  1. Today, Id rather have Kelenic than Madrigal. Id rather have Grayson Rodriguez today than Madrigal. I’d rather have Gilbert too.
  2. Now, I’m worried. I was hoping the Sox would sign him.
  3. The Madrigal draft pick is one of the biggest set backs of the rebuild. I never liked the pick, I recognize him as the best college hitter and him having a high floor but when you’re in a draft and when you have a TOP FIVE pick you need to draft a superstar, not a singles hitter. They could’ve had Jarred Kelenic
  4. I’m glad the Sox didn’t get this done. 7 years?! I’m my opinion, they’re right not to sign him.
  5. Surprised they haven’t locked up their back C yet with that particular market being so thin and bad. Hoping for either Yan Gomes or Roberto Perez.
  6. Anyone who is refusing to be vaccinated is an idiot. Being 100% vaxxed as a team is a competitive advantage.
  7. The only lefties in the pen are Bummer and Crochet. I’d like the team to sign one as a NRI.
  8. This is a very, very smart move. He’s an extreme ground all pitcher, so he plays at GRF. He has experience as a closer and in high leverage situations and he was a starter so he might be able to go for a couple innings every once in a while. And he’s only 30.
  9. I know the Sox really liked Mick Abel in his draft year. That's a name to watch here.
  10. I think this is the route to go, even if you have to eat $4M/25% of the salary. The Sox are going to be drafting pretty low for a while, this is a good opportunity to get some good, young talent into the system so you can have reinforcements in 2024/2025 and keep the window of contention open. Player development is even more important now than it was earlier in the rebuild.
  11. I wonder if the Sox were to trade Kimbrel to the Angels if they can get Sam Bachman in return. He's who the Angels took in this past draft in the first round.
  12. How long would you go on a Semien deal? If he's 31 going into the next season, I'd go 5 years with a high AAV
  13. I’m of the opinion the the Sox need to sign a starter and an “innings eater”, someone who can stretch the rotation and allow the team to skip Kopech from time to time, especially early in the season. Pitching is a big need, starters and the pen.
  14. Glad Verlander isn’t on the Sox. I think using $25M for a pitcher who’s almost 40 and coming off TJS is a bad use of resources if it’s a good sign for Jerry opening the checkbook.
  15. Hoping the Sox can get Conforto locked up before Thanksgiving
  16. Covid is a new disease. There’s not enough data and information out there on how it changes someone’s body but people who had severe cases, have experienced side effects lasting weeks, months and a year. It’s not an excuse, he had a severe case of a dangerous virus. It’s very likely and possible that the reason he’s not hitting the ball as hard is that Covid could’ve zapped a lot of his strength.
  17. Im curiously excited to see what Moncada looks like another year away from Covid
  18. Hopefully they’re talking about Conforto too.
  19. Would you guys rather the Sox trade Kimbrel for prospects who can help the team down the line or major league piece(s) that can help the team now?
  20. I don’t get the decision not to extend the QO to Rodon. It’s a bad sign for the off-season, it shows us that Jerry still isn’t willing to spend like an owner of a major market team. The only acceptable answer is that they think Rodon is physically toast and don’t want to risk wasting $18M on someone who’s at the end of their rope physically. With Kopech going back into the rotation, pitching is now the biggest need alongside 2B in my opinion. They need to find guy who can eat innings, and quality innings at that. Delfascanti is a dude I like for the Sox.
  21. I dont have Scherzer as one of the best FA, I'd be worried if my favorite team signed him to a deal as a premiere addition. He's 37 and there's a lot of mileage to that arm.
  22. It's not good from a Sox perspective. I don't think they need a SS. Freeman, Gausman, Bryant and Stroman probably stay put. Are there any quality second baseman on the market? It doesn't look like it. (I imagine Semien moves back to SS if he leaves Toronto)
  23. The FA pool isn’t very good. Its looking like the Sox have to go the trade route if they want to make some serious acquisitions.
  24. When the Sox pay up for free agents, they typically perform as expected. Their problem has been when they try to take fliers and find “bargains”. I don’t think that was a Hahn problem, I think that had a lot to do with the Sox pro scouting, which for a long period of time was horrendous. They seemed to have gotten better in that department since Nick Hostetler has taken over that post.
