as a legit 80.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 18, 2015 -> 06:32 AM) No, he'll keep 26. If he were going to change, Crain would have gone back to 26. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/roste...an.jsp?c_id=cws http://mlb.mlb.com/team/roster_nri.jsp?c_id=cws I find it funny that changing a uniform number is listed in the official transactions. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/trans...amp;team_id=145 Too bad Quintana got stuck with 62 when he did. Terrible number. Didn't he wear 24 in the minors to honor Miggy?
  22. Really wish the Sox drafted Giolito over Hawkins in 2012, I know that Venturav wanted him after coaching him in high school.
  23. I expect Avi will change to number 24 (Thank God).
  24. QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) It is in MLB's and the commissioner's best interest to get the international draft started. I think our team has been operating within the constraints of what is deemed acceptable by the commissioner for some time and it has only been a detriment to the team. I sure hope the MLB levels the playing field internationally so JR can take the leash off of his executives who would prefer not to play ball on his behalf. I am opposed to an international draft but I do want stricter rules when it comes to spending money and harsher penalties when those rules are broken. It shouldn't be allowed that a team can just have the INTL that the Yankees did.
