  1. There needs to be a significant retooling of the ML roster. Lots of money tied to bad players. Kelly, Diekman, Leury and Pollock represent $28M on the books or roughly the cost of one Manny Machado. Abreu can’t come back, him leaving the team would do wonders for the roster’s makeup. Eloy can DH, Vaughn can play 1B full time and you get sign actual OFs. It’s going to take a lot of work but no need to rebuild, yet.
  2. If TLR is forced to vacate the position, and if the Sox continue to play well under Cairo, they still need to have a full and expansive search for the next manager. If Cairo is the guy, then they should still interview people to gain all the information and ideas they can about the game and about their own team.
  3. It would be funny if the Sox do decide to totally clean house because they finally have good scouting and player development staffs.
  4. I totally agree. And they should be working on a Vaughn extension right now. He’s going to be special for a long time. And letting Abreu walk solves a lot of issues defensively.
  5. This team looks fucking dead whenever they take the field. They're so lifeless and joyless. A complete 180 from the past few years. This season has been really hard to watch. In addition to being lifeless, they play horrible baseball and it offends my sensibilities when I catch them on TV or at the park as someone who loves the game. While the roster needs to a shake up, nothing matters if Sleepy Tony is at the helm calling the shots. **************** If the stuff about the purge is true, every coach besides Katz and Hasler needs to be gone. Boston, McEwing, especially. No many years of bad infield and outfield defense do we need to see? I hope the next coaching staff of the Sox is filled with coaches who have extensive experience in player development, that being said Justin Jirschle should be on that staff.
  6. I think this is a bad list. Too low on Sosa and Mena. Kath is a top 20 guy for me still too.
  7. Thompson isn't a Shirley pick but Kelly, who is, is doing something to ease my concerns as of late but I still think he's been disappointing overall. That being said, the minor league pitching development team/system needs to carry its weight.
  8. The Brewers just DFA’d these guys. They’re on waivers right now. I think both of these guys would be great depth additions for the Sox ML team.
  9. If the Sox sell, they could fix a lot of these issues
  10. Abreu, Cueto, and Harrison should all be available, at the very least.
  11. I remember Kevin Goldstein saying on Twitter that it takes 3/4 years to really build a farm system. Excluding the 2020 draft because it was so short, the Sox, Mike Shirley and Marco Paddy are 2 years into this process. They’ve come out with Colson Montgomery, Oscar Colas, Sean Burke, Norge Vera, Wes Kath, Tanner McDougal, Erick Hernandez, Noah Schultz, Payton Pallette, and Jonathan Cannon amongst others. This still might be a bottom 5 farm system but it’s very, very intriguing. I think the Sox are in good hands with Shirley and his penchant for upside. I’m predicting that they’ll have a top 20 pick in next year’s draft and that will be a huge boost to the farm as well.
  12. I said this in this thread and I’ll say it again but I wouldn’t be too upset if the Sox pulled a Giants/Angels and drafted all pitchers. I wouldn’t like it but I would understand it.
  13. What is Preliepp's velocity looking like? The one thing that worries me, if he is the Sox pick, is that this could be another Crochet situation because he doesn't have the innings base and track record of being a starting pitcher. Only 7 starts and 28 IP at Bama.
  14. I would consider myself a Hahn supporter but the Sox had very clear needs going into this past offseason. They needed to reinforce the starting rotation, they needed to get more left handed, they needed to be better defensively and they had to add OBP guys on the roster. They did none of those things
  15. The core is good enough but the supporting cast is piss poor. If you’re trying to win a World Series and this is your competitive window to do so, then why are you rostering Leury Garcia and Josh Harrison? If you’re trying to win a title, then how come team wide fundamentals (defense and base running) have been allowed to get worse year, after year? Why do Joe McEwing and Daryl Boston have jobs? And why do you have a manager who refuses to optimize the talent on the roster? I have full faith in the core (Anderson, Vaughn, Robert, Cease, Giolito, Kopech, Hendriks, and Eloy) while it may need some adjustments, I have no faith in the pieces around them.
  16. Milwaukee and Washington have worse systems imo. So they’re not the worst anymore.
  17. Absolutely, they need to change the hitting program at the ML level. They should look to hire someone from NYY or SFG to increase LA and increase walk rates.
  18. Why does Daryl Boston have a job?
