  1. I would agree with Tim batting sixth in the order as of right now. I think there’s more power in him to be untapped.
  2. https://venomstrikes.com/2015/01/05/optimizing-batting-order-teams-can-score-runs/ https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2009/3/17/795946/optimizing-your-lineup-by
  3. Guys I’m watching for the 11th pick: Cole Wilcox (6’5/220) - RH SP - Georgia Ed Howard - (6’2-185) - SS - Mt. Carmel JT Ginn (6’2/200) - RH SP - Mississippi St Patrick Bailey (6’2/192) - C - NC State Robert Hassell (6’2-185) - CF - Prep
  4. Batting Moncada third is a waste. The third hitter gets a lot of at bats with no one on base.
  5. I’ve put the Sox players into lineup optimizers that I could find online. I’ve ran simulations with just internal options and I’ve ran simulations with guys like Martínez, Grandal, Nimmo, and Dickerson added. One thing is consistent in all the best possible lineups for the Sox regardless of who’s in the lineup, Madrigal is batting ninth. Madrigal isn’t a run producer, so he shouldn’t be batting in top of the order. I’d rather make sure guys like Moncada and Robert get more PAs than Madrigal. I think batting him ninth allows him to be another table setter and give guys like Robert and Moncada more RBI opportunities.
  6. I couldn’t agree more. Robert fits the profile of the new lead off man perfectly. His speed and power combo is something I’d like to see at the top of the lineup. 9. Madrigal 1. Robert 2. Moncada
  7. I think he gets signed to an extension this spring training. He’s going to be a good player for the Sox for a long time with his glove and his ability to make contact. I know some people here see him as a leadoff hitter but to me, he’s the ideal nine hitter (second lead off man).
  8. I hope the Sox here John Malle to be the assistant or hire him to run the hitting program in the farm.
  9. Why would the Sox even entertain the idea of trading Moncada? Has to be one of the most assets in the game.
  10. Lisle wasn’t making much of a impact as he was bouncing from affiliate to affiliate. Was firing him the way to go now, they should’ve given him a stable post. I wouldn’t be mad if they hired Frank Menechino. He seems to be able to tap into guys’ power.
  11. I’d pull him. I know it’s the last game but I wouldn’t risk it.
  12. I think abandoning teachers is the wrong way to go. They need guys at every position on the coaching staff who excel at player development to help get the most out of the guys on the roster. I know they’re close to having their window fully open as they head towards contention but they can not afford to put player development on the back burner when teams like the Dodgers and Astros emphasize it.
  13. I expect Steverson and Sparks to be gone but wouldn’t be surprised if Steverson stays with the org as a roving instructor of some sorts, he could be valuable in that role.
  14. Based on the improvements that Anderson and Moncada made, maybe there’s still a place in the org for them.
  15. I don’t expect Severson or Sparks to be back with the ML team.
  16. A good thing about all the young guys (who matter) playing well is that it makes the team a much more desirable FA destination. It still comes down to the money though
  17. Good move by the Sox. I’ve ever seen someone make a turn around like Giolito did this year in any sport. I hope the Sox really explore locking him up long term And yeah, I’d shut down Cease as well. He’s around 125+ IP for the year. He had 124 IP last year.
  18. Relievers are so volatile, you never know what you’re going to get year to year.
  19. Instead of letting him out the door, why not assign him to Winston Salem or Charlotte?
  20. I wouldn’t want DD leading my team’s baseball ops dept if I were an owner. His willingness to trade top prospects and his reluctance to analytics would eliminate him from consideration but he would still be someone that I’d want contributing to team in some way, I’d still want his opinions on players and free agents. He may very well feel that being a special assistant is beneath him.
  21. Thanks. I thought that he’d be close to a 30/30 season.
  22. Anyone know what Tim’s stats would be on a 162 game pace? Can I find that out on Fangraphs?
