  1. It appears that the team is interested in having a competition for the fifth spot in the rotation and it figures that Jordan Stepehens, Covey and Banuelos are some in house options but are there any names out there on the market, that you guys would like to see the team add into the race? I wouldn't be upset with Drew Hutchinson, Shelby Miller, or Clay Buchholz. I think Miller and Hutchinson could be non-roster invitees.
  2. I really want the team to lock down another experienced reliever (Ottavino, Britton, Allen, Herrera, Boxberger, Holland) . I think that shortening the games for the (young) rotation would be an incredibly smart move as they gear towards competitiveness.
  3. I don’t think that it’s a coincidence that in a span of a few days we heard that the Cubs are going to make a run at Bryce Harper and that both Harper and Machado don’t like Philadelphia. I think the Sox and the Phillies come out of this winter with one of these guys, I just can’t figure out who’s getting who.
  4. If you want the rebuild to succeed then you should want the Sox to be opportunistic. The chances of guys like Harper and Machado (first tier players, who are just entering their prime as they become free agents) being free agents again down the road is slim to none. While it’s not in their control, the Sox have to jump in on this opportunity. I’d rather get one of these too early, than pass on them all together. What’s so hard to understand?
  5. You have to be at the front of the line if you’re a free agent in those leagues because there is a salary cap and money is limited. Of course there’s no salary cap in MLB, so players can take their time and really think about this decision because the money is always going to be there.
  6. "What a joke of an org!" I'm sure someone here is thinking this right now.
  7. I need to know the corresponding move. Palka... Delmonico... one of those guys has to go, I think.
  8. I would give him SS money but he’s playing third for me. Anderson is better defensively, he has way better range and he took some massive strides with his defense as the season progressed
  9. Why would Hahn say anything publicly that Boras or any other agent could fuck him with later in negotiations? Hahn is a lawyer by trade, you can’t read too much into his comments when it comes to things like this because a lot of the time he’s not saying anything of real substance.
  10. I’d go two years and $28M with an option for a third.
  11. Maybe because of my chosen field, I love Los Angeles. Things are constantly happening, the weather is great too but I can see how people can hate it. There’s homeless people everywhere, the incredibly expensive and transportation is a nightmare.
  12. That’s true but let’s say that the sox hit on his pick, then he’ll be joining a team with Moncada, Robert and Eloy all with ample big leauge experience. He’ll be extending the Sox’s window as well.
  13. That’s one but the teams that make the playoffs consistently have multiple. Just look at the Cubs, Astros, Dodgers, Red Sox and Yankees for example. Yeah, they can sign one through free agency but that’s an awfully expensive way to do it. Outside of Chris Sale, who’s the last star the Sox drafted in the first round? Frank Thomas? Ideally, this is the last time that the Sox are drafting this high in the near future, they need to hit big with this pick.
  14. I really wanted Machado and Grandal at the start of the process.
  15. I really want the Sox to end up with Brad Boxberger. Last year he had when he spent 81 games in Chase Field, he had 32 SVs, 71 Ks in 51.1 IP which comes out to 12 K/9.
  16. I forgot about him, he had a K/9 of 10.4. Ottavino: 13.0 Allen: 10.7 Britton: 7.5 (GB% of 73%) Herrera: 7.7
  17. I’m not expecting anything from him due to his health issues, whatever he gives the Sox is a bonus in my eyes.
  18. A Sox pen with Colome, Fry, Bummer, Hamilton, Vieira, the eventual arrival of Burdi and one of Allen/Ottavino/Herrera/Britton would be pretty sick. They have a young staff, so they should be looking to shorten the games for them.
  19. The Sox lost 470lbs and got a whole lot better today.
  20. There’s no long term fit, he has no position and has no real value outside of hitting homers and he had a down power year last year. Good decision.
  21. Really like this move for the Sox. They have a legit closer and the winter meetings haven’t even started and they were right to sell high on Navarez because he’s unlikely to repeat that performance from last year. I would still like to see the Sox sign another reliever like Allen, Britton or Ottavino at the meetings.
