I may or may not have had something to do with the Cruise bit at the Olympics last night. Very cool that it came together. The money involved in that was crazy

I wonder if people would feel better about Getz if he was more media savvy.
-
Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"

No reason why Schriffen can’t. -
Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)
Boopa1219 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Trade Winds 2024
They're so bad and so far away from being competitive, that they should just get the best all period. They're so bad that they can't afford to worry about trading within the division -
I think anyone with a working brain knew that this team would be worse than last year’s.

Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)
Boopa1219 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Crochet for Bazzana. Who says no? -
Yeah JJ Cooper from BA said that this was the first time in 14 years where no top 100 prospects were traded. So that changes my outlook on how Getz did. I’m not too worried about them not trading Robert or Crochet, there value will be the same at the Winter Meetings

A new mock from MLB Pipeline's Jonathan Mayo. This one also has the Sox taking... Devin Taylor. He is a midwest dude, who plays at a midwest school and has a track record of performing with wood bats. So he checks those White Sox boxes. https://www.mlb.com/news/2025-mlb-mock-draft?t=mlb-draft-coverage Another benefit for the Sox, the high school hitters in this class are lightyears better than the 2024 crop.

Dumb teams, stay dumb

I’m real iffy on the Smith pick. People said that he was the best system fit for the Sox (Sale, Rodon, Crochet, Schultz) as he fits a profile that they clearly exceed in developing but I’m concerned because he had TJ so young, and who’s going to hit for the Sox? They need bats in the worst way, they won’t have a pick this high for a while. Maybe this is signaling a Crochet trade? I don’t know. Not a bad pick, just perplexing.

You’re only delaying the bat. If you draft Cags at 5, you’re saying imo that this guy is up with you next year at some point. Plus remember Andrew Vaughn, let’s not repeat the sins of the previous regime
-
I don’t get why people want to move him off of 1B. Any team that drafts should keep him at 1B, give up on the pitching, and have him focus on the bat 100% of the time, which should make him a fast riser to the bigs. Asking him to play the outfield and learn a new position, only delays the bat

If Wetherholt is off the board and I think he will be, I think the Sox are going to take Konnor Griffin. Which would be a great pick as it will save the Sox some serious cash, allowing them to go overslot in the later rounds but it’ll fill some needs too. The Sox haven’t invested a first round pick on an outfielder since Courtney Hawkins, which is why the OF has always been a problem, they haven’t invested many high picks in it. And Griffin is a five tool player and a serious athlete with a chance to stay in CF or even play SS. It’s the right move.

The Rockies have started to realize that they should draft the best player available and not the player who projects to be a fit for Coors, which is how they made decisions for the longest time. A pick this high, they do need to draft the top arm because of how hard it is to sign pitchers there in FA
-
I’m fully rooting for JJ Wetherholt to fall to 5. Griffin is now my #2 choice.
-
He wasn’t familiar with Grifol.
-
I don’t think so, Getz has gone out the org for his key hires (Barfield, Bannister and Janish). I think he’ll do a search

Shocked that JJ Reddick took the Lakers job, seems like a bad opportunity. If he doesn't win the title, he's going to be labeled as a failure, plus LeBron can be a coach killer. Plus the team seems to be approaching the end of this window.

This is a tear down year, Getz has filled this team with stop gaps and guys who are only here to be traded. As the team acquires more good players as it starts to build back up this could mean a lot and help the team win more games. This is encouraging for the future

Don’t know where else to put this but the Sox offense is better than last year’s team when it comes to launch angle (2024: 12th/2023: 29th), walk rate (2024: 28th/2023: 30th) and ground ball rate (2024: 12th/2023: 29th). I don’t know if it’s coaching or the types of players they brought in but it’s encouraging.

If you draft Cags, let him be a two way guy and he gets TJ, the bat may not be the same once he returns. At the very least, you lose at least a year of development. If the bat is as special as people say it is, it’s not worth the risk.
