I’m in total agreement with you in regards to the offense being more consistent with the arrival of Eloy and guys like Moncada and Anderson taking the next steps in their development. They also turned the bullpen into a major strength that shorten games for the young staff but I think they also improved the defense of the team with Alonso and Jay. If the team stays as it is, I’m thinking 75-77 wins which would be huge. If they land a Harper or Machado, I think they can play meaning games late in the regular season at the least .500 ball.

I think that the Sox employed a good strategy when they started the rebuild. They had a largely empty farm and targeted high floor guys in the draft as they replenished the system. Now that they have that depth, I think they should definitely start targeting more high ceiling guys in the draft. I understand that those guys carry way more risk but when you hit on a guy, they could be a superstar.

This might be a good thing as Lazano now has a team to use as leverage against the Sox in the final stages of negotiations. A deal will get done soon in the next two weeks, that’s my prediction.

I don’t think that theSox were leaking. The reports that came out makes them look horribly cheap. The Sox wouldn’t have made it this far in the Machado sweepstakes if their offer was south of $200M.

Say what you will about Hoiberg but I think he was good at helping develop the players, there were stories about him staying with players after practice and helping them refine their shots and what not. It seems like some of the Bulls young players are stuck in neutral under Boylen, in regards to their development. Markkenan and Lavine can’t shoot threes? Markkenan isn’t a prime option on offense? There was a game where he only got off six shots. Wendell Carter Jr. is getting pulled after 13 minutes? Kris Dunn can’t push the tempo? The Bulls are a joke, everybody needs to go.

I wouldn’t rule out a high school player at all for the Sox. Regardless if they sign Machado/Harper, is probably the last time they’ll be picking this high in the draft. If they think Abrams or Carroll have a monster ceiling, I think they’ll bet on the ceiling and pick one of them.
