  1. I was all for trading for Yelich as long as the cost centered along pitching prospects not named Kopech but what would’ve arguably set the Sox and their timeline back. I applaud the Sox for sticking to their guns and not trying to cheat this process, to painful now but the reward will be worth it.
  2. I'd leave Moncada at 2B, I think any and all talk of him moving off the position is very premature. Development takes time, I expect him to take the next step with the glove next year.
  3. I don’t get this type of thinking... The goal should be to get the highest draft pick possible, so that the Sox can get the best possible players during the draft. The same people who are rooting for the Sox to win these truly meaningless games are the same people who are going to be mad that the Sox for missing out on (Insert Player Here). And there’s a big difference between having the third worst record and the fifth worst record. That affects how much money you have to spend on amateur players in the draft and on J2. And to suggest that the number of losses is indicative of the progress of the rebuild in absolutely insane. What’s so hard to understand about this process?
  4. The news about Kopech took a lot out of me as a fan and really sent me into a baseball depression, so I haven’t been following the team as much since then.
  5. With young arms, I can’t see them not keeping that extra bullpen arm.
  6. This should help the tank, dare I say... its back on? Tim Anderson is the most irreplaceable position player on the team in my opinion. He's on pace for a 3+ WAR season and he's a threat to have a 25/25 season at short stop. That's really valuable.
  7. Picked up Interpol’s new record, Marauder, on (cream) LP, today at the Reckless on Milwaukee. I’m a huge fan of Interpol, I’ve seen them live a bunch so I was really anticipating this record. On first listen, I really like how raw and aggressive this album is. It was recorded live and straight to analog tape. Their music has been stuck in a mid tempo space for a decade now, so it’s nice hearing some more energetic stuff. I do miss the keyboards though. The best tracks are If You Really Love Nothing, The Rover, Flight of Fancy and It Really Matters.
  8. With the cash they saved from his suspension, probably around $4M, I’d buy him out and go after someone else.
  9. I like watching him pitch, if I were a team who needed RP he's definitely someone that I would be willing to bet on.
  10. Someone to keep an eye on going into the offseason is Corey Knebel, who was just sent down to AAA. His hard contact rate is through the roof compared to last year and his fastball has been getting killed. 30.4% of his fastballs that are hit into play are hit for HRs. Just goes to show how volatile relievers are.
  11. I want the young guys to play well and the highest possible pick. Abreu going down should help that as it should force some below replacement level guys to see more time. I really don’t know what Castillo is going to bring to the table offensively when he returns. There’s still a month left to play, the Sox can hold on to that third pick
  12. In a year where your not competing, I’d shut down Abreu and Leury. Give guys like Delmonico more playing time, because I don’t see a spot for him going forward. SHowcase him and see what you can get for him.
  13. With noting really of note in AAA (outside of Eloy), I’m hoping September call ups water down the roster a lot. I know Tilson and Correll are there but there are only three outfield spots.
  14. As someone who’s wants the highest possible pick...
  15. This is exciting, already trying to get the day off work. There has to be a way for them to manipulate the clock to get an extra year. Can’t they ‘keep him down’ next year to open the season to limit his days on the ML roster? I think the Dodgers did something similar with Walker Buehler, sending him to AAA and putting him on the DL.
  16. Raul Ibanez or Josh Paul, please.
  17. It’s very rare for a player to just come into the league and be a stud. Not just for the Sox but for every organization. Guys need time to develop. And if for those who think Moncada is a bust, he’s been a 2.5 WAR player with the Sox. That’s really impressive with him not being a finished product.
  18. Perfect tank game. Looez pitxhes great, leaves in the 8th with men on the corners and no one out... and Jace Fry enters? I’m scared that he can get out of this.
  19. Early top four in no particular order: Adley Rutschman CJ Abrams Carter Stewart Bobby Witt Jr.
  20. Oakland is definitely here to stay. Billy Beane and company have quietly built one of the best young cores in all of baseball with Olson, Chapman, Manaea, Trienen, Baretto, Fowler. They’re also have more talent coming in Puk (Who figures to be a big partner of their rotation this year before TJS) and Luzardo. The Oakland A’s buying at the deadline is great for baseball.
  21. The Yankees entice me as a trade partner. They’re always looking to upgrade their bullpen and with Tommy Kahnle and Chasen Shreve pitching poorly all year, I don’t expect that to change. They also need someone to eat innings as Sonny Gray has been awful this year Some guys in their farm system that I like for the Sox and who I think are realistic gets are RHP Matt Sauer (NYY #10 (MLBP)/#15 (Fangraphs - 40 FV) Prospect) and RHP Cody Carroll (NYY #15 (MLBP)/#18 (Fangraphs - 40FV) Prospect). Sauer has some upside, he throws mid nineties and projects to be a middle of the rotation guy. He does have a funky head delivery and could be a reliever Carroll is a reliever who can probably pitch in the bigs now. MLB Pipeline has his fastball at 75 and Fangraphs has it at 65/70. He has had TJS before. And he sports a career 10.2 K/9. Some other guys that I like are Freicer Perez and Domingo Acevedo.
  22. Definitely hoping for below 20 wins. It’s a stretch but every loss counts.
