GT - 3/30 - Angels at Sox (1:10pm CST)
Boopa1219 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2025 Season in Review
It was a good idea just didn’t work out -
I’m curious to see the moves that they make going forward (starting from this just recent offseason) with more of Getz’s people are in place. There’s Ryan Fuller and there’s the new analysts in the organization
-
So the minor leagues starting, looking at the Sox system. I think these are their biggest needs are players who can hit for power, and guys who are premium athletes. Not saying you should draft for need, always take the BPA but their needs are loud. My favorite guys for the Sox as of today are (in no particular order): Jace LaViolette, Gavin Fein, Eli Willits, Avia Arquette, Billy Carlson, Sean Gamble, Liam Doyle, and Jaden Fauske.

If Baldwin can just be league average with the bat, he can be a highly valuable player.
-
The lineup yesterday made sense. The platoon deployment of Sosa and Slater made sense and worked out. The moves to the pen made sense. They’re not going to win many games but I’m expecting a professional baseball team and a manager who knows how to use his roster.
-
Miquel Vargas should be the 1B. I’m really surprised they kept Vaughn. I’d honestly rather see someone like Rizzo or Tellez there
-
They should hire Vinnie Duber or Daryl Van Schouwen
-
The interface of the app is atrocious. Couldn’t navigate the box score. Or the other panels on the screen. Also does CHSN, have a White Sox beat reporter? Some good Sox writers are on the street now unfortunately
-
I like these at bats today.
-
Didn’t finish my thought: I’m excited to see the impact it has at guys at the ML level but really to see how it affects the development of guys like Wolkow, Zavala, and Bonemer. The bats in the system do leave a lot to be desired, not a lot of high ceiling guys, but there’s some interesting clay to be molded. It seems like Getz and Shirley are targeting guys with OBP skills in the draft and trades which is a good place to start, and a welcome change from the last regime
-
I’m excited to see Ryan Fuller and how the position players perform at the plate during his tenure here. Brain Bannister’s impact was immediate but I think hitting is much harder than pitching.

Shane Smith has taken over as story of spring
Boopa1219 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm sure McKivin played a part in getting Smith over but this is encouraging because for years, the Sox biggest weakness has been pro scouting. Smith becoming a contributing member of the team would be a nice win for the new regime. -
2026 MLB Draft Thread...White Sox Control Draft/Roch the House
Boopa1219 replied to caulfield12's topic in FutureSox Board
But Jacob Lombard is related to George Lombard and George Lombard Jr. -
Benintendi out 4-6 weeks with right hand fracture

No it hasn’t, he’ll have two months at least to show he’s fully healthy -
2026 MLB Draft Thread...White Sox Control Draft/Roch the House
Boopa1219 replied to caulfield12's topic in FutureSox Board
The two highly coveted players in this draft class are prep shortstops, Jacob Lombard and Grady Emerson. Baseball America did a podcast about them. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/baseball-america/id201539011?i=1000674421112 -
Rays even manage to outpayroll Sox now with HaSeong Kim deal
Boopa1219 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why are we complaining about the Sox having a low payroll. They’re trying to suck, they should have a low payroll. -
I don’t buy the notion that your AAA is you Mr manager in waiting. That’s not good imo and wasn’t everyone on this board ragging the Sox for being too insular?
-
I don’t get where this 28/29/30 talk is coming from. Regardless, they should take the best asset available, with the highest ceiling when it’s their turn to pick. The rest will figure itself out.
-
And he only moved to 3B because the Dodgers had Seager
-
The Pirates already did
-
Thats exactly what a team in their position should be doing. They’re not trying to win, they’re not at the point yet. The best case scenario for the Sox this season is that they end up with the first overall pick in the draft.
-
Outside of Benintendi and Robert, the Sox are out of the tear down phase of the rebuild. Now it’s all about multiplying assets (flipping guys)
-
I agree that Poles hasn’t maximized his assets and made a mistake by building the team outside in but the franchise was dysfunctional. Yeah he made a mistake by bringing back Eberflus but it was clear who was making the decisions. Warren comes in and we don’t know who is responsible for what. Who made the call to fire Everflus? Does Poles have to go to Warren on approval on matters related to the 53. I mean today, Poles had a press conference, and immediately afterwards George and Warren had their own. A lot of what they said was dumb, some contradictory. There’s too many cooks in the kitchen.
-
Hiring Kevin Warren might be one of the worst things the Bears have ever done. It seemed like Poles was operating the ship just fine, it seems like everything has become so messy since Warren has come on board. I also have serious doubts about his ability to get THIS TEAM a stadium/entertainment complex. The hire is looking really bad right now
