  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) Refresh my memory on Nate, isn't he supposed to be out some of this upcoming season? What's his deal again? He may be out the first half coming back from TJ. When was his operation, again?
  2. CL - Robertson SU - Petricka SU - Duke (L) MR - Garcia (L) *9.9K/9IP in MiLB MR - Webb MR - Cleto LR - Rienzo The Sox are attached to Luke Gregerson, who's a Chicago native.
  3. Should the Sox go after Syndergaard, after acquiring Shark and Robertson because it looks like the team is looking to compete? Remember that Shark is going to test FA and if that happens then he might be out of the Sox's price range. Syndergaard gives them a long term piece to add to the core. He is a flamethrower and a presence on the mound with more than a feel to pitch. Do you engage in trade talks with the Mets?
  4. I think that one of the biggest reasons that contributed to the Sox horrible bullpen, was the fact that everyone was pitching in roles that they were not suited for. A big reason for that was that Nate Jones, who was supposed to be the closer, was lost to TJ. I think that it's best to build a bullpen from the back going forward, knowing who your closer is going to be. So I ask you who is going to fill what role in the bullpen?
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 12:08 AM) Someone may have already mentioned this, but the Sox surrender their 2nd RD pick for Robertson, which means they may be more inclined to go after another guy with a pick attached. Maybe some Melky action? They did in Shark, who in the event that he doesn't resign with the Sox, the team will get an extra pick, assuming the team gives him a QO.
  6. Danks is going to have a good year this year. I would try trading him at the break.

  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 07:13 PM) There, I said it. He's a perfect fit for our LF vacancy, and we still need a left handed bat, and he's still got two-years of control pre-free agency. I feel like we could get him without touching the top tier of our prospects. I would give Montas for him if I had to, though I'd try to aim lower. Anyone think there's any chance we're the #mysteryteam? http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...;position=1B/OF You're going to give up one of the top pitching prospects in the system who projects as both a solid starter and closer for a stop gap LF? That's a bad move.
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 08:31 AM) and oak made it to the playoff. but with that, oak always seems to flip their players. the sox have a great core to build from, JR need to spend a little more. again, i am not talking Bos, Yanks, or even Dodgers salary. They do because they can no longer afford them, if Oakland had a bigger payroll with Beane as their GM they would be able to keep said players. Yet it's amazing that every year with a payroll around $38-$45m that they're consistently on the better teams and one of best organizations in baseball.
  11. Does Brandon Moss make sense? Put him in LF, bats left but he's more than a power hitter than a contact guy.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 05:32 PM) That's a pitiful payroll for a large market team. If that's correct and if it's mandated, it finally makes sense why the Sox would even entertain trading scarce prospects for 1 year players in areas of secondary need (although I still wouldn't do it). What's wrong with a $92M payroll. You don't have to shell out a large payroll to put a good team on the field, look at the Oakland, Tampa Bay and Kansas City.
  13. What prospects would be off limits to Oakland in trade talks concerning Smardjiza. Personally, I wouldn't trade or offer any of the top prospects (Guys like Anderson, Montas, Danish, Adolfo, and Martinez (All the 2014 guys aren't eligible to be traded yet if I remember correctly.)) and I would let Oakland pick two mid level guys. Preferably I would give them Micah Johnson, Chris Beck and I would cover some of Billy Butler's 2015 salary.
  14. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 02:13 AM) Why would they want Anderson if they have their top prospect of a SS who is going to be ready to come up around the same time as Anderson. Anderson is a lot to give up for a 1 year rental PLUS other prospects? No thanks. The A's can keep their 3rd starter who will get paid Ace money in 1 year. I'll make a call to Cinci about thee starters or sign Masterson. I would trade Micah Johnson, Chris Beck and cash. I honk that's fair for a one year rental presumably.
  15. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 01:38 AM) It would suck giving up Anderson. But, with that said, most of our prospects traded for proven pitchers (the past decade or so) didn't amount to much of anything outside of Gio Gonzalez IIRC. This is not a smart school of thought. That's has nothing to do with how good the prospects were, and a lot of that is on the teams that traded for them and how they developed them.
  16. As much as I would love to get Samardjiza, I don't think the Sox can afford him and they are in no position to start trading away their prospects anyway.
  17. So a new Star Wars trailer came out today. And no to Jay Bruce, if I want anyone from the Reds it's Joey Cueto.
  18. Hope this is true, if he has a good first half with the Sox he could be traded for some good prospects. The move makes a lot if sense.
  19. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:39 PM) It does not seem to be too far out there of an idea as it appears it could be a match. Boston needs starting pitching and has a surplus of outfielders while the Sox would like to trade Danks and need an outfielder or two. Boston and Chicago have made trades in recent years so who knows? Yeah, sobriety and middle age is catching up to me quicker than I thought. I am not a fan of that trade per as, but I think that the Sox should look into trading Danks at the deadline, I think that Danks is gonna have a strong year in 2015, and he could be valuable to some teams (Yankees come to mind) at the deadline.
  20. QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) If all he's on is a minor league contract then it wouldn't be the worst thing to have him down in AAA. Maybe some time in the minors to build confidence could be a good thing. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) at a very low salary, an invite, no guarantees, but i will still try to fill his position with another pitcher. a strong maybe. I think that if he's invited to spring training and performs very well and worthy of a spot in the bull pen then you have to give it to him. I think that there is some potential there in Belisario, he could be a good weapon to have in the pen. If he starts the season in AAA, then he could work on some things and build up some confidence like 787 said. I think Belisario could be a good 7th inning guy, if all things work out.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:08 PM) Hopefully he still has to get non-tendered next week. Not sure if that's how it works now that he's off the 40-man. Anyway, be on your way. I wouldn't mind seeing BelisaRio back as a spring training invite, he was pitching a role he wasn't used to out of the bullpen and he had a lot of bad luck.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Or you could just give money, acquire a slightly inferior player in Asdrubal Cabrera or Stephen Drew, and keep your prospect of the future. The Dodgers are in win now mode. Inthinkbthwy can part with a prospect if it helps them go over the hump in the postseason. Alexi helps them in that regard.
  23. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 01:24 PM) If Corey Seagar is involved in this deal, I would be thrilled! That would be a huge coup for the Sox. He'd have our third baseman of the future.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) Let me ask you this... What pieces could the Cubs give you that you would accept for Sale? Bryant, Russel/Almora, McKinney and a Dylan Cease. I have a question for everyone, when do you think the Sox window for contention opens? I would say 2016.
  25. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 22, 2014 -> 02:10 AM) I think it's more of a let's be competitive now move. From a different angle it actually allows the Sox to trade Alexei, keep building, while still fielding a decent team. As they know, this 63 and 73 win stuff is unacceptable to Sox fans, rebuilding or not. I agree, trading Alexi would make sense depending on the package of prospects the Sox got back. Remember the team does have options that can fill in at short till a guy like Tim Anderson is ready. Alexi trade could bring in ML ready prospects that fill positions of need for Sox.
