  1. Not a fan of the idea of an international draft, I think that there is nothing wrong with the system that is in place.
  2. Good haul for the White Sox this year, who are becoming major players international market thanks to Marco Paddy and his staff of scouts in Latin America, which is one of the moves that I think brought the team into the 21st century in terms of player development side of things. The team spread their money around and signed 4 players with high ceilings which brings more talent to the farm and they still have close to a million dollars left to spend. Yeah I would love to see the Sox splurge on guys like Micker Adolfo or Gilber Lara (Who went for $3.1 Million with the Brewers and who I believe to have been the best player available.) every year, but I liked that they were able to spread their money out and bring in a group of solid players instead of bringing in one elite player and a bunch of lower level prospects and they're probably going to sign a couple of those low tier guys with that remaining $923,000. Very good haul this year, and the future of the team continues to look brighter.
  3. I think Robin has done a terrific job as manager and that the futility of the team makes him look worse than he is as a manager, which makes him under rated in my opinion. The White Sox are going through a rebuilding phase and I think Robin is the right manager to guide the team through it, and I think he'll be the manager when the team is ready to compete.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 07:25 PM) There will be an international draft in the not too distant future, but until then we'll have to suffer through high revenue teams like the Yankees playing the system unfortunately. It completely makes sense why the Yankees are doing this, just sucks that they're doing it for the first time when we have a huge bonus allotment. An international draft is a terrible idea. I love how success is determined in the INTL by who can scout talent better, I believe that Starlin Castro was signed for $ 50,000. He was an under the radar prospect that the Cubs found and developed into a superstar. An international draft would completely kill that competitive nature in my opinon.
  5. QUOTE (shoeless_joe21 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 10:29 PM) Adolfo wastes no time in proving he's embraced the organization's hitting philosophy by striking out in his first AB. He also walked.
  6. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) The Yankees pretty much want to sign all of the best guys this period, and will just have a down signing period the following year. They will be capped on what they can offer international prospects next year I believe. I'm at work and not able to do the research, but it's something like they can't offer a prospect more than $200,000. The Cubs have stipulations like that this signing period because of their overages last year. You're right, I just wish the punishment was more severe.
  7. If the Yankees want to spend over budget go ahead, but I hope they get the most severe punishment to send a message.
  8. Trade Gordon while he's still hot at the plate. Nice hit against Verlander though, even better because it's front of Kate Upton. I was thinking of who some trade partner could be and I thought of San Francisco, Toronto, Baltimore and maybe the Dodgers who can trade for Gordon and move Dee Gordon to SS and Hanley at 3B.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 10:44 PM) That's one of the worst lists I've seen. How Davidson, Sanchez, Montas, Ravelo, Trey isn't on that list is bad. I honestly forgot that Davidson existed I'll put him at 6 and remove Johnson and I am not big on Sanchez. Montas would be 10, although I am not familiar with him at all.
  10. 1. Rodon 2. Adams 3. Danish 4. Hawkins 5. Anderson 6. Johnson 7. Beck 8. Adolfo 9. Castillo 10. May I went with two wild cards at 8 and 9 but not without solid reasoning. I think that Micker will be a top 5 prospect maybe even top three when the season is over. I like his ceiling too much and he has elite power and bat speed according to the scouting reports and I like that combo too much. With Castillo when the Sox signed him in 2012, the word on the street was that he had a advanced feel for hitting and power, I can not wait to see him play for the AZL team this year. Adams is very projectable and I think that he will add more velocity and develop into a solid front of the rotation starter for the Sox down the line. The same goes for Danish who had a solid outing the Sox this week.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 02:33 PM) Round 6 White Sox select CF Louie Lechich San Diego Is it just me or is it apparent that the Sox are just drafting college players who will sign below slot, so they can have more to spend on Rodon and Adams?
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 02:18 PM) I feel like 'JJ's have high MLB success. He was ahead of Reetz at some publications
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) To me, they didn't like any real players at 4, so they took best bat available as a trade chip. Schwarber will probably be good, but he'll likely be a really good trade chip too (though he may eat himself into a DH position). But the rest of the draft has been bizarre. I would have imagined a bunch of lottery tickets but this just looks like saving money on the draft this year. If I were Theo I would have drafted Jeff Hoffman and sign under slot and draft best pitcher on the board for the next four rounds, giving me some much needed pitching depth.
  14. Lets hope some of these guys fall to the Sox: Keith Weisenberg - RHP Micheal Cantu - 1B/C/3B JJ Schwarz - C Bryce Montes de Oca - RHP David Peterson - LHP Kel Johnson - OF
  15. That is a great pick by the Sox with Spencer Adams, who should have been a first round pick in my opinion. He projects to be a front of the rotation guy and he can be something special with his plus stuff.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) Never enough catcher depth, especially when they develop terribly slowly. The Sox drafted 3 catchers in 2012, none of which have amounted to anything
  17. I was praying to God, Tom Cruise and Oprah that Gatewood would fall to the Sox. Hoping for Jackson Reetz
  18. I really wanted Forrest Wall to the Sox, good pick by the Rockies
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 08:47 PM) He's going to be a top 30 guy in all of the minors probably, so yeah, doubt it's even close. Yeah after this draft and the international signing period the Sox have a strong chance of easily having a 15 farm system, maybe even top ten.
  20. We all agree that Rodon is the top prospect in the system, assuming that he signs?
  21. NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo In all seriousness let's hope the team can sign Rodon at something reasonable and I wish him the best in his career and the he can reach the majors quickly.
  22. Where was Jackson compared to Konerko?
  23. If I am Rick Hahn and both Kolek and Aiken are off the board, I would draft Alex Jackson over Carlos Rodon.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 28, 2014 -> 05:36 PM) Yankees could eat the rest of Dunn's salary in a deal as well. Adding him could make a lot of sense for both clubs as the Yankees could use Dunn as well. In any deal that the Sox make with the Yankees, I want Gary Sanchez back.
