A must read article by Ta-Neshi Coates of the Atlantic (he also just ended his run on Black Panther for Marvel). https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2014/06/the-case-for-reparations/361631/

You don’t have to thank me. I hope I was able to get some people to look outside themselves and see how the world treats minorities, especially black men and women. As a black person it’s frustrating that I have to do this so often. There’s someone from the forum who I talked to this this weekend and confronted because their immediate reaction to the protesting wasn’t the murder and brutality by the police but the property damage that happened in the city. I tried telling this person that there’s opportunist that are hijacking the movement to loot and steal but they kept blaming BLM and the protestors. I’m ashamed of myself for continuing to engage that person but a lost cause is a lost cause and I won’t make that mistake again. I hope that person gets that upset every time an innocent person of color is killed by the police but who am I kidding. If you want help out what’s going on, check out this link which will put you in contact with petitions and funding campaigns for some of black people who have recently been killed at the hands of police officers. Here’s the link: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/ While all this talk surrounding the MURDER of George Floyd is happening, we can’t get forget the MURDER of Breonna Taylor. She was an EMT and she was murdered by three police officers who busted the wrong residence. The police officers are still on the force at this moment in Louisville. Her donation fund is here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/9v4q2-justice-for-breonna-taylor I’ve been on the ground a lot the past five or six days doing what I can to help out the cause and to help other people across the city by doing supply runs and offering up shelter. This is the beginning of something and I’m proud to be a part of it.

These are 8 steps I’d like to see taken but that’s just the first step, there’s more to be done. I’ve seen s lot if videos of cops doing this online but not on TV or other news outlets.

I can’t feel if you’re being facetious but yes, not just in Minneapolis but nationwide, worldwide.

There’s a dying lemon tree at my family’s house, it still sprouts a few good lemons every once in a while but because it’s a dying tree most of the lemons turn out to be shit. There needs to be a complete overhaul of the system, from the ground up.

Get the fuck out of here with that nonsense. You're right that there’s people out there who are looking for a paycheck but a good police officer shouldn’t have anything to worry about and should welcome their day in court, you know that due process a lot of unarmed black people are denied because they’re killed by police officers. I said it earlier in this thread, black people have been protesting peacefully for years and no real progress have been made. The only certainty when black people protest peacefully is that white talking heads/general public is going to accuse them of being disrespectful being over dramatic. If that didn’t work, what else is there to do? What will it take for real progress to be made? What will it take for black people’s lives to be valued? *Again, a lot of the violence and rioting has been caused by opportunist but if another black person told me they were going to riot to get their point across, I would totally understand them because the other way has only accomplished so much.

That too. He should’ve been dropped after the first one, he should’ve never been out on the street.

They need to examine their relationship, they knew each other. I believe this was premeditated.

I get that you’re south side Irish and this may be a hard concept to grasp but the police officers are the people who are escalating these situations. They’re the ones who are going to violence first. If the police were focused on protecting protestors, then a lot of the looting wouldn’t be happening. Yeah there’s opportunist using what’s going on to steal and incite violence but the police are doing nothing to stop that problem. I also think the people who have been shooting at the police are not members of the protest but opportunist, who are using the protest as a shield in order to loot and cause harm. I know there was violence on the south side last night where Latin Kings just brutalized every black person they came across and the police just stood by. I know in LA last night police officers blocked people’s ability to use their phones and take videos of what they were doing. Police officers have been breaking into the homes of people who have been shielding protestors and arresting people. The police are meant to protect and serve communities, to protect people’s constitutional rights. The police are not another branch of the military, the police have been violating people’s constitutional rights. Let’s not forget to mention the hundreds of years of police terrorizing black and brown people. I didn’t say abolish the police but they need to be defunded/have their spending drastically cut and demilitarized and those dollars should go back into the communities and the people in them. I was talking to a white friend of mine about change we wanted to see. I’ll ask you what I asked him, how much change do you expect to see in a nation that was built on white supremacy? There’s needs to be a complete overhaul of the country and the system. America was dying and it’s been dealt a death blow. What’s happening now is scary for a lot of people, hopefully the new country that comes out of this is better for everyone.

They have to defund the police and redistribute that money into the most economically devastated communities. I'm glad to see all these organizations in Minnesota end their contracts with the police department.

You won’t see this on TV:

An Info Wars crew burned down a homeless man's belongings in Austin last night. They've been spreading the video around social media platforms, saying that it is BLM members in an effort to demonize the protestors. Make sure you get the full story of what happens in any video before you come to any conclusion.

Some footage I shot of the protest last night that made it to CNN. The big one they used was of a cop car on fire. I was there protesting from 4pm to 2am. Everyone was peaceful until some of the police started getting aggressive and when people from outside the protest started to loot. It’s important to separate the looters from the people who were down there protesting peacefully. As a black person we’re expected to just swallow it every time an unarmed black person is killed, especially by the police. And everytime we do protest peacefully, we’re told we’re going too far and are vilified. People are fed up with being gunned down in the streets. People are fed up with police officers not being held accountable for their actions. If there are people out there who truly feel that the only way they can get their voices heard is by rioting, we have to ask ourselves what brought us to this point. I saw people looting grocery stores and pharmacies last night because they‘re hungry, because they don’t have access to health care and because they’re out of work/the government hasn’t provided for them since the pandemic started. The system has failed these people and it has to be addressed.

It’s a whole chain.

You always take the BPA but I think the Sox biggest needs are (in no particular order) athletes, up the middle players (especially catchers), and starting pitching depth.
-
Soderstrom and Shuster would be a great haul.
-
Hoping for Meyers or Soderstrom. The Bailey pick wouldn’t upset me but I’d rather have Dingler
-
I might like Dillon Dingler better than Patrick Bailey.
-
Heard he’s been looked at in the first round proper for a team in the early 20’s.
-
I’m really hoping for Soderstrom because of the hit tool but if the Sox draft him, I hope they immediately have him in the OF or at 3B. Detmers has been my preference for a while as he can help the current core out and it also fits a need as the Sox need pitching depth. I also wouldn’t be mad at Bailey, who looks to have a really high floor.
-
Yeah that mock.
-
Has anyone heard anything about the Sox and Tyler Soderstrom?
